Novels from Miranda July and Taylor Jenkins Reid Should Be Adapted Next, According to The Black List
Image
While The Black List has long been the go-to platform to discover indie scripts and hot new voices, the acclaimed organization is now launching an inaugural Adaptation List to spotlight the novels that industry insiders most want to see adapted for the screen.

These days, novel adaptations have been heating up Hollywood, thanks in no small part to the rise of BookTok. Beloved BookTok authors like Emily Henry and Colleen Hoover have already been slated to have their respective books brought to film and TV, while Taylor Jenkins Reid has been building a franchise of interconnected stories, including “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo,” “Malibu Rising,” and “Daisy Jones and the Six.”

The Black List founder Franklin Leonard and Creative Director of Fiction Randy Winston surveyed 84 publishing industry editors and literary agents, who selected the 61 novels that they believe are poised for adaptations. All novels had to be published after 2005, when The Black List launched.

Luci Announces Debut Album, Shares Origins of “Martyr”: Exclusive
Image
Origins is a recurring series giving artists a space to break down everything that went into their latest release. Today, Luci breaks down “Martyr,” taken from her upcoming debut album, They Say They Love You.

Luci has announced her debut album, They Say They Love You, which is set to drop on February 2nd, 2024, via Don’t Sleep Records. To preview the project, the rapper has released the danceable, hard-hitting single, “Martyr.”

They Say They Love You follows the North Carolina native’s debut EP, Juvenilia, which landed on our list of the top 15 hip-hop albums of 2022. The new batch of songs follows through on the multi-faceted, impassioned approach that made the EP so impressive, this time deriving from deeply personal feelings of love, heartbreak, and anger, as well as inspiration from listening to Future, FKA Twiggs, Duah Saleh, J. Cole, and Drake. What’s more, one of the closest collaborators on the project,...

SAG-AFTRA Strike: Which Movies and TV Shows Are Still in Production
Image

SAG-AFTRA’s strike rules allow for work on productions covered under different agreements, and the union can grant waivers or sign interim agreements with independent productions. Below is a list of TV shows and films that fall under those designations; this story will be updated as more productions earn waivers.

Interim Agreements

SAG-AFTRA has reached interim agreements with numerous independent productions, including movies from A24 (Death of a Unicorn, starring Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega, and Mother Mary with Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel) — which is not part...
