Kevin Williamson, who wrote the original Scream film, has confirmed that filming for Scream 7 started on January 7, 2025. He shared this news on his official Instagram account.
This marks Williamson’s return to the director’s chair for the Scream franchise. He previously wrote the first four films but has not written one since Scream 4 in 2011.
The movie has been plagued with various casting and production issues, which is why this confirmation is definitely great news. Filming is taking place in Atlanta, Georgia, under the working title ‘Scar Tissue.’ The production is scheduled to continue until March 12, 2025.

What started with the Texas-based Dutton family in Taylor Sheridan’s hit Western drama Yellowstone has evolved into a sprawling franchise, including spin-offs like 1883, 1923, and more on the horizon. And while the masses have embraced the shows for their captivating storylines and characters, one of the series’ stars initially questioned whether she was the right fit for her role.

1883 actress Isabel May will play the daughter of Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott in Spyglass Media Group’s upcoming Scream 7. The deal is finalized.
The American actress is best known for starring as Katie Cooper on the Netflix series Alexa & Katie and had a recurring role as Veronica Duncan on the CBS series Young Sheldon. She held the lead role of Zoe Hull in the film Run Hide Fight. She is the narrator and leading protagonist of the Paramount+ series 1883.
The new Scream movie will include original cast members like Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers. However, Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera, who starred in the previous two films, won’t be in this one.
Ortega dropped out due to her busy schedule, including work on Wednesday and other projects. Barrera was let go last year following controversy over her social media posts about the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Isabel May is set to play the daughter of Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott in “Scream 7,” Variety has confirmed.
May, known for her role as Elsa Dutton in the “Yellowstone” prequels “1883” and “1923,” will star opposite Campbell, who is returning to the horror franchise after sitting out the sixth installment due to a salary dispute. “Scream” creator and writer Kevin Williamson will direct “Scream 7,” while Guy Busick, who wrote the fifth and sixth “Scream” films, is penning the script.
“Scream 7” will finally hit theaters on Feb. 27, 2026, after facing multiple setbacks, including production delays, creative overhauls and cast shakeups. In 2023, Melissa Barrera, who starred in the previous two films, was fired from the sequel over comments she made on social media about the Israel-Hamas war. Jenna Ortega, who co-starred with Barrera, had to drop out of the seventh film due to her shooting schedule for Season 2 of Netflix’s “Wednesday.

Alexa & Katie's final season ends with a heartwarming reunion, symbolized by the best friends wearing each other's college sweatshirts. Netflix officially ended Alexa & Katie in 2020, closing the show with no plans for season 5 due to a natural storyline conclusion. With Paris Berlec and Isabel May in main roles, a potential season 5 could explore the best friends navigating the adult world after college.
While its chances aren't likely, now could be the perfect time for an Alexa & Katie season 5. Premiering in 2018, the excellent Netflix sitcom ran for four parts (three seasons) and chronicles the beloved friendship of the titular duo as they navigate the trials and tribulations of high school life. Though Alexa and Katie approach this new chapter of teenagerhood with optimism, things are complicated when Alexa is diagnosed with cancer. In the ultimate sign of solidarity, Katie shaves her head along with Alexa, setting the tone for a series...

The superhero sitcom The Thundermans centers around a likable cast of characters making up its titular family. In the tradition of such superhero teams as the Fantastic Four, the Incredibles, and the Strongholds, The Thundermans are a family of diversely gifted individuals. Their eponymous show involves their attempt to secretly assimilate as ordinary suburbanites in the fictional town of Hiddenville. Originally broadcast on Nickelodeon from 2013 to 2018, The Thundermans has since acquired a larger fanbase thanks to the show being available to stream on Netflix, Hulu, and Paramount Plus. Its growing popularity has even led to the production of a TV movie revival titled The Thundermans Return.
Throughout its impressively lengthy four-season run, The Thundermans' 98 episodes mostly centered around the two eldest siblings, twins Phoebe and Max, while subplots would concern their parents and younger siblings. The core cast members of the show remain mostly known for their roles among the Thunderman clan.

On Netflix’s new horror show, the terrific and terrifying The Midnight Club from scare maestro Mike Flanagan, most of the characters are high school kids. And they are all facing something darker than evil spirits: none have long left to live. They board together at the storied Brightcliffe Manor, a special hospice for terminally ill teens. Despite the house’s sobering purpose, the atmosphere can verge on gleeful. These kids might be dying, but at least here there aren’t any parents nagging them to be a “fighter”.
There’s only two adults on staff (Heather Langenkamp as Brightcliffe’s founder and Friday Night Lights’ Zach Gilford as its nurse practitioner) and just one rule – a 10pm curfew that the patients treat like a suggestion. At midnight, they creep out of their rooms and into the old mansion’s library to trade scary stories and, like teens with longer life expectancies,...

The emergence of Isabel May as the lead in Taylor Sheridan’s frontier epic series 1883 is such an unlikely discovery story that it still has the actress trying to come to grips with a star-making turn that should factor in the Emmy race.
It was in a casting meeting with May for another project that Sheridan discovered she was exactly the actress he needed for the origin story of Yellowstone’s Dutton clan. He was under great pressure to find the handle for the origin story that consists of a harrowing wagon train caravan from Texas to Montana. Something was missing, though. That was, until he met May for the female lead opposite Jeremy Renner in another of his Paramount+ series, Mayor of Kingstown.
Both he and May felt she wasn’t right for that role (Emma Laird played the troubled Iris), but during that meeting Sheridan found the handle for his period epic,...

I remember when I became the showrunner of my first live-action series, “Supah Ninjas,” I thought I had arrived.
Somehow, against all odds, this show I created with my partner Eric S. Garcia was shooting on the Paramount lot. On the same stage as “Family Ties.” I was officially a part of Hollywood history. When I set foot on stage, I was surprisingly whisked away by an A.D. “Surely,” I thought, “I was being taken to my fancy director’s chair that would make a killer humble-post on my socials.” But instead, I found myself in the holding area with the extras. I learned two things that day. I did not look like someone’s idea of a showrunner. And the holding area is hard to leave.
It was a good reminder that perception shapes reality – and you can literally be trapped by someone else’s perception. It’s...

At first glance, Yellowstone didn’t have the makings of a major TV hit.
By the time Yellowstone premiered in 2018, its creator Taylor Sheridan didn’t have much name recognition beyond action movie die-hards. The show’s name was generic and certainly not search engine friendly. And its home on Paramount Network? One could be forgiven for not knowing where that was in their cable package.
And yet, Yellowstone did become a TV heavy hitter, arguably one of the biggest ones on television. Its ratings are absolutely massive, with the season 4 premiere pulling in a mind-boggling 14 million viewers before streaming was even factored in. Those are the type of Neilsen numbers you just don’t see anymore. Why did Yellowstone buck every possible roadblock trending against it to become TV royalty?
For starters, it’s good. That’s always important. But there’s another factor one can’t overlook: the Kevin Costner factor.

Jennifer Kaytin Robinson’s Netflix dark comedy “Strangers” has found the remainder of its cast and the already star-studded ensemble, which features Camila Mendes, Maya Hawke, Rish Shah and Sophie Turner, just got more high-wattage with a host of rising stars signing onto the movie.
The newly announced cast includes Austin Abrams, Alisha Boe (“13 Reasons Why”), Talia Ryder, Paris Berelc, Jonathan Daviss (“Outer Banks”), Maia Reficco and Ava Capri.
Robinson co-wrote the film’s script with Celeste Ballard, which follows Drea and Eleanor, who, “after a clandestine meet-cute” team up to go after each other’s bullies. The movie is described as a “Hitchcockian dark comedy featuring the scariest protagonists of them all: teenage girls.”
Robinson also produces the film with Anthony Bregman and Peter Cron, for Lucky Story, under their overall deal with Netflix. The movie also marks a reunion between the filmmaker and streamer after their hit...

The Netflix dark comedy “Strangers,” inspired by the Alfred Hitchcock classic “Strangers On a Train,” has added a slew of new actors to its lineup: Austin Abrams, Alisha Boe (“13 Reasons Why”), Talia Ryder, Paris Berelc, Jonathan Daviss (“Outer Banks”), Maia Reficco and Ava Capri.
The new cast members join Camila Mendes, Maya Hawke, Rish Shah and Sophie Turner, who were previously announced for the film.
“Strangers” is directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (“Someone Great”) based on a screenplay she wrote with Celeste Ballard. The film’s premise is in the vein of “Strangers on a Train,” in which two strangers plot to murder someone the other person wants gone.
“Strangers” subverts that idea and stars two teenage girls — one a trendy “it girl” and the other an alternative girl — who team up to go after each other’s bullies.

The 34th annual show aired at 7:30 p.m. Et on Nickelodeon, where “Alexa & Katie” was crowned the favorite kids’ show, but “Stranger Things” won for favorite family show. If “‘Elephant’ meets ‘The Hunger Games'” is your idea of an enticing elevator pitch, you’re unlikely to be disappointed by “Run Hide Fight,” though you might want to take a long hard look at your enthusiasm. Kyle Rankin’s fictitious school-shooting thriller echoes multiple previous films in its evocation of post-Columbine classroom terror, before dubiously distinguishing itself by assuming the perspective of one female student tough enough to fight back. Merely pedestrian at the levels of direction, craft and performance, the film instead makes a grab for attention by peddling an ambiguous line on gun control and eye-for-an-eye morality. Any controversy that ensues, however, won’t disguise the phoniness of this exploitation exercise, which milks the worst fears of millions in pursuit of empty tension. A place in Venice’s official selection, even out of competition, was generous.

As Emmy season kicks into high gear, the Television Academy took a moment on Thursday to celebrate a handful of programs that have tackled critical social issues.
Hosted by “Claws” star Niecy Nash and held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, the event honored the dramas “A Million Little Things” (ABC) and “Pose” (FX); the children’s show “Alexa & Katie” (Netflix); the documentary specials “I Am Evidence” (HBO) and “Rbg” (CNN); and documentary series “Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story” (Paramount Network) and “My Last Days” (The CW).
“Get your Kleenex ready,” Nash quipped at the start of the hour-long ceremony. “These seven honorees carry with them the gravity of each story and power of each singular voice to speak his or her own truth.”
Indeed, the night started off on an emotional note when Sybrina Fulton, the mother of unarmed slain teenager Trayvon Martin, took the stage to...

For over a decade, the Television Academy has been saluting TV programming that motivates social change. For its 12th Television Academy Honors this year, the group has singled out seven different honorees, that span genre, format, and platform.
On the series side, FX’s groundbreaking “Pose” and the ABC drama “A Million Little Things” garnered recognition. Netflix’s multi-cam sitcom “Alexa & Katie” is the lone entry from the world of streaming. A pair of documentary series, “Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story” and “My Last Days,” joined the list alongside doc features “Rbg” and “I Am Evidence.”
Of “Pose,” this Academy’s commendation singled out the way that the series “explores the juxtaposition of several segments of life and society in New York: the ball-culture world, the rise of the luxury Trump-era universe, and the downtown social and literary scene. Making television history, Pose features the largest cast...
