Series star Anthony Middleton has appeared in other channel 4 programmes such as SAS: Who Dares Wins.
Despite the life and death struggle portrayed by a crew set adrift in small boat, the participants in the series were never actually in any serious danger. Numerous safety precautions were in place such as a large modern logistics ship shadowing the launch, complete with medical personnel, a support crew, and rescue swimmers. The launch crew were also regularly provided with water, sunscreen, and an external food supply to prevent malnutrition and scurvy. The one significant danger, however, was the launch capsizing, which could have caused serious injury or death, and to prevent this the series participants conducted numerous drills and exercises to prevent the launch for overturning in heavy weather.
