I'm sorry. Truly sorry. I love everything else I've seen by Sid and Marty Krofft, and it's great to see their characters, especially ones for H. R. Pufnstuff make a comeback, but....
The writing here is horrible. Truly horrible. Any worse and it would be better for it's cult potential.
I want to criticize the acting too, but that would be unfair; I don't think anyone but the world's very best comedic actors could do anything with this horrible script and they fall short of it. The comedic actors are good, but not THAT good. And the Bay City Rollers, well, let's face it - their primarily musicians.
There is one saving grace for a few seconds - it sports intentionally bad impersonations of Sony and Cher and you just have to see who they picked to pretend to actually be Sony. It's the only joke to cross the line from "so bad it's not funny" to "so utterly absurd it's hilarious." Wish I could write this with and without spoilers, but with any luck IMDB will accept a description of the gag with a spoiler tag where you can view it under "Trivia" if you want. :-)
