This film couldve been based on many real life stories upon the vast continent of america.
its a farma-drama story, about an orchard farm in the northwestern part of the great state of california, and its as usual the fight for survival, at the mercy of the banks, the threats of conglomeration, and the pressure from property developers who wish to build houses in some of the finest rural areas in the world.. its a young girl against everyone, stubborn and bound to a promise she gave to her grandfather, that she will stand tall and make this orchardry survive for generations.
the production and acting are merely flawless, dramaslow it is, but it surtainly tucks you into the sad emotions that reign this territory. its a film made on a bargain sale give or take a few dollars out of nothing , then youll know its good old craftmanship filmaking.
the sad story isnt for everybody to like, but it should and will find it crowds i'm sure. and that is said in the name of the grumpy old man, a recommend

Story about teenage girl going against odds to save family farm while everyone else tells her to sell. Good film production but lacklustre cinematography. Soundtrack is non-existent except for transitions. However, a complete story arc is there. Act two is a little slow at the start. The ending is good but too quiet.

Could not give this less than one star, so here goes; I am not a sentimentalist when it comes to movies but I would like to see an ending making my time worth while. Kept hoping for some redemption but as the movie progressed nothing made it more worth the time. At the end I think if she could have backed the car up and run over Ryan at least someone could have gotten his just dues.
Take it from me, an appointment with a dentist for a root canal without anesthetic would have been more enjoyable!

So an old white man work his ass off and had a profiting orchard that in his later years became not profitable due to changes in the poor quality of life of California
Tried to make it about a strong woman which could have really turned into a good story
Especially if she was successful even though she was also White
By the way I'm being smart it wouldn't have mattered the color of her skin but based on some of the other reviews on here it's just a joke what kind of movie this turned out to be and what it could have been
Really could have been a great story about a strong woman saving a beautiful profitable orchard and pass it on to the family if they're willing to work for it and by the way no matter the color of skin but someone with great character and good work ethic.

This is a slow winding film that has humorous moments wrapped up in an inevitable life changing drama. Highlights are the lead character's unrelenting determination even when the odds are stacked against her. Definitely a heroine drama, need more films that draw on the themes presented in this film. Bravo! And it's beautifully filmed on a pear farm, such a lovely cinematic journey.
If you live almost anywhere in the U. S there is a cultural divide between urban and rural life, and this film reveals the economic drivers that underscore this tension, but mostly the film treats the cultural/social issues sensitively and honestly. No cliches here and that is so refreshing.

Andy is a 16-yr-old girl living and working with her grandfather on his fruit farm in California, an area in the northern part of the wine country. Her mother is no longer alive, she has an aunt who is a chef in San Francisco. Andy is very handy, a very serious and hard worker that also is able to repair most things that break on the farm. But grandpa has a secret, the farm is broke, it may be on the verge of forced sale.
One evening Andy is cooking dinner and gramps doesn't respond when she calls him. She finds him passed away in his chair. This brings a new hurdle, the land is willed to Andy but being under legal age must become a ward of her aunt. That doesn't go easy as Andy had long ago built up a disrespect for her aunt who she thinks deserted the family and the farm.
The story is mainly about Andy figuring out where she wants to go with her life, and part of that is struggling with her sexual identity. It isn't addressed directly but when a boy, a long-time friend, kisses her later she tells a friend that it didn't feel like anything. My own interpretation is that she was not into boys.
My wife and I watched it at home, streaming on Amazon Prime. It is not a long movie, right about 80 minutes and all the cast are second-tier actors. It has the feel of a made-for-TV movie. While we enjoyed the drama and Andy's working through her struggles we both observed that it ended with no resolution. Except maybe farming is not a good future for a young girl and it took the events to teach that to her. A coming of age.
