Well the first thing that grabbed me about this was the very strange and atmospheric style of the animation, it looked almost like stop motion and I quite liked it, it was beautifully gothic and very striking, and the tone of it was very ominous and fascinating as the ancient witch Baba Yaga was approached in her nightmarish dwelling place by an arrogant young noble on horseback who boldly declared that in exchange for a drink of the precious elixir of eternal youth, which she guards, he will lead her to many more human bones for her collection, only he betrays her by burning her beloved walking house of bones to ashes and steals the water of life, to which she wrecks a terrible vengeance by tainting the elixir so that he is indeed young forever, but as an inhuman fiend that is neither living nor dead and that needs the blood of the living to survive, cursed until the end of time... Thus the first vampire was born of Baba Yaga's savage malice! I love the mythology of this short and how it adds new bits of lore to these famous figures of dark fantasy, especially Baba Yaga who is very powerful and not to be trifled with at all, as Prince Vlad learns to his eternal cost! I love the way it uses all of the witch's classic touches, she's in the flying cauldron and she lives in her freaky living house with the chicken legs, it was very terrifically brought to life in this short it really left me wanting more like it. Suspenseful animation, thrilling atmospherics and great use of one of the more scary creations of folklore, very cool stuff and what an excellent short, I really loved it! X
