So I just finished Suicide: Hell to Pay. It amazes me that a cartoon did a better job at Suicide Squad than the movie. Warner Bros. animation needs to give their film department some tips.

On the negatives, some of the dialogue was corny. But that's a small nitpick in an otherwise great animated film. The voice acting was pretty spot on. I cant wait for the next DC animated film.

Normally animated superhero movies is not my first choice of entertainment, but when given the chance and opportunity to watch one, I will do so, of course. And here in 2020 I was given the chance to sit down and watch the 2018 animated DC movie "Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay".

Well, I can start by saying that I wasn't really expecting much, given the dubious 2016 live action movie. But hey, I hadn't seen "Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay", so I watched it. And it turns out, oddly enough, that this animated movie far outdid the live movie. Who knew...

The storyline in "Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay" was straight forward, so you shouldn't expect a Shakespearian masterpiece in terms of storyline, script and writing. However, what does work here is the fact that this animated movie is for a mature audience. There is a heap of graphic violence in the story, which really surprised me. As well as deaths of not only goons and those opposing the Suicide Squad, but also members of the Suicide Squad themselves. That was definitely something that I enjoyed.

And they had put together a good group of voice talents for the various characters in the animated movie. That really helps an animated movie along quite a long way. So that was a good thing.

As for the style of the drawing and the art, then I liked that. It had a hint of that classic 1980s cartoon style to it that I grew up with and loved then and still do. But still, it has just enough updated contents to make it appear not fully retro. That worked well for the animated movie in my opinion.

I enjoyed "Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay", and I am rating it a seven out of ten stars. This is definitely one of the better animated superhero movies that I have had the fortune of sitting through. It is well-worth the time, just forget that you ever saw that 2016 movie.

Lately DC animated movies haven't been as good or as fun as they used to be. the last really good DC animated movie I remember watching was Gods and Monsters. that is until this movie. the strongest aspect of this movie is it's plot. it starts with a bomb action and from there on it's a thrilling experience throughout. I was taken from the very first minutes and this movie never lost my interest. the pacing is brilliant, spending just the right amount of time to establish back story and characters motivation. nothing more nothing less I see that DC keeps experimenting with it's art style, which is a welcome practice. and I hope that in the future they will refine it even further because stories this good deserve that. another little problem I had with it was it's sense of humor. they could have used better writing in that department. because mostly when it was trying to be funny, it just came off as cringy. and, in my opinion, harley quinn still remain under used. I feel DC never fully utilizes harley's fighting capabilities, instead opting to make her a purely comic relief character. and so it is hard to buy that she would actually be chosen as part of the suicide squad but all in all this is a great movie and a must watch for any and all DC fans

Loved the over arching story and some of the individual motivations, but some of the scenes and dialogue were very generic.

I'm one of those weird people who really enjoyed Suicide Squad (2016) I also thought Assault On Arkham (2014) was great. In fact I like the Suicide Squad concept in general so upon hearing about Hell to Pay I was quite excited.

This time our team includes Deadshot, Harley, Boomerang, Copperhead, Killer Frost & Bronze Tiger in an interesting little three way battle against Zoom, Blockbuster & Banshee and third team of Vandal Savage, Scandal Savage and their goons.

The whole thing is over a mysterious card that saves a person from hell and their motivations are quite interesting. Then we have the usual brand of DC action and the film is a passable effort, but just that......passable.

Hell To Pay doesn't meet its potential and I'm not 100% on why that is. Maybe it needed more time, perhaps the story needed fleshing out more? Regardless it didn't grip me like Assault on Arkham did.

I'd say this is a good watch for big fans, a passable one for casual ones but maybe a hard pass for everyone else.

However had I not watched most of Arrowverse prior to watching this I wouldn't have know most of these characters and this movie doesn't give enough back story for these characters to feel relatable. I mean we know most of it, but still. For me, I need that to get attached to the characters and root for them. Out of all of the movies written and directed in this style following these stories with Batman, justice league, teen Titans, etc, this is probably my least favorite. But it isn't that bad! I'm not saying that at all! Still worth the watch. Maybe not for kids under 13 though!

I started watching expecting to fall asleep midway. Instead I stayed awake way past my bedtime because the story was so interesting. It's best if you watched Flashpoint Paradox first (which is another excellent movie by the way), but it's not really required. a bit gory, but it's refreshing to see a movie where it's not afraid to kill important characters. Why is DC animated movies so good, yet the live action movies so bad I wonder.

Amanda Waller directs Task Force X to retrieve stolen intelligence from Tobias Whale. Count Vertigo and Jewelee tries to steal it for themselves. Deadshot and Waller kill them instead. Some time later, Waller needs a powerful magical card. She recruits imprisoned criminals, Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Killer Frost, Copperhead, and Bronze Tiger with Deadshot to retrieve it.

The live-action Suicide Squad movies are silly and comedic and rather wacky. This animated movie is darker and maybe even more violent. It's definitely less silly. It doesn't shy away from the violence and the blood. It's good and different from the big theatrical movies.

Ultra violent, good voice acting, nice story. If only the sequel to the live-action movie will do as well.

I loved the animation style, character designs, costumes and the overall brilliance of Sam Liu's direction.

I've said it before and I will say it again, DC needs to use their animation department writers for the live action movies.

I was quite surprised as I had not payed attention to the rating and missed the R. The movie was quite violent and graphic for a DC movie, and the comedy is well placed to lighten the mood, but it was refreshing to see anime style violence in an animated "superhero" movie. It was also very interesting that the entire story revolved around a chance of true salvation, and served as a continuation of a previous DC film.

Suicide Squad lives up to the name, and though I am not one of the haters of the live action film, I feel this one was much better and leaves me wondering what could have been with the live action movie.

It's got the plot from a bad Ninja Turtles episode with Captain Planet quality dialog and Samurai Pizza Cats animation. Top all that with a plain Jane version of Harley quin and Nicolas Cage in National Treasure level acting. The worst of all worlds. A five year old with brain damage might like it.

Yeah, I'm not going to lie to you, I was excited to watch another Suicide Squad movie after the powerhouse Batman: Assault on Arkham. The story of Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay is surprisingly thoughtful at its core with the matter of deserving to go to heaven when especially when you've spent your entire life doing things to surely make you end up in hell showing up when the squad and their enemies all go after this magical card to get out of hell free.

But I juist felt like the performances done by the actors lacked energy and that this great story element of going to heaven and redeem yourself wasn't explored enough.

The animation was pretty uninspired and generic in every way, but I'll give it that in this story where death is a central theme, you will have to prepare yourself for the departure of any character which is kind of a bold move. And the violence is not hidden and is more graphic and detailed here than in many other of these animated DC movies.

All in all, SQ: Hell to Pay is kind of dull without the upbeat nature found in earlier renditions, but is surprisingly thoughtful and takes risks we don't see every day in this kind of movie.

Suicide Squad: Hell To Pay is an R-Rated animated movie that basically does better than the live-action film from 2016, which despite making a big return at the box office, was heavily panned by critics. The story is good, the characters are accurate to the comic, and there is blood. Lots of blood. If you are looking for something to wash the bad taste of the 2016 film out, this is it.

Well, they are not exactly heroes... And that part of their character seemed lacking in the story. Otherwise a good plot with the usual good guys, bad guys and both wanting to outwin each other. It's a fun watch.

I'm not sure why they feel the need to punch these up to R-ratings. This would have been OK for kids but the first few sentences were a GD and a "s-word" and then lots of blood and gore. That's fine I guess, but seems like a silly trend, all the fan boys of today started out as 10 year old kids with comics. So, I enjoyed this one. Good plot, moved along, not afraid to kill off characters. The overall motivation was a bit silly but it is a comic book. For a grown-up, this is a fun ride, lots of action and some comedy. I liked it.

Lately DC has not been doing well in live actions movies and it has even seeped through their animated movies. But this movie puts them back on the map! It encompasses everything a Suicide Squad movie should be. The story, animation, voice actors were all great. One bad point would be that some dialogues can be slightly cringey but it's just a small flaw.

I highly recommend this movie. It's not just a good DC film but a good animated film for both comic and non-comic book reading fans.

The best way I can describe this movie without major spoilers is if you enjoy the blood and killing of a Quentin Tarantino film, then you'll likely enjoy this film. I saw this because it really feels like its trying to answer the question of what he would do if he could make a film based on a DC Comics property.

This movie filled with death (an and a small bit of... strange nudity) and much of it is rather stylized. And this is well in excess of normal Suicide Squad head explosions. This is on par with Kill Bill, Reservoir Dogs or Pulp Fiction but with Harley Quinn and Deadshot around.

Its also a solid mcguffin tale. Everything about this story is, "Get that one thing!" Which may not be too bad if you enjoy stories driven by character motivations over possessing a specific object.

Personally, I felt a lot of it was going for "edgy" and "shocking" rather than "compelling" or "engaging." Far too often the events of the story seemed to be about going to places DC isn't supposed to go and doing things comics don't do solely for the sake of doing it. This wouldn't be a bad thing if it had been built on something more substantial. As it is, this feels like more like a gory hard-R Expendables film than a Suicide Squad story.

The movie is fun, I guess the best way to describe it, is by saying that it's a fun "episodic" movie. Of course I have some issues, like the animation, but this is a problem every new of these "DC Animated Universe" films have, the animation style really bothers me, I keep asking myself if I'm de only one who thinks that, but anyways, this isn't something especific from this movie.

Besides that, the movie has some basic storyline structures, you wont be surprise by almost anything there, you kind of now where the movie is going, but it's ok, cause is entertaining.

Probably the only thing that really surprised me was the connection they've made with the Flashpoint movie. I thought it was cool. Anyway, Harley is funny, Deadshot is a badass, Captain Boomerang is funny too, Iiked what they did with the Tiger, mostly because the only past experience I had with the character was the Arrow adaption, and... you know, it was kind of awful. But he was great here, even though we didn't have that much of his background.

I thought the whole plot of the movie was intriging too, this "free pass" from hell card, it's funny to see how almost every character want it at every cost (even if the process kills them).

At the end, Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay is a good animation, isn't incredible or revolucionary, but if it shows up on the TV, and you see, you may have fun.

Definitely one of the bloodiest and most violent DC animated movies. We get an interesting story but the big personalities aren't so big this time around. They fixed what was missing from the first Suicide Squad movie, Batman: Assault on Arkham, but didn't quite keep what that first movie had going for it. It was fun watching three different teams of villains face off.
