This anime did a very good job portraying the growth of a couple, how they met, how they got together, and how they became more familiar with each other. Although both characters are shy, they can be brave facing obstacles in front of their path, which is admirable. It's also not like your average first love anime where the two protagonists just keep hinting at each other and NEVER make a move. It's less idealized, more realistic, and more enjoyable to watch.
Non-spoiler review:
Visuals: 9, The art style was great and the animation was great as well. The only things I didn't like were a personal flaw in the art style and the abundance of CGI crowds.
Music: 9, The only bad things I have to say is that a few songs were forgettable. The rest was amazing.
Story: 10, My favorite part. Sometimes the characters acted a little weird or out-of-character. But it very realistic, not too cliche, and VERY emotional
Character: 9, I loved the characters that they had. The main characters were convincing introverts and the friends felt realistic as well. My only problem was some forgettable characters.
Enjoyment: 10, Many good emotional moments and relatable characters
Spoiler review:
Story: I loved how they wrote Kotaro and Akane, they really felt like real introverts. How they got silent for a few seconds when something awkward happened or how they actually had friends and weren't anti-social human beings. Those aspects of they're personality also helped a lot to make their relationship feel real, and it really felt like it. It felt like they were made to be with each other, but not in an unrealistic way. And then we have the ending, wow. It was probably the most emotional ending I have seen ever. At first, it was a sad feeling. We didn't know what was going to happen after Akane's move. And then they show what happens next and the tears continued, but this time because we get to see their relationship evolve until they get married and get a baby. That was easily my favorite part of the story. But there were things I didn't like. Some characters acted weird sometimes (only like one or two times). Like when Chinatsu asks Akane if she can tell Kotaro she likes him. That felt like a pretty scummy thing to ask. Then Kotaro and Akane had like one or two scenes where they acted out-of-character. But other than these flaws, it was amazing.
Art: Wow, the art style was really. The only thing I didn't like about the art style was the white around the characters, which bothered me sometimes when it looked weird. Other than that, the art style was great. But if I want to talk about the animation in the show, you kind of have to talk about the CGI crowds. Sometimes they were just in the background not bothering me, but then there as shots between scenes with the only CGI crowds. It looked really weird when they were in the center of the shots. That was probably the worst thing in the show, the overabundance of CGI crowds.
Music: Again, wow. Yeah, a few songs were pretty forgettable. But the rest, OMG, they were fantastic. Right after finishing the show I listened to many of the songs. They really helped put emotion in the scenes. And when there wasn't any music, that helped too
Characters: Like I said, I loved the main ones. How their introverted side is presented and their personality in general. But what about the other characters. They were all pretty good. Kotaro's friends felt like real friends. And so did Akane's friends, all but Chinatsu. She and Hira were pretty scummy at some points. But they weren't really presented as bad characters either.
Conclusion: So there you have it. It was probably my favorite romance anime of all time. It was realistic, sweet and terribly emotional. Would highly recommend. 8/10

Let's get one thing clear, this series is blasphemously underrated and under-watched. It is one of the hidden gems that came out this year. It's heartwarming, soothing, and relatable. The reason behind it is because of its aesthetic simplicity and its mesmerizing realism, it feels relatable and close to heart due to the shyness and awkwardness. These things which are rarely seen in romance series across any medium. The character designs are simple yet interesting, plot is simple yet captivating, story is simple yet heartwarming, animation is simple yet eye-catching, and the soundtrack compliments the emotional and romantic feel of the anime. I have no real criticism for this series as it lays out everything perfectly. There is no extravagant scenery or any breathtaking visuals, but the thing that makes this anime special is faithfulness to real life. I don't think I've been this satisfied from a 12 episode anime ever.

Ok, so I just finished watching the entire series in a few hours. I have to say that I have never seen an anime or movie that has touched me in such a good way. Many aspects of the show really parallels things that happened in my life, so I was able to relate to this show. There are a lot of good life lessons this show gives us that we can take away and apply to our own lives. Love is not easy and there will always be obstacles in challenges in the way to try to "sabotage" what you have. Also, Friends are important and they show their importance in this anime, especially to, Kotaro, the main male character by being sort of like his guardian Angels...
Furthermore, this anime is very smart on how they portray things. The silence of the characters are done on purpose and the "sound effects" are used to let us know how they are feeling. The BGM and all vocal songs sang by Nao T. are also very well executed. She covered many old JPOP classics and made them her own and sang them all better then the originals. The drawings can be at times extremely simple and sometimes very scenic, both ways works. Most of the scenes they drew in the anime are in fact taken from 100% actual places in Japan that I want to visit one day.
Fortunately, or unfortunately..., this will be a tough one to top or even beat, if ever. If there was ever anime romance anime or even movie, I would probably compare them with this anime. They would either be better or not good enough compared to Tsuki ga Kirei. Definitely my top 3 favorite anime of all time and I'll be watching it over and over again because I enjoyed it that much!

I think this to be the best anime. The story is about two teenagers falling in love for the first time. It proceeds through the problems they face in keeping their relation . It's really heartwarming and realistic. Simplicity makes this anime more genuine. What I love most in this is the ending. It's really rare to see such kind of ending in anime . I would highly recommend this one.

The moonlight is so beautiful
In the end, I knew it was the memory of two people, crying for the love of two people (I believe in love again!) What makes me feel more is their honesty ~
Maybe it is because Wolmi s production is so conscientious that even the subtitle team is taking it seriously. :)
This is also what the moon wants to tell us, people in life will always encounter this and that kind of frustration, upset, upset things. During the period of love, we need to face together and work together.
Sometimes we get so caught up in our own thoughts that we forget to be honest. Like Akane and Qixia's friendship. Some things, say it, it's good, not so complicated.
And that's exactly what the moon brings to us, picking up what we've forgotten, what's been covered up. Between friendship, between love, the most pure, the most beautiful side.
Mutual encouragement :)

The shows brings out light on a romance between two young shy people, which is never seen before and the rich story is so incredible and wonderful. It's a must see anime.
To be honest, I think this show is one of those rare creative works that really shines for the Spring 2017 season!
An original work that combines characters with a middle school theme, romance, and awkward moments that we have all experienced at some point in our lives. I agree that this show is enjoyable to watch and refreshing, as have some others mentioned.
The plot progresses well over time. With so many scenes and action sequences completed in one sitting, it doesn't feel overly hurried. The plot developed at a respectable, steady pace. That being said, there is a noticeable degree of time-lapsing between each episode. Since the character growth happened at a speed that was neither too rapid for viewers to try to understand nor too sluggish for them to get bored, I really like how the characters developed.
The artwork is of high caliber. A couple of the sequences were really wonderfully done. Apart from that, I don't believe it would have a significant impact on my ranking. I thought the character artwork was good, and I thought Akane was cute.
It's the sounds that I found pleasing. Each member of the ensemble aligns with the roles they portray. The sounds that Akane creates are what caught my attention. "Eh?" "Aah!" "Un!" similar to Kumiko sounds. On the other hand, Kotarou sounds like a masculine Akane-"Ah.." "ooh.." "Un." (lol) That did, however, inspire me to work on a film that would honor their respective noises from each episode.
I won't say too much about the characters because doing so might reveal plot points, but they are interesting people that you will either find endearing or laugh out loud at, or perhaps leave wondering, "What? Not at all! Never dare to do that!" It's the usual gamut of feelings and misconceptions you encounter in middle and high school. The producers and staff did, in my opinion, succeed in giving the characters a more intriguing feel as opposed to a lifeless one.
It was a delightful show to watch. I found it intriguing to read the SMS conversations that take place in the emergency department. It seems that there was a forum topic created just for translating the exchanges. In any case, the epilogue's shorts were quite entertaining. A few of which are humorous.

I had such high hopes for this one cause of the ratings but don't believe it for this one. If u wanna watch 12 eps of the main characters being slow af nd just not speaking to each other go for it. This was supposed to be realistic but is it really? It's just plain with nothing to grip u in.

I just finished Tsuki ga Kirei (As the moon, so beautiful) and I'm speechless. The show took me to another world with all these amazing characters. Akane and Azumi have the most realistic chemistry I have ever seen on-screen.
The music was breathtaking all the effort in the sound design shows and excels. Every awkward silence and look these two characters gave each other were powerful and spoke more words then anything they said afterwards.
Although some of the art wasn't all too good most of it (especially the character design was amazing still. I can't even to begin how great the show was. The ending was just what the show needed. This was my new favorite TV experience and not enough people watched it.
I hope I can get people to watch this. If you search anything up about the show and think you would like it (just sayin') you would probably fall in love with it.

My heart felt so heavy after finishing this incredible romantic story; made me think of what it would've been like for me to experience love at that young of an age.
Along with a heartwarming storyline, vivid & colorful animation, and meaningful, irreplaceable characters, I would say that this slice-of-life is too good to watch again as I wouldn't know if I could hold my emotions back!!
I highly recommend this to anyone young enough who doesn't understand the meaning of a meaningful, heartwarming, & romantic relationship and hope that they find something similar as they progress in life!! I wish I could, but I guess not everyone has a love story that endures for a lifetime. Someday, I hope I can discover my significant other and give to them as much love as I can. Till then, I wish everyone a great day/night and hope you find a special someone worth sharing your life with!

A very cute, sweet, and innocent romance anime about two middle school students who fall in love and develop their character along the way. The show is overall very enjoyable to watch and has many heartwarming and adorable scenes throughout. It's interesting to see the two main characters discovering romance for the first time, and eventually maturing and learning from their experiences at middle school. That being said, there are only some very minor issues setting the anime back, such as some cringey and awkward moments, but overall the positives far outweigh the negatives. If you're a fan of romance, go watch this right now, you won't be disappointed.
PROS: + Outrageously adorable and cute romance + Viewers can relate to the realism of the characters and situations + Great musical score + Satisfying ending with proper closure
CONS: - Some bad CGI animations - Some cringey and awkward scenes between the two MCs, but this eventually goes away halfway through the show - The anime is a bit too serious in my opinion and could use more humor/comic relief

This is easily my favourite romance anime and one of the best animes I've seen. Maybe that's because I personally really connected with it the same way as I did with Bocchi The Rock. This is a very calm, quiet and realistic romance about 2 introverts who start dating, and try to figure out how they can communicate with each other, as they slowly fall in love. I love how realistic this relationship felt and how they managed to move the story, without feeling rushed.
The way they portray how these 2 characters communicated was really well done. Even when they spend time together, they just sit with each other quietly. That silence can feel awkward but it doesn't, because they're comfortable being silent among each other. I thought that was brilliant. Another thing I loved was how they both inspired each other to do better. Given how easily they both can get nervous, just the existence of one person gave the other one courage.
The conclusion, honestly, brought tears to my eyes. It's really really good. Don't miss the post credit scene of the final episode.
Some people might think that this anime is boring. Because it is pretty slow and it's just a romance, without any comedy (except for the post credit scenes of every episode which are hilarious). So it'd be better not to expect this to be a rom-com. This is just a romance, and a brilliant one.
This isn't as famous as other animes either, so I'd really recommend you guys to watch it.

The story tells about a love story between two introvert middle schoolers. The story is more realistic and in some moments, you can feel your heart beats .The shyness of the characters (introvert) expressed in the anime was soo cute...and it was so relatable(how they become happy in every message they got etc..- these are simple things but its directly connects to us the viewers).
The character development was superb and the way the story carries is soo good.
In my opinion the style of animation can be made more attaractive with more details. Maybe its only my opinion..
OVER ALL THIS ANIME NEVER LET YOU DOWN.
