Alia Shawkat, Seth Rogen, Kumail Nanjiani, Lakeith Stanfield, Zack Fox and Tony Hale have joined Kristen Stewart in “The Wrong Girls” at Neon.

The film, which marks Dylan Meyer’s directorial debut, began shooting last week, becoming one of the first independent films going into production in Los Angeles following January’s devastating wildfires. Neon will release the film theatrically in the U.S. and represent the international rights.

Over the course of the film’s 29-day production, which began last week, the film will employ approximately 100 people per day, 95% of which will be local L.A. residents, including Emmy-nominated cinematographer Todd Banhazl, singer-songwriter and composer Ty Segall and Emmy-nominated costumer Heidi Bivens (“Euphoria”).

Written and directed by Meyer (“Moxie”), the film follows Frankie (Stewart) and Molly (Shawkat), codependent best friends living paycheck to paycheck and bong rip to bong rip, when a case of mistaken identity throws their lives into chaos.

The action icon attended a premiere screening of the HBO anthology drama and posted a photo of the two on Instagram.

“She was a finalist to play Kimberly in Season 1,” co-creator and executive producer Justin Noble says, adding that Lawrence was in the final three under consideration for the role, which eventually went to Pauline Chalamet. Kristen Stewart is getting into business with Fremantle.

The Oscar-nominated Spencer star’s Nevermind Pictures, which she runs with Dylan Meyer and Maggie McLean, has struck a first-look deal with the super-indie, which will become the primary home for its film and TV projects. Nevermind launched quietly last year and is one of the producers behind The Challenger, Stewart’s TV series-starring debut in which she’ll play the first American woman to fly in space, revealed by Deadline two weeks ago.

The first projects under the Fremantle deal will be announced shortly and include a wide range encompassing films, drama and docs, according to the firm. Stewart, Meyer and McLean’s role will vary on each project, with Stewart directing, writing and/or acting, Meyer directing and writing, and all three partners producing.

Audacy’s Cadence13 Studios today announced a partnership with Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning writer, actress, producer and director Amy Poehler’s Paper Kite Productions – the production company behind hit shows including Russian Doll, Broad City and Harlem – for a 30-episode comedy franchise featuring stories that parody and pay homage to popular themes in the podcast space.

The franchise will be broken out into three seasons of 10 episodes. Each will focus on a central character and distinct theme; however, characters will make crossover appearances across stories and seasons.

The actor, writer and producer will spoof podcast tropes in a new three-season scripted comedy podcast franchise for Cadence13. Poehler’s Paper Kite Productions together with writer-producer Liz Cackowski inked a 30-episode deal with Audacy’s Cadence13 for the series, featuring stories that parody — and pay homage to — popular themes in the podcast space.

“We are huge fans of podcasts and we can’t wait to poke fun at all the things we love about them, and to do so with Cadence13,” Poehler and Cackowski said in a joint statement.
