All I could think of it when this song/clip came out was: The Verve is back and Mad Richard is still rocking as ever. It was one of the most addictive songs of that year,
the album "Forth" was pretty decent despite not reaching the level of "Urban Hymns" but it was a favorite of mine through all those years. The clip has some art in it,
though not as much as the visual metaphors of their old clips or even Ashcroft solo videos. Nonetheless, still valid and it's pure rock n'roll with a meaning.
"Love is Noise" presents Richard Ashcroft and band performing the song, intercut with apparently random images of a couple in slow motion having some tender moments;
a snowy mountain; a guy trying to smash a guitar; and sportists doing amazing choreographies. Richard, as usual, has this serious expressions that reflects the song when he
talks about that love is more than just tender and cute things: it's noise, it's pain, it's a blues that he's singing again. It's a challenge, it comes with obstacles, it
comes with such an overwhelming mixture of feelings, reactions and sensations that one must ask himself: will I be ready for such a thing? It's about daring ourselves and
make us question about everything. We're not talking throwing love to all the strangers, we're talking about real love. Richard reaches that level of poetry and despite the
randomness of the video, it all seems perfect. Never gets old. Visually striking and a sound that it's too hard to describe. It's catchy, great beat and magnific lyrics. That's
the best I can present it to you. One of their finest videos. 10/10
