This movie is based on a short 4D cinema/ride at a tourist attraction in the UK called "Wookey Hole". The animation and basic premise are the same - a family transformed into monsters - but it occurs on a roller coaster ride.
Catherine Tate's character is a witch named Baba Yaga. Baba Yaga is a popular witch from the Slavic mythology, and main star of Baba Yaga (1973).
When Wishbone family are turned in monsters, it replicates, almost completely, The Munsters (1964): Frank is a version of Herman Munster (Frankenstein's creature), Emma is a version Lilly Munster (vampire) and Max is a version of Eddie Munster (werewolf). The only exception is Fay, turned in a mummy meanwhile Marilyn Munster was the only human being in the family.
The suit Dracula wears to walk in the Sun is very similar in appearance to Magneto's costume in the X-Men films. Also, his vampire jet is similar to the X-Jet used to carry the X-Men on missions.
