Painful to watch

I think the filmmakers started with good intentions - a feature film featuring African-Americans in every lead role. Unfortunately the effort fails in almost every way. The biggest problem is the sound editing and mixing. The entire film sounds as though it was recorded in a small room with concrete walls.

The script is juvenile. There is no subtlety, no room for viewers to extrapolate. Compounding this problem is the performance of most of the actors. While some might lay blame on the actors themselves, this is a directorial deficiency. A good director can lead even wooden actors to good performances. Not here.

The FX consist of slo-mo scenes, but the dialogue does not slow. The dissonance is jarring. I developed a headache by the halfway mark and, masochistically, stuck it out. Let my suffering prevent yours. You're welcome.

Not good!

The movie covers the significant issue about school bullying but it's so boring it's hard to get through the entire film without pausing it a few times. The acting is poor and the sound mixing is almost unbearable. Carl Anthony Payne II should forget about directing! I read this on trivia, "The Casting Directors auditioned actors for roles that were already cast". That sounds like something he would do. Clifton Powell was probably one of them, they were in a few movies together. Skip this one, most of the high ratings are fake anyway!

Good Movie

Yes the film was painful to watch. It's difficult to know people are really like that in this world. I came in on the middle of the movie and had to finish watching it from there. This is how well written this movie is. Watching it from the beginning with my heart so depressed knowing what's going to happen, wow. The range of emotions you experience , sadness, anger, disappointment, guilt that you can't be there to help.
