The film was shot in two days (thirty four scenes) in May 2016.
It was a complex two-camera shoot for the most part, using a 4K Blackmagic and HD Blackmagic Pocket.
The film evolved from the writer/director's detailed research into the uncanny and the use of dolls and dummies in horror cinema. It's an homage to films such as Child's Play, Magic, Dead of Night, Puppet Master, Dolls, Dead Silence, and classic episodes of The Twilight Zone.
Catrin Stewart (Doctor Who, Stella) plays two characters at the same time - both Dolly and Connie - throughout the film, and also operated the Connie puppet for most of the shoot.
The comedic elements of the film are influenced by the director's favorite comedians from childhood - Woody Allen, Don Rickles, Joan Rivers and Jackie Mason.
