A Nevada Supreme Court judge ruled Tuesday that Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter can move forward with his counterclaim against Shannon “Shay” Ruth, who accused him of raping her when she was 17 years old on a tour bus.
According to documents obtained by People, Judge Nancy L. Allf denied Ruth’s anti-slapp motion against Carter’s countersuit because she “failed to satisfy her burden.”
“Our resolution of this appeal has been hindered by Ruth’s failure to identify with specificity any of the statements that form the basis of Ruth’s anti-slapp motion,...

Squaring off against criminals in any situation is harrowing enough without adding an armored car and a narrow bridge. The environment is a significant part of the strategic means to potentially violent ends, and Sylvester Stallone did not come to play in Lionsgate‘s Armor trailer.
Justin Routt directs Armor from a screenplay by Adrian Speckert and Corey Todd Hughes. Academy Award nominee Sylvester Stallone and Jason Patric star in Routt’s action-packed thriller about the lengths one man will go to save what’s left of his family and reclaim his own life. James and his son Casey are armored truck drivers tasked with delivering a suspicious package. After a violent ambush on the road, James and Casey become trapped until they discover the value of what they have been carrying and join forces to outgun and outwit their attackers.

Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter has answered Melissa Schuman’s rape lawsuit in California with a cross-complaint seeking $2.5 million in damages for alleged defamation and interference with existing and prospective business contracts.
The new complaint, which claims Schuman “falsely accused” Carter in 2017 due to a “thirst for Internet relevance,” mirrors a similar defamation action Carter filed against Schuman last year in Clark County, Nevada. That prior claim surfaced in a cross-complaint to a sexual battery lawsuit filed by Shannon Ruth, a different rape accuser who alleges Carter vaginally penetrated her...

The '90s were a great time to be a young horror-loving kid. There were several gateway horror shows and movies that made genre fans out of an entire generation, preparing kids for the horrors of the real world within the safe confines of a television set. It was a time of "Goosebumps" and of "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark," a time of "Aaahh!!! Real Monsters" and "Tales from the Cryptkeeper." Then there was "Courage the Cowardly Dog."
Though "Real Monsters" featured, well, monsters, it was still definitely a comedic show. "Courage the Cowardly Dog," though, even when it wasn't technically scary, it was always eerie and disturbing. The cartoon follows the eponymous dog Courage, who lives with an elderly couple in a farm in the middle of Nowhere, Kansas. They are constantly thrown into weird, often spooky situations. The series started with a pilot short titled "The Chicken from Outer Space,...

At long last, Eddie Murphy is reprising his role as street-smart cop Axel Foley in the fourth instalment of the Beverly Hills Cop franchise, which is set to hit Netflix this summer. But, it isn’t easy being a middle aged action star. It’s been nearly thirty years since we last saw Eddie Murphy as Axel Foley, and in a recent interview with People Magazine he admitted that the shoot was a “rough one”.“I did Axel Foley when I was in my 20s. I am not in my 20s anymore,” he said. At any rate, Murphy won’t be the only aged actor from the original to show up, with many of the classic Beverly Hills Cop cast members are set to join him in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley. “Fallen Idols” delves into the accusations and controversies surrounding Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter and late pop singer Aaron Carter.
The Investigation Discovery docuseries introduces three women who claim they were sexually assaulted by Nick: Melissa Schuman, a singer best known for being a member of the girl group Dream; Ashley Repp, a former friend of Nick’s sister Angel; and Shannon “Shay” Ruth, who was the first woman to file a sexual assault lawsuit against him in December 2022.
The four-part docuseries also provides insight into the Carter family — consisting of parents Robert and Jane and children Nick, Leslie, Angel, Bobbie Jean and Aaron — which was plagued with a series of tragedies: Leslie died at age 25 from a drug overdose in 2012; in 2022, Aaron drowned at age 34 under the effects of alprazolam, a generic form of Xanax, and inhaling difluoroethane; and Bobbie Jean died from a drug overdose at age 41 in 2023.

In the three years since the Sarajevo Film Festival launched its Heart of Sarajevo TV awards, much has changed in the Balkan region’s television sector thanks to investment from regional telecom companies in the local production space. Companies such as Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Bh Telecom, the main sponsor of this year’s Sarajevo Film Festival, and Telecom Serbia have been flexing their financial muscle in a space that undercapitalized public broadcasters and once confident-but-now-nervous global streamers are yet to enter.
Bh Telecom is behind three local productions up for nominations at the festival’s TV awards this year: Bosnian crime drama The Hollow, which was co-created by Oscar-winning director Danis Tanović; and comedies Tender and On the Edge of Reason directed by Srdan Vuletić and Elmir Jukić respectively. Embedding with the Innocence Project of Texas that has taken up Reyos’ case, Esquenazi with her doc sheds new light on a story that has eluded detectives, crime researchers and amateur sleuths for four decades, exposing a web of media lore and homophobia, as well as whispers of a possible serial killing team targeting clergy in the 1980s. When it comes to creative pedigree, it would be hard to argue with the bona fides of Bosnian crime drama “The Hollow,” which was co-created by Oscar-winning director Danis Tanović (“No Man’s Land”) and had a splashy premiere Saturday night at the Sarajevo Film Festival. The series is directed by Tanović and Bosnian filmmaker Aida Begić, whose latest feature, “A Ballad,” also received the red-carpet treatment this week in Sarajevo’s official competition.
More than just a prestige drama from a region that’s increasingly exporting its shows to the world, however, “The Hollow” could represent a paradigm shift in the countries of the former Yugoslavia, where global streaming services have been acquiring titles such as “The Paper” (Netflix) and “The Silence” (HBO Max) but are yet to put significant investment into local production.

In some ways it’s a year of transition for the Sarajevo Film Festival, which sees former industry head and co-director Jovan Marjanović take the helm as festival director, while long-time staffer Maša Marković takes over as head of industry. For Marković, who began her career at the long-running Bosnian fest 15 years ago, the change “was kind of organic,” offering the kind of smooth transition that has allowed Sarajevo to retain its position as the leading industry confab in Southeast Europe.

Netflix continues to dominate the streaming competition, with the platform recently putting out a range of intriguing trailers for upcoming projects while also seeing some surprising choices pull in huge amounts of subscribers. Furthermore, the streamer put out thirteen new titles this weekend, including an underrated Jamie Foxx thriller that’s already doing well with audiences, as well as a host of returning and new television shows. But what are the best new movies and series to enjoy on Netflix at the moment?
First up is Sleepless, the previously mentioned Jamie Foxx thriller from 2017, where his character infiltrates a gang to rescue his son. We also get some strong turns from Scoot McNairy and David Harbour in a film that doesn’t have the kindest critical reputation, but has still managed to climb to #2 in the Netflix movie charts this weekend. It’s been a pretty good couple of months for streaming fans, and it seems like every platform is aiming to ensure viewers stuck inside have plenty to watch and enjoy until life resumes some sense of normalcy again. On that note, this weekend marks yet another few days of further content drops from all of your favorite streaming services, including Netflix, Hulu, Disney Plus, and Amazon Prime.
Up first, Netflix is releasing the second season of its hit show, Dead to Me, a dark comedy about loss, grief, and friendship with incredible performances from veteran TV actresses Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini.
Hulu, meanwhile, is debuting the very first season of the new animated show, Solar Opposites, created by Rick and Morty masterminds Justin Roiland and Mike McMahan. If you’re a fan of Roiland’s foul-mouth, wacky brand of humor, it might be worth checking out for a weekend binge.

With much of the world’s population currently advised to remain at home due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Netflix (and other streaming services) are more popular than ever. The company is reporting record audience numbers, which isn’t exactly surprising given that they almost literally have a captive audience, and over the last few weeks, Netflix has become so popular that in Europe they’ve had to decrease their video quality as so many people are streaming that they were in danger of slowing down the whole internet.

Hallowed Ground is a horror movie that doesn’t waste any time in pulling you in as a viewer. The opening scene itself giving you a good idea of what you might be in store for.
Written by Miles Doleac, whose previous directing and writing work included features Demons (2017), The Hollow (2016) and The Historian (2014), Hallowed Ground follows the tale of a married couple who attempt to fix their marriage after turbulent times involving cheating and drifting apart, so they take a trip to a cabin in the middle of nowhere in order to get some time together. While there, they encounter Native American owners of the cabin, and a nearby clan, who are embarking on a not-so-pleasant feud over the land.

We’ve got a trailer to share with you for a new horror thriller called Hallowed Ground, which comes from director Miles Doleac.
The film is described as being "in the tradition of The Green Inferno and Deliverance." The story follows a married couple (Lindsay Anne Williams and Sherri Eakin), “trying to rebuild their relationship after an affair, travels to a secluded cabin and stumbles into a blood feud between the Native American owners of the property and the neighboring clan, who obsessively guard their land and punish those who trespass on it in terrifying ways.”
As you’ll see in the trailer, this looks like a crazy extreme, cult-ish, and masochistic kind of film. If you’re into this kind of stuff, then maybe this will be something you’ll enjoy.
The movie also stars Ritchie Montgomery, Lindsay Anne Williams, Sherri Eakin, Miles Doleac, Jeremy Sande, and Cotton Yancey.

"Our neighbors are vehemently possessive of their land..." Uncork'd Entertainment has debuted an official trailer for an indie horror film titled Hallowed Ground, the latest from filmmaker Miles Doleac. A sexual assault allegation against Backtreet Boys singer Nick Carter by actress/singer Melissa Schuman is under review by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
The charges were presented July 31 by the Santa Monica Police Department and stem from an incident that dates to 2003. Schuman publicly revealed the incident in a November online post.
Carter, age 38, has denied the allegations. Schuman filed her police report in February, claiming the #MeToo movement empowered her to finally come forward. She wrote in November 2017 that she was “forced to engage in an act against my will” at his apartment and claimed that Carter assaulted her. They were both appearing in the film The Hollow at the time and were socializing on a day off from the shoot.
In addition to his singing career, Carter toplined reality series House of Carters which aired in 2006 on E! He’s also had guest roles on Undateable and 90210.

There are just five episodes of The Originals left.
It was confirmed last year that the hit vampire drama is coming to an end, series creator Julie Plec took to social media early Thursday morning to warn fans that multiple "significant deaths" are on the horizon.
"After tonight, there are five episodes of #TheOriginals left before the end of it's run," Plec dished.
"There are about as many significant deaths coming. I know you're mourning, and it's going to be hard, but there is some real beauty, love, and peace to come too. Buckle up."
When a supernatural series is coming to a close, it's generally the rule of thumb that multiple deaths will occur in the final episodes.

The opening scenes of The Hollow reminded me of the opening of Zork, one of the first text-based computer games. Back in the early 1980s, I remember eagerly buying the game and staring at the opening line, white text on the black computer screen: "You are standing in an open field west of a white house, with a boarded front door." I was stumped, and never did get very far. Happily, the three young, primary characters in The Hollow are far more intelligent than I have ever been. They awaken with no memory in a bunker constructed of large stones.
