US Ambassadors and their family members are protected by the D.S.S. (Diplomatic Security Service) not the U.S.S.S. (United States Secret Service). Also in Canada - the Ambassador's security team would be assisted by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police VIP Security Section from HQ (National Capital Region - formerly "A" Division) in Ottawa.
Likewise, Governors are typically protected by the State Police of their State's jurisdiction - not the Secret Service.
