I'm typically very selective when it comes to the indie genre because, often, not much happens in the story. Sometimes, writers aim for such an "artistic" approach that any meaningful message gets lost, leaving the film feeling flat. However, this movie was different-it truly resonated with me.
Having a brother who is also my best friend and who struggles with addiction, I found myself deeply connecting with the main character and the relationships she navigates, especially the one with her brother. The film felt personal in a way few others do.
Dave Franco's performance was a revelation. While I've always appreciated his comedic roles, seeing him take on a serious, emotionally charged character proved just how versatile and talented he truly is. His portrayal was authentic and moving, showcasing his range as an actor. It's not easy to switch between comedy and drama, but Franco nailed it with a depth that surprised me.
This film isn't just another indie; it delivers a heartfelt and powerful message, and for that, it stands out.
