I've watched a lot of hyper low budget found footage films lately and each time it's as if they were a clone of the last, it's an overplayed sub-genre where originality is rare.
The Light is yet another with no budget, but it actually managed to entertain. This does actually have originality, it's one of those incredibly rare titles where a filmmaker threw his hat over the wall and said "I'm not recycling what has come before".
Essentially a found footage sci-fi comedy it tells the story of a group of friends who reunite to go on a fishing trip only to fall foul of alien invaders!
The dialogue is silly yet likeable, most of the cast are great and though the sfx are pretty poor they are oddly endearing and plentiful.
This is one of those films I'll get criticised over my rating, how can I give this a 7 whereas so many "Cult classics" and "Hollywood blockbusters" get considerably less. My answer is simple, this is better. This is well made, this is a production crew making the most of what they have and still succeeding, this is a fun little film despite its many flaws.
Good job guys, let's see more!

Camera is weirdly nauseating, no idea what they were doing there
Couple of actors are embarassing
