The first audience of Daedalus was a 7 years old little girl. On the set of a big American production, actress, and producer, Emmanuelle Davis met this little girl, who badgered everyone to tell her spooky stories, and each time saying afterward that it was not spooky enough. Emmanuelle, not knowing any stories for kids, told the little girl the whole story of Daedalus, while the little girl listened with big eyes, and then said, "oh, that was spooky!".
As a complex story, the concept of Daedalus was born in March 2016, the movie was shot in September 2016, and then took more than 1 year of rest, before getting deep into the final editing and into the post production to finally complete the movie in April 2018.
All the Greek gods statues, Athena portrait, and mythology book used in the movie belong to the Producer. The statues have been made in Greece and Sicily.
The plate of Theo's red truck read "APO-LLO" for Alberta, and "ATH-3NA" for Ontario, which are obviously homage to Greek gods Apollo and Athena. Props have been made by Tammy Khosrowkhani, set designer and wife of actor Gus Khosrowkhani, playing Cyrus.
There are a lot of "easter eggs" in the film: Patty's line, "even Margaret", is a reference to a real old lady who was the neighbour of the Davises. At the party, the brands on the bottles are "Helios ouzo", Helios is Emmanuelle Davis' horse's name; and "Smoking Man scotch whiskey" is of course a reference to the Cigarette Smoking Man played by William B. Davis in the X-Files. In the Criminal report that hold Cyrus, as a witness, the name of the Doorman is mentioned: A. Tiresias, which is a reference to Tiresias , the oracle of gods, in Sophocles' play.
