Even given the cast's pedigree, the film moves aimlessly slow. The interactions are genuine enough and the cinematography is the biggest positive of the movie. But too often it's uncomfortable silences when it shouldn't be. There's scenes that linger when they shouldn't. It feels like they were given a skeleton script and asked to fill in when needed, which they struggle to do at times.
Understandably, no one needs to know all the backstory, all the dialogue, all of everything to enjoy a movie. Hardwick's character seems so flawed and wide ranging (I guess LA type like Issa Rae says) and is almost the weight holding the movie down. All in all, it beautifully shot, reminiscent of Collateral in a way, but hard to pay attention to.

It was easy to watch for me . A good break from my usual thriller or drama movies that I love. It reveals simplistically the "coincidence" of love, attraction and .... But then I am a hopeless romantic 😍😍

The cinematography is nice but the story like is like watching paint dry. I'm sorry but I didn't like it but I gave it slime stars because the music and camera angles. That's about it.
This movie could have been dont as a short film, maybe 15 to 20 minutes and conveyed the same. There are so many long moments of silence and it doesn't seem to serve a purpose or set a tone besides making the watcher feel slightly uncomfortable. This is the first time I was truly glad to see a movie end!

Don't waste your time, this low budget crap. I was really expecting something good and I've just wasted 1hr 30 mins of my time.

The Tense, cagey back and forth between Omari and Megan was a bit much. Like what was each other's problems with each other but they still spent the entire movie together. I think the reason why Cass was so interested in the election could have been fleshed our more. Megan's lawyer background deserved the same treatment. We also need an explanation as to why Cass was so hesitant about releasing his film. Great musical background tho.
A lot of us african americans hate reliving that election...and this brought it back. BUT the whole story of these 2 meeting and getting together...kinda...well...FELT REAL. Not like storybook romance either - real. Their angst, the tension, the closeness. The movie was a bit dry, but again, there was feeling between the characters and that is what I liked most!

No plot, no discernible narrative; just a boy and a girl that could possibly be real people but felt like robots wandering aimlessly trying to replicate every basic human characteristic they've encountered. If only they had hearts installed...
The tone, lighting and mood set in this film are all well done. I also enjoyed what the actors tried to do with the characters in this film - the actions and emotions seem natural and real in a way that could happen in real life.
Unfortunately the movie does have its shortcomings - it's rather thin, there isn't much there beyond the tension between the two main characters.

I had big expectations when I saw this actor Omar but I found that it was a low budget movie, with no interesting subject.

If this film ran any slower it would be in reverse. What a boring yawn. Get to the damn point! Talk! You lost almost all your viewers in the first 20 minutes...

It's starts off with a group of people waiting at this food cart. One of the guys Cass is the owner of the club they're waiting to get into to. His only other male friend of the group is loud and thinks he's funny but he loves being the centre of attention. Ok if you have the owner of the club you're wanting to get into why are you waiting by a food cart? Come on he's the owner! I lost interest in the movie right then. This chick Free stops at the cart for a sandwich to which she's commences eating it sitting by herself by this group. Cass goes up to talk to her she tells him she;s ok so he walks away and the group head towards the club next minute she's joining them which is fine. But they get into the club and it's clear Cass is interested in her but he nearly kisses her trying to ask her a question and she awkwardly takes off to the ladies. He goes and he finds her and they start kissing then she freaks out cause he's wanting more and she takes off out of the club. He goes looking for her and she's clearly not impressed so they spat and he goes back toward the club but she gets hit on by 2 aggressive guys and he goes to defend her and because he's black the cops restrain him until she explains it was the other white guys who have since taken off that were harrassing her and he came to her defense. What did it for me was when the cops left? He turns to walk back to the club but she won't let him and she's got her hands all over him treating him like he's her boyfriend. COME ON YOU WIRED WRONG CHICK!!! One minute she seemed like a good girl who is very responsible not drinking type of girl, very intelligent who could hold her own and not let anyone walk over her then by the click of the fingers she turned into a man eating maniac until he wanted to take it to more then she freaked out leaving the club. That's fine but when he finds her outside supposedly trying to catdch a ride home they end up in a spat cause all she wanted was the frenzic passionate kissing but nothing more and he did so he walks back toward the club and he hears arguing and goes back to defend her honor from these 2 guys who are hitting on her and she's clearly upset trying to get away from her. The cops see the fighting and they restrain Cass cause he's black and they assume off the bat he's the one who's harrassing Free and the 2 guys who happen to be white they let go they let go. They keep Cass pinned to the wall until Free explains he had come to her defense as the other 2 they had let go who were the ones harassing her. When the cops leave he's angry and turns to walk back to the club again and again like a switch went off in her head she stops him and has her hands all over him like she's his girlfriend and wanting him to talk to her like they're a couple or besties WHAT??? COME ON YOU CONFUSED WEIRDO CHICK! MAKE YOUR MIND UP!!! Aaaaand that's when this film completely lost me and I couldn't stand to watch anymore of it. She CONFUSED THE HELL OUT OF ME AND BECAUSE OF HER TO-ING AND FRO-ING I WANT YOU/I DON'T WANT YOU ATTITUDE IT MADE THE MOVIE SLOOOOOW! Watch at your own risk... You've been INFORMED

Naturally expected an amazing film giving who the lead actor/actress was. The film was pointless and the lack of budget really shows. The concept of the film was not successfully portrayed and the poor filming made it ever so hard to concentrate; I started to feel nauseous with the unsteady hand of the camera man!
There were so many periods of silence throughout the film that could've been chopped and replaced with actual real film content that'd help the viewer not feel like it's a waste of time. Not quite sure if production was having an off day (I say day because the film gave off the vibe that the whole 90 minutes were shot in one, poor take) but definitely much more room for improvement and the burning need for a far more developed story line.

Boring . Slow. Drag. Waste of time. Awkward movie.
Just plain terrible. How is this considered a real movie? Real disappointment. Get to the point already. I wanted to stop watching after the 1st 5min. Mad I kept watching thinking something good would come out of it.... Nope.

At first I write big review, most of it not about film, but about director and his girlfriend and other sensitive stuff. Then I delete it because imdb did this anyway, so in sum: its not a romantic story at all, yes its pretty impressive how it was shot, but we here to watch a film, not a picture themself, and a film its like need to have story. Story in this flick pretty generic its like another one love night in cityname, dialogs is boring, nothing new. BUT then it goes to politic. Oh wow. I have some issues with one (only one!) scene from Blackkklansman (wich is not from original script, but added only for political statement and for falsification of real history - I think, because I didn't read the book, maybe it was real part of it), but in "A Boy. A Girl. A Dream" I have tons of really laughable opinions (especially when I see it like from 2018) and BIG WORDS about baaaad peeeople. So now industrialist's who try to make Detroit great again - is bad people. Okay. I just stop on this, because I clearly see all characters in film was or rich people from show business or people who want to be in show biz. So why I even should be bother about opinion of this people. And I didn't, just say your film is political pamphlet. Its note romance at all.

The only thing interesting about this movie is that it was filmed in a single shot. I don't understand what the concept is.
This film shows the depth of feelings of many that night in the USA and abroad. Creative and expressive - and the single shot was incredible.

Listen... I'm so moved by this movie. It was raw and real without all the perfect scenes. You could feel every moment. Slow and steady plot but, oh so worth it. I am still full of emotion after watching. Yes yes YES. Amazing!

Not much to say. I'm in the industry (show runner for Blood Brother Chronicles) This sweeping story is about as honest as it gets. My heart goes out to Cass. It's hard fighting that fight EVERY project, but you keep on. This film moved me with its quietness, the very long dramatic shots that seemed to offer us a look past two people in dramatic times, peering deep into their souls. Then asking us to do the same without blinking.
Beautifully done. I cried after this movie.
I feel validated.
