In this film, actor Amado 'Stiven Rusber' Gutierrez portrayed Luis María Muñoz, who survived the 1948 plane crash by traveling by road. The real-life survivor died November 2001 in the AA Flight 587 crash in New York, and the actor died April 2022 as a pilot after a light aircraft crash in Haiti.
