There was an actual curse that various cast and crew experienced during the making of the film. Which was also named Crispy's Curse, incidents included injures, cuts, bruises, burns etc. Filming equipment disappeared never to be seen again, a car locked it's owner out (Mat Sandland) while the engine was still running, he had to smash a window to get back in. There was a UFO sighting by cast and crew while filming the moor scene. Various mishaps occurred during filming in a haunted pub in Burslem The Leopard Inn.
