I like this story a lot, but for me it's not the anime I'm looking for because it doesn't seem like an anime. I consider it more of a teleserye than an anime. Because everything common that happens in the teleserye is here! May nangaliwa(check ),lost sibling (check),fighting brother(check), kidnapping (check),Unexpected pregnancy (chaeck), fighting at the party (check) and more! They didn't focus on basketball, they focused more on the story unlike in other anime where the fight is intense! Gusto ko yung story pero Hindi siya anime para saakin... That's just my opinion.

Barangay 143 is the first anime that I watched that is not from a place in Japan. It is made in my home country which is known as the "Pearl of The Orient Seas" Philippines. I finally got the chance the full Filipino anime show on Netflix
It started off very interesting. There is a sad backstory that of our Korean Protagonist named Bren about what happened to his parents and why he moved to the Philippines including his other backstories for other characters like the coach Roberto and the female basketball player Vicky.
As the anime starts to grow on its serious storyline. These Filipino anime start to get tiring and stale. Although the show has a bit of comedy it did not the main focus of this anime and that main focus is obviously not enough basketball scenes.
Barangay 143 would have been the greatest anime hit that could have surpassed Kuroko no Basket or Slam Dunk made in my home country. Because of skipping too many basketball games and not bringing more impact and climax. This show did not make me proud. It's more like a teleserye rather than an actual shonen jump Filipino anime.
I hope in later seasons they would bring more action rather than focusing too much drama.
