The visuals and content were good (not excellent). However the photography could have been more innovative in helping tell the compelling story of the Americas before Columbus. The narrative and talking heads (although informative) were fall-asleep boring. The animations were helpful but uninspiring. A student paper given at the 2017 Chacmool Conference had better vivid computer graphics of Maya sites. I have a degree in Archaeology. I have visited most of the ancient sites from Alaska to the south of Chile. This bland documentary did not do justice to the character, diveristy and uniqueness of the indigenous cultures that existed prior to 1492.

I wanted to shout out this series because it does such a good job of telling the history of Indigenous persons in the Americas. As a teacher I would be hard pressed to find a better documentary resource for outlining the history of the Americas. The series is produced from an Indigenous perspective. Every scientist or anthropologist interviewed is Indigenous and displays great respect for traditional knowledge. The history of the land is intertwined with the history of settlement in the Americas. An ongoing point of discussion is the relationship between scientific inquiry and traditional knowledge. The reenactments are done in period costuming and I believe the languages spoken are also authentic.

I watched last night's episode on NITV. (06.02.2019).
References were made to several other Indigenous Peoples & their practices across the globe - Asia, Middle East, South Pacific... yet no acknowledgement what so ever about Australia's Indigenous People. The oldest living culture of the world, also with evidence of utilising the land & waters to sustain populations for 60,000+ years. Disappointing & insulting. I will not be tuning in next week.
