Trust me, I can handle vulgarity. I'm a huge fan of stand-up comedy and also a fan of the likes of Louis CK and Amy Schumer. But folks, this comedy special of Christina Pazsitsky is completely gross and unfunny.
Comedy is funny when it is smart and insightful. This special is just horrible. Pazsitsky relies on topping each "joke" about an orifice, with another take on a different orifice that is even viler.
Joan Rivers had plenty of vulgarity in her routines, but it was smart. Louis CK and Amy Schumer are the same, smart. (Although their 2017 specials were about as gross as Pazitsky's). But if you look at the body of CK or Schumer's work, they are very smart and offer clever observations.
Pazsitsky, however, is completely unfunny in this special; merely describing body fluids, body function, and sexual mechanics is trite, sophomoric, and annoying.
Her interactions with the audience during the show were cringe-worthy and embarrassing to watch.
It's like she had no clever observations to transform into comedy so she went for the big laugh by talking existentially about the body and sex, as if the just uttering a vulgar sentence is automatically supposed to be a laugh riot. Nothing in this is funny. I was deeply put off by her daft insulting of the audience's intelligence.
She's an appealing person with decent comic delivery, but the "comedy" out of her mouth was nothing more than futilely trying to max out the shock meter. But that "shock" had no effect other than to make me want to immediately cleanse my palette with some good old-fashioned Chris Rock, Sarah Silverman, or Chelsea Handler.
I hope this special gets buried and never surfaces again.
