Chôeki san kyôdai

Starring Bunta Sugawara and Takakura Ken, only Ando Noburu and Koji Tsuruta missed in this gritty, brutal Japanese yakuza movie. One among many others of this kind, among but not above though. It is a storu where it is question of manhood, friendship, loyalty; useless to say that there are only a few women here. Not the kind of film that Western countries audiences would crave for. The gang war scheme about which it is useless to give the details, that are the same for any yakuza film. I don't know the director, the only one I knew was Kinji Fukasaku, the best of them all, I guess, the director whose filmography is sometimes celebrated in France, in local festivals.
