Originally scheduled to shoot in June of 2020 but production was postponed because of the COVID pandemic.
The Apache Woman character who explains Jack's background was originally cast as a male part. When the actor was unable to be on set because of COVID, the woman's role was expanded.
The character of Sergeant Meeker was named after Ralph Meeker who played a Cavalry soldier in The Naked Spur and his monologue was inspired by Duvall's character in Apocalypse Now.
The original script was written in 2014.
This film is one of Jay Pickett's last performances. He passed away less than a year later while also working with Travis Mills on Treasure Valley.
