The Ladbrokes Players Championship is contested by the top 16 players from a money list running from the start of the season until the last qualifying event.
The tournament was first staged in 2011, won by Shaun Murphy.
In 2016 the tournament was held in Manchester and won by Mark Allen. He beat Ricky Walden 10-6 in the final.
In 2017 the world ranking event will be staged at Venue Cymru in Llandudno for the first time.
The 2015 champion Joe Perry failed to qualify for the 2016 finals having finished 51st on the Order of Merit.
