Exclusive: Following a busy fall in both the film and TV worlds, Adrien Brody is looking to stay busy as he set to join Apple Original Films’ Ghosted, starring Chris Evans and Ana de Armas. Dexter Fletcher is directing.

Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger are producing, along with Jules Daly. Evans will serve as producer and de Armas as an executive producer. The film’s writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, also will be producers. They developed the project based on an original idea of theirs and pre-emptively sold it to Skydance.

The project is described as a high-concept romantic action-adventure film, and Apple acquired the high-profile project during the summer.

Chris Evans will join Dwayne Johnson in Amazon Studios’ upcoming holiday film, “Red One.”

Amazon Studios is developing the feature project, which is based on an original story by Hiram Garcia, president of production at Seven Bucks Productions. The film, which aims to shoot this year, is described as “a globe-trotting, four-quadrant action-adventure comedy, imagining a whole new universe to explore within the holiday genre.”

Evans will next be seen starring in the Russo brothers’ Netflix spy film “The Gray Man” and will voice Buzz Lightyear in Pixar’s “Lightyear.” Evans is in development on a biopic about Gene Kelly, in which he’ll star and produce, and he will next star in the Apple’s “Ghosted.”

Matt Reeves ‘The Batman’ is yet to hit cinemas but one of its stars, Colin Farrell, who will be playing The Penguin will be reprising the role for the HBO spin-off series.

An animated “X-Files” comedy series spinoff is in the works at Fox, Variety has confirmed.

The project is currently titled “The X-Files: Albuquerque.” It has received a script and presentation commitment at the broadcaster. The show would revolve around an office full of misfit agents who investigate X-Files cases too wacky, ridiculous or downright dopey for Mulder and Scully to bother with. They’re basically the X-Files’ B-team.

“X-Files” creator Chris Carter is attached to executive produce the project, with Rocky Russo and Jeremy Sosenko attached to write and executive produce. Gabe Rotter, who worked on the “X-Files” revival at Fox, will also executive produce. 20th Television and Fox Entertainment will produce. Bento Box will provide animation. Neither Gillian Anderson or David Duchovny is involved with the project at this time.

Nicolas Cage’s current status as a crazed-eyed paycheck-hunting star of contemporary schlock cinema seems to have reached the new evolutionary stage of conjuring meta-minded movie mirth with The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. With Cage set to portray himself, it appears that the film has honed in on a momentum-riding co-star in Pedro Pascal.

Lionsgate is in talks with Pascal to co-star opposite Cage in the film, reports The Wrap. Should the deal be finalized, Pascal will play Javi, a character described as “a Nic Cage superfan who is not all that he appears to be.” The co-starring duo will be in front of the camera for director Tom Gormicon, who is known as the co-creator—alongside Kevin Etten—of Fox’s single-season 2017-2018 supernatural comedy, Ghosted, and a lone feature credit in 2014 ensemble comedy That Awkward Moment, which starred Michael B. Jordan, Miles Teller, Zac Efron, Mackenzie Davis and Imogen Poots.

The Untitled Jackson/Goor Project revolves around a group of black friends, their dating lives and wine.

Tart will play Sherm Jones, a no-commitment perpetually single guy. Kellum will portray Noah Koles, a hopeless romantic. Cunningham is Wyatt Fields, who has been happily married for eight years.

Jackson is writing with Goor supervising, and both executive produce.

Tart performs weekly at Ucb in Los Angeles, frequently with his sketch & improv group White Women. He recently guest starred on Superstore, The Good Place, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Briarpatch. He is a writer on NBC’s upcoming Kenan Thompson series and previously wrote on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Ghosted and Brockmire.

Lionsgate has set a March 19, 2021 wide-release date for The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, the meta action comedy that stars Nicolas Cage as a version of himself.

Tom Gormican is directing the film based on the screenplay he wrote with Kevin Etten. Kevin Turen is producing.

The plot: Creatively unfulfilled and facing financial ruin, the fictionalized version of Cage must accept a $1 million offer to attend the birthday of a super fan. When things take a wildly dangerous turn, Cage is forced to live up to his own legend, channeling his most iconic and beloved on-screen characters in order to save himself and his loved ones.

Apple TV+ has ordered Severance, a dramatic dark workplace series starring Adam Scott, directed by Ben Stiller.

Severance is yet another serial offering for Apple TV+ to feature a high-profile cast and crew – in this case with star Adam Scott on the small screen with the creative involvement of Ben Stiller, who will direct.

Apple has given a 10-episode straight-to-series order for Severance, which is described as a “workplace thriller.” However, lest one think that such a design will have headliner Adam Scott in the middle of some twisted genre amalgamation of his run on NBC’s Parks and Recreation, this series will manifest as a character study of sorts, with Scott in the lead role of Mark, a man who juggles his life as an employee of a company called Lumen Industries – which is looking to take work-life balance to a new level – all while trying...

Apple has given a series order to a drama series starring Adam Scott with Ben Stiller attached to direct.

Stiller will also executive produce the series, titled “Severance,” with Scott also producing in addition to starring. The show is described as a workplace thriller that introduces Lumen Industries, a company that’s looking to take work-life balance to a new level. Scott will play the lead role of Mark, an employee with a dark past trying to put himself back together.

Dan Erickson serves as writer and executive producer. Chris Black will also executive produce along with Stiller and Nicky Weinstock and Jackie Cohn of Stiller’s Red Hour Productions. Endeavor Content will produce.
