Mystify: Michael Hutchence

Negotiations broke down with regard to the use of INXS' music. After viewing the film without any music, Richard Lowenstein realized that the film would be completely ineffective without any music so he contacted Tiger Lily Hutchence Geldof (the singer's daughter with Paula Yates) who agreed with his conclusion. She reached out privately to INXS and was able to persuade them to relinquish the rights to nine of the band's songs.

For the film's Australian release, the distributor chose to re-edit the film after the original version of the film received an MA15+ classification. These edits removed stronger course language from the film in order to obtain an M classification.
