Rod Stewart was skeptical when Warner Bros. suggested pairing vocal tracks from his classic songs with new music from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. “I can’t say that I’d pay for a ticket to go and watch classical music,” he tells Rolling Stone. “But I told them I’d like to hear a couple of takes and see what they can do with these songs. I was pleasantly surprised with what they came back with.”

DJ Shadow unveiled a dense and multi-faceted new song, “Rosie,” set to appear on his forthcoming album, Our Pathetic Age, out November 15th via Mass Appeal.
“Rosie” boasts two distinct parts, starting with a propulsive beat based around smashing drums, a chopped up vocal sample and the occasional flash of some strange synth. Halfway through, however, the song deftly slips into a hypnotic groove, where the drums still snap, but the synths swirl into a headier space.

The race for Best Pop Solo Performance at the Grammys may be wide open since none of the nominees in the category are up for Record of the Year or Song of the Year. But even when there is a general field nominee in the running there have often been upsets, so we may not be able to rule anyone out of this contest.
Ariana Grande is nominated for “God is a Woman.” It was a top-10 hit, and Grande is a powerhouse female vocalist; that has been a winning formula for Adele, who has won this category three times, more than anyone else since men and women were merged into one solo performance category in 2012.
But Adele usually dominated the general field categories too, while Grande was snubbed in the top races, so she’ll try to follow Ed Sheeran‘s path instead. Sheeran was surprisingly left out of the top categories last year,...

Sam Smith gets candid about his weight loss journey and struggle with body image in a new interview with Sarah Jessica Parker. About two and a half years ago, the "Stay With Me" crooner showcased a slimmer figure, which he has since maintained. Smith is featured on the cover of V magazine's spring 2018 "Discovery" issue. Parker interviewed him for the outlet and asked him, "You and I have talked a little bit about self-image. How comfortable are you feeling on camera today versus two years ago?" "It's completely different," Smith said. "I think that's come with me losing weight. When I was shooting my first music videos, I just wasn't...
