For those reading reviews in order to ascertain if the movie is worth watching, I'd say yes... absolutely. Sure, it's possible that you'll have criticism of certain unnecessary plot twists, cliche's and loose ends... but make your own mind up. Watch for yourself. It's most probably better than the alternative you have lined up.
Even if it may not be a perfect 10, there's a lot to get out of it... especially if you haven't read the book.

This is one of the best selling books in Brazil, so i was expecting a good film, unfortunately it is not.
Actors with very weak performances and a very predictable script but with speeches that some may find interesting, however it's a big cliche talking about how our society is "empty" and how we are losing our values. Maybe with a better script and better actings it could worked a lot better.
Maybe it can work for people who don't have a lot of knowledge and worldview, however anyone who never read a good self-knowledge book, may find the movie incredible.

Everyone should watch this amazing movie, especially top corporate executives who have lost touch with their basic humanity which they have surrendered to delusion of money, and start treating their employees like people and not like disposable numbers. This movie will go over most people's heads as we have grown up in a shallow material world which has warped our thoughts, but if you still have some connection to your true self, then this movie will bring it out in you. Great acting, great content, great, great writing and subject matter. This is the best movie I have seen in a long, long time. If your idea of a great movie involves tons of car chases then this movie isn't for you.

The messages in this film are even more relevant today than when the film was released. Consumerism and materialism are not important as we've been led to believe. The covid lockdowns and mandatory restrictions are opening people's eyes to what is really important and this film illustrates it perfectly. The acting is excellent and César Troncosco, who plays Mellon, is SUPERB. Thank you for making this poignant movie.

I suppose we all need to be reminded about the meanings of life within every generation.....personally, I preferred the Monty Python version, myself. At least I found that entertaining. The film in question had me wondering if I should take a duster to my old copies of the Gospels...I must be getting old as I certainly felt I was being preached to by naivete of youth...also, as a film, I lost the plot as several characters seemed to look the same in different settings. Just super-egos? Give over. Poor plot development, more like! I never want to watch this film again, thanks.
Ignore the naysayers! Anti materialist heavenly film - we need more films like this in this heartless world of me me me money money money and all the artificial B/S of modern living.

If you are checking IMDB before watching a movie, then this movie most probably will be below your standards. Don't waste your time, it's one of the worst movies we have ever watched. It was awful, disgusting, it was a total disaster. No one should ever consider watching it. It cannot be any worse, you can not think of any movie that could be more boring, more pointless, and more waste of time. It's a lost one and a half hour from our lifetimes. It has no philosophy, no plot, no acting. I am just wandering if makers of this movie had taken their time to watch it just once before publishing it!
This is a great movie. Ignore bad reviews! I recommend everyone to watch this movie.

Wow. Amazing there are directors and producers so blind to their own over-bloated 'dreams' they actually put money and effort to come up with such a laughably amateurish piece of contrived babble.
And then get people to put out the fake 10 stars. 👎👎👎
This is the type of cringy stuff a bunch of empty headed smarty-ass 16 year olds may put out as a school play and think it's soooo 'inspiring'.
Within 10 mins the amateurish nonsense is obvious. To give it a chance, I fast forwarded it 5-10 mins at a time. At every stop, it's the same cringy contrived nonsense. Nothing redeeming.
The acting is equally cringy bad, made even worse by horrendously pretentious dialogue, simplistic and blindly-grandiose beyond belief.
The few child actors fared much better probably because they had no idea the nonsense they were unwittingly inserted into.
Just NO.

This is a true gem; it teaches you how to overlook the trivial things in life and wreck your own life; it's all about finding that coma and writing the story you want to live.

I knew nothing about this film but just liked the title and the promo image, so thought I'd go for it. I'm SO glad I did. It was like no other film I've ever seen. Firstly, the music was exquisite - and so was the the casting, the cinematography, the acting and everthing else about it. But I found the heart of this film to be the powerfully, cleverly, beautifully elucidated message - i.e., that many humans have lost their basic humanity and many (most?) in power are only interested in power (and money honey), and NOT the greater good. I'm not used to hearing the things that make me mutter obscenities under my breath when I watch the nightly news, being strongly expressed in a film, so it took me by surprise (in a good way). Lots of people apparently feel uncomfortable when confronted with these 'concepts', and dismiss it all as merely clichéd. On one level that's undeniable, but on a deeper level, those damn clichés are...'uncomfortable truths' (oops sorry, another annoying 'cliché') Anwyay - loved it! Don't miss it!
(P. S. thank you to all involved with this film and especially to the writers - write on!).

Had no idea what it was about and just watched it at random. Fell in love with it - it will be part of my 'spiritual center' movies or movies I go to when I'm feeling out of sorts and needing to get back to myself. Little nuggets of wisdom and phrases sprinkled in that resonate deeply. The expressiveness of the main character is truly beautiful - kudos to the actor. To be fair, the story isn't anything overly surprising as it unfolds - but the telling of it is done masterfully and with great care. If you are feeling lost, buried, overwhelmed, watch it. If you are looking for something beautiful, touching, refreshing, watch it. Don't over analyze - just go along for the ride and enjoy.

Life deals us many lessons - problem is we don't learn them. This film gets through at many levels. It even has unexpected plot twists . Mostly it was an important lesson about what we choose to value and how we lose the people we need to love fully and without judgement. A deep film with wonderful actors. Great actors help this complex teaching to get through in our busy lives, especially the lead, the DreamSeller. I understand the book is great - I would guess that the translation into English has lost some of the power of the language and the lesson.
The acting is great. I loved the child actors coming from both wealth and privilege to children on the street with no one to care for them.
Yet, both the wealthy child and the poor child just wants and needs, a loving parent. These child actors help this complex teaching to get through in our busy lives.

GREAT MOVIE!!! ACT WITH LOVE! Watch this movie and let your family and friends to learn also about this movie. We need to remember and live our life with love. This means real happiness and doesn't matter if we have less or lot of money. We need to learn to Love.

This movie and all its plots, are about self-acceptance, forgiveness, knowledge, wisdom and change. No matter what the haters say, about being predictable and simplex, it is very much worth watching. All the stories and fates intertwining end up providing a glimpse on our own paths in life, we were or we're not consciously choosing. Till now? The story provides enough plausible feedback, finding oneself digesting our own life struggles and relationships, while at the same time reevaluating our values, attitudes and motives that influence every little decision we make. This is a wonderful portrayal of what all of us deal in every day lives. Do not skip this one and stay open minded...

Well it's my first movie review ever and what made me write it, is the every dialogue and the way it was delivered in this movie.. Highly recommended for the ppl who want to reshape their lives positively. It has so many lessons to learn from every dialogue and the scene the way it was not only shown but deeply & simply expressed & explained. No major stars but everyone gave their best in it.. No matter how many times one watches it but always end up with learning more to improve himself. So just avoid the negative reviews and give it a whole heartedly go I bet u won't repent but rather gonna enjoy and learn.. Big Bravo.
Augusto Cury did a great job on writing this book and this movie was a decent effort from this cast.
This movie is a "lesson learnt" for me and for all the humanity, in my opinion.
Mr Trancoso who plays the "Master"..oh my god he nailed it! I loved the plot and I hope to find more people like him in order change the world and stop it from being destroyed from us!
A man who changes this unpleasant world, talking about everything that NEEDS to be changed.
There are 2 more books that continue the story and I hope to do them to a movie too!
Furthermore, before or after watching this movie, I insist to read all three books...it's a...game changer!
