Whitney Sudler-Smith and his mother Patricia Altschul have appeared in Southern Charm since the show premiered in 2014. They have been an on-screen reality TV staple for over a decade, but Whitney is more than just a cast member.
Whitney is the successful Creator and Executive Producer of the show, also serving as an executive producer on the show’s two spin-offs: Southern Charm Savannah and Southern Charm New Orleans. According to ScreenRant, his friendship with local politician Thomas Ravenel inspired him to create the show, but it wasn't always the Bravo show we know and love.
"It was kind of a weird pipe dream and it's kind of ballooned into this monster," Whitney told The Daily Dish in 2018 about the small seed of an idea which ultimately became one of Bravo's biggest shows. "But I think we're all pleased. It's really a great show.

After making comedies about the pro-golf circuit, the school system and college football, Adam Sandler decided to explore the hilarious world of child endangerment with Big Daddy, which also featured pre-Daily Show Jon Stewart, a pre-Knocked Up Leslie Mann and a pre-constantly publicly embarrassing himself Rob Schneider.
Big Daddy recently turned 25, and to mark the anniversary, The Hollywood Reporter chatted with producer Sid Ganis and co-writer Steve Franks, all about how the beloved comedy came together.
The interview is full of intriguing behind-the-scenes tidbits, including the fact that the story was originally set at a theme park, owing to the fact that Franks penned the first draft of the script while working at Disneyland. But it was originally titled Guy Gets Kid, which kind of makes it sound like a revenge movie about a man seeking payback against a child.

Growing up, there wasn’t a girl group more important to Renée Rapp than Destiny’s Child. The influence of the trio’s runs and harmonies are subtly woven into the pop singer’s performance style, which was also shaped by the group she spent some time in: the questionably named Daddy’s Little Girls.
“That’s how I think of it much later in my life,” Rapp said during her recent appearance on the Jennifer Hudson Show when the host was taken aback by the name. “I’m like,...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for How I Met Your Father Season 2 Episode 11 “Daddy.”] Suit up! Neil Patrick Harris returns as How I Met Your Mother‘s Barney Stinson in the midseason finale of the Hulu sequel series. Picking up from where How I Met Your Father left off Sophie (Hilary Duff) in the Season 2 premiere, we see her spill all about suspecting that her new boyfriend Robert (John Corbett) might actually be her dad (he’s not); if the story’s juicy enough, she doesn’t have to pay for the repairs on Barney’s car after rear-ending him. Barney, meanwhile, now gets shocked by his ankle monitor every time he utters a problematic word or phrase (a.k.a. a lot). And in the end, he has some advice that Sophie decides to follow: tracking down her dad could lead to something great. Here, Harris talks about donning a suit to play Barney once again.

Barney Stinson made his legen—dary return to the How I Met Your Mother universe with Tuesday’s midseason finale of How I Met Your Father‘s sophomore run.
After Sophie (Hilary Duff) abandoned her older boyfriend Robert (John Corbett) when she discovered he may actually be her father, she rear-ended an Audi, which ended up belonging to none other than Neil Patrick Harris’ Barney.
“Duuuuude,” he tells her. As she starts to apologize, he cuts her off and begins reading a rolled-up piece of paper. “Me first. My name is Barney Stinson, and I am a recovering serial womanizer. We are likely speaking today because you are a woman I once concocted an elaborate scheme to have sex with. I fully understand why you’ve exacted revenge on me.”

When ‘Miss Lovely’, centering around Mumbai’s C-grade porn and horror industry, released it did many things… most of all challenging the very grammar of Indian cinema. One had rarely seen a Hindi film crossing multiple genres, bringing into play different styles and playing on several narratives simultaneously… at once reminding the viewer of Wong Kar Wai and a certain suspended magic realism. Director Ashim Ahluwalia had arrived. And in style.
Cut to 11 years later as his series ‘Class’, adapted from the Spanish series ‘Elite’ currently being streamed on Netflix is hooking viewers. Exploring the dynamics at an elite school, and what happens when some ‘other’ students join the institution – a collision of two worlds – shaking up everything from the roots.
Ahluwalia says he wanted to make something about teenagers for a quite while – the strong, conflicted emotions of the young. “I could personally really relate to that struggle as I was a rebellious,...

Exclusive: Ashim Ahluwalia, known as a director of edgy films such as John & Jane and Miss Lovely that have premiered at Toronto and Cannes film festivals, is not an obvious choice to direct a young adult drama series for Netflix. But when local production house Bodhi Tree Multimedia approached him with a proposal for a Hindi remake of Spanish show Elite, he jumped at the chance.
“I’ve always been interested in making something on teenagers, especially wealthy urban teenagers, because that’s a world that I know,” says Ahluwalia, who grew up in the tony neighborhoods of south Mumbai. “I went to a school that was very different to the school in Elite, or in this series, but had the same elements of class conflict. So while I’d never thought about doing a series before, I thought this would be an interesting project to do.”

When mastering engineer Emerson Mancini works on an album, he typically doesn’t listen closely to the lyrics during his first session. But as he engineered Kendrick Lamar’s “Auntie Diaries,” from the album Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, Mancini had an emotional reaction to the words Lamar recited.
“My auntie is a man now/I think I’m old enough to understand now,” the prolific artist raps.
“I was like, ‘What? What’s happening? What is this?’ I ultimately had to stop and play the whole thing,” Mancini admitted. “I needed to know what this is about because I had just started taking testosterone a couple of months prior. The whole experience was really raw at the moment, and it was amazing to me.”

‘The Killing of Two Lovers’ Reinvents the Dysfunctional Family Drama by Making It Thrilling to Watch
It only takes a matter of seconds for “The Killing of Two Lovers” to justify its title. David (Clayne Crawford), bearded and disheveled, hovers in a bedroom with a pistol in his hands as his wife Nikki (Sepideh Moafi) sleeps alongside her new boyfriend Derek (Chris Coy). It’s a riveting start to writer-director Robert Machoian’s , which reinvents the clichés of the dysfunctional family drama by making them thrilling to watch.
Needless to say, David’s not quite ready to pull the trigger, and the camera chases him out the door as he catches his breath. Caught between caring for his ailing father (Bruce Graham) and begging Nikki to let him back into her life, he’s either hit rock bottom or floating just above it. The movie huddles alongside him as he attempts to fix a broken household well beyond repair.

Peacock has handed Stephen Dunn’s reboot of British drama Queer as Folk a series order.
The project, which comes from UCP, was originally in development with Bravo back in 2018, before moving to the NBCU streamer in 2019, and has now been given a straight-to-series order.
It is a reboot of Russell T. Davies’ series, which starred Aidan Gillen, Charlie Hunnam and Craig Kelly as three gay men living in Manchester. A U.S. remake, set in Pittsburgh, also aired on Showtime.
The Peacock series will be set in New Orleans and will follow a diverse group of friends whose lives are transformed in the aftermath of a tragedy.
Dunn, who has written and directed on Apple TV+’s Little America and is adapting the novel Yes, Daddy at Amazon with Patrick Moran, created the reboot and will write and exec produce. He will also direct the pilot episode. Exec producers include Lee Eisenberg,...

When Birds of Prey landed with a thud at the box office in February, forcing Warner Bros. to almost immediately change the title for marketing purposes in the hopes that Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn would be enough to draw in audiences who weren’t entirely sure what the movie was supposed to be, it looked like a total washout for both the studio and the Dceu.
A global haul of $201 million made it the lowest-earning installment in the shared superhero universe by quite some distance, but one small positive is that it was half as expensive to produce as the majority of comic book blockbusters, so Birds of Prey still managed to turn a profit theatrically, before strong digital and VOD sales kept it firmly in the black.

Adam Sandler might be Netflix’s biggest drawing card, with his star vehicles always guaranteed to pull in huge numbers and crack the Top 10 most-watched list whether they’re brand new or two decades old, but the streaming service signed a deal with Happy Madison Productions and not the actor himself, meaning Sandler also gets to put his producing hat on and give some of his buddies their share of the spotlight.
This is hardly a new development, though, and ever since Happy Madison was founded in 1999, the company has churned out a series of movies featuring the Big Daddy star’s regular troupe of frequent collaborators. That includes the Paul Blart duology and Here Comes the Boom with Kevin James, Rob Schneider’s Deuce Bigalow, The Animal and The Hot Chick, and, of course, one of the worst comedies in the history of cinema, otherwise known as Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star.

According to an April 7 tweet (see it below), the Pulitzer Prizes for Journalism, Books, Drama, and Music will be delayed by two weeks. The winners will be announced via a livestream on pulitzer.org on Monday May 4th at 3:00pm. Fear not, ye sensitive viewers who have stumbled into writer-director Sam Levinson’s story of four young women who go from shamed, blamed, framed victims to avenging angels: You’ll get a brief roll-call montage of “trigger warning” alerts before the insanity kicks in. Part PSA and part sneering at the P.C. brigade, this introductory bit of ballyhoo proudly ticks off the potentially traumatizing elements you’re about to witness, including (but not limited to): bullying, classism, toxic masculinity, transphobia, guns, nationalism, racism, murder, the Male Gaze, rape (attempted), swearing,...

In the films of India, the soundtrack, both words and music, play an integral part that takes you inside the world, the story and the characters. Sometimes the song takes the story forward, sometimes it sets the mood or feeling of a scene, sometimes it gets the dance on, sometimes it hypes up the action, sometimes it gives all the feels and sometimes it is the essence of the love story. That is the case for the newest song ‘Pal’ from Jalebi. Composed by Javed-Mohsin, the lyrics for the track were written by the great Prashant Ingole. Known for his brilliant lyrics that fit every mode, genre and mood of the song they inhabit, you have heard his wonderful lines in songs like Race 2’s ‘Party On My Mind’, ‘Ziddi Dil’ and ‘Adhure’ from Mary Kom, and the epic tracks from Bajirao Mastani: ‘Malhari’, ‘Fitoori’, and ‘Gajanana’.

The first time we lay eyes on Burt Reynolds’ truck-driving legend Bo “Bandit” Darville in 1977’s Smokey and the Bandit, he’s sprawled out in a zebra-striped hammock, lazily napping when he should be hustling to make a buck by posing for pictures for a discounted 75 cents.
“Looks like a legend and an out-of-work bum look a lot alike, Daddy,” quips Paul Williams’ Little Enos Burdette to his father, Big Enos Burdette, who’s dressed in the same outlandish suit, ascot and cowboy hat as his diminutive offspring. Reynolds, owning the moment,...

Comedian Louis C.K. has faced an avalanche of criticism on Twitter since dropping in at New York’s famed Comedy Cellar on Sunday night for a surprise 15-minute set.
The outrage over the comedian re-taking the stage after nine months of seclusion included scathing comments from industry figures like Kathy Griffin, who knows a bit about controversy and comedy. Critics of C.K.’s return — who, naturally, soon spiraled into sparring matches with opponents defending the comedian’s right to seek redemption — argue it’s way too soon for a comeback, if such a thing can even be possible. (See a selection of tweets below.)
Inside the club, Louis C.K. reportedly got a standing ovation. But the online storm reveals the degree to which Hollywood is still wrestling with the concept of coming back almost a year after the #MeToo movement began.
Not many A-list names waded into the Twitter fray.

Louis C.K. performed an unannounced, 15-minute set at the Comedy Cellar in New York on Sunday night, marking his stage return after admitting last year to sexual misconduct against multiple women. C.K. appeared around 11 p.m. Et, with the crowd of roughly 115 offering an immediate ovation, club owner Noam Dworman told The New York Times.

After being out of the spotlight for nearly 10 months, Louis C.K. returned to the stand-up stage in New York. This marks his first public appearance and performance since he was accused of sexual misconduct in November.
According to the New York Times, C.K. surprised audiences at the Comedy Cellar in New York City, a spot he frequented pre-#MeToo accusations. The audience welcomed the disgraced comedian as he took the stage at 11 Pm for a 15-minute set, but he did not address or mention the allegations.
In November of last year, five women came forward in the pages of The New York Times about how the comedian masturbated in front of them. C.K. next issued a statement in response to the sexual misconduct saying it was true “And I have to reconcile it with who I am. Which is nothing compared to the task I left them with.

If actress Chloe Grace Moretz had it her way, the cross-generational romance she starred in with Louis C.K. would “just kind of go away.”
“I Love You, Daddy,” which was written, directed by and stars C.K. premiered at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival just before a #MeToo scandal involving the actor broke — to say nothing of the film’s content, which saw C.K.’s onscreen 17-year-old daughter (Moretz) have an affair with a famous director in his 60s.
“I don’t think it’s time for them to have a voice right now,” Moretz told the New York Times when asked about the project. “Of course, it’s devastating to put time into a project and have it disappear. But at the same time, this movement is so powerful and so progressive that I’m just happy to be in communication with everyone and to see...

They say old habits die hard, but they die even harder in Litchfield Maximum Security Prison. During season six of Orange Is the New Black, fans are introduced to yet another charming leading lady of lock-up, and she goes by the name of Daddy - well, Dominga Duarte - played by actress and The Voice competitor Vicci Martinez. During episode six, "State of the Uterus," we learn more about Daddy's background and what lands her behind bars in the first place. Surprisingly enough, she's *kind of* doing the same thing in Litchfield that she was doing before prison, and let us be clear: it is still very illegal.
Daddy's smooth yet felonious former ways of life are revealed during one of the many season six flashbacks, and well, there's no better way to put this . . . she was a pimp. She may have said, "Nobody f*cks with Daddy. And...

Season six of Orange Is the New Black brings new relationships, new flashbacks, and a whole lot of new drama, but one new character in particular steals the hearts of viewers and a few inmates, and that's Dominga Duarte aka Daddy. Daddy may be a drug-smuggling, problem-causing character, but she always looks out for her team, who she calls "Daddy's girls." Upon binge-watching the new season of the show and climbing out of a serious internet hole we're not ashamed of, we discovered that Daddy - actress and singer Vicci Martinez - appeared on season one of NBC's The Voice, where she came in third place.
Martinez was on Team CeeLo, and we are seriously blown away by her incredible voice. She's a powerhouse leader with a huge heart while playing Daddy, but the multifaceted artist is so much more, surprising all of us that Oitnb is her first major acting role.

Not sure where you've seen Orange Is the New Black's newest cast member? It's probably not her acting chops in a prison jumpsuit that caught your memory but likely her voice. Vicci Martinez, who plays the role of Daddy this season, is actually an established singer-songwriter with 10 albums, two EPs, and four chart-hitting singles under her belt. As a singer, songwriter, and now actress, she's quite the triple threat.
Martinez has appeared on all the singing shows: American Idol, Star Search, and even The Voice. She worked with mentor CeeLo Green on the latter back in 2011, placing third and landing a deal with Universal Republic.

Daddy is Martinez's first major acting role in a TV series. In fact, her only other acting role is a small unnamed part in the 2008 comedy flick Limbo. It'll be interesting to see how she fits...

It was hard to know how “Orange is the New Black” would — or could — come back after its fifth season, which was as ambitious as it was ultimately disastrous. The show became as scattered and chaotic as the inmate protest-turned-riot it was trying to depict, sending every character spinning seemingly for the sake of it. By season’s end, two guards had died and the inmates were rounded up and shipped off to different prisons.
It’s understandable why, after four similarly structured seasons, the show was tempted to slow the story down to follow just a few extraordinary days in the characters’ lives. But in the end, the result was too thrilled with its own daring to make much sense. So the question was how Season 6 could recover without ditching its ongoing storylines and starting over with a whole new cast.

As the fourth highest-grossing movie of all time, it doesn’t seem like too much of an exaggeration to say that everyone has seen Avengers: Infinity War. It also seems reasonably safe to assume that everyone has got an opinion on that ending. Whether it’s down to who should have floated away on the breeze instead or who should have kicked Thanos’ purpley-pink ass, it’s divisive, emotive…and now the subject of a new How It Should Have Ended video.

These range from Nebula stepping up and getting revenge on dear old Daddy, to Tony Stark and Pepper Potts adopting a lil’ baby Thanos after one of Strange’s spells turns the Titan into a toddler.

A friend who likes to share war stories from the writers’ room had this news to impart this week: According to a network mandate, female characters must now be depicted as seizing the initiative wherever possible; passivity is passe. While most writers support this point of view in theory, he pointed out, its implementation in storytelling terms has triggered tensions.
This is perhaps inevitable in a #MeToo and #TimesUp environment. A top cable executive tells me that more writers rooms these days are divided into all men or all women in an effort to encourage equanimity. “There is a tension that did not exist in the past,” he comments, a problem exacerbated by a heightened male paranoia. Its cause: The stepped-up efforts to achieve diversity have fueled a degree of male paranoia among those who feel that women are now sometimes favored for jobs — jobs that once automatically went to men.
