I expected this to be a peverse account of the incidents covered and to be honest, that's exactly why I chose to start watching it. Instead, I feel like I've met the most amazing people who were directly involved. They all deserve a really big hug or a solid handshake or a genuine salute. Needless to say, their stories are horrific and gut-wrenching, but also heart-warming and inspirational. Not what I was expecting!
I put off viewing this thinking I knew enough already about the subject matter and would not learn anything new.
I was so wrong.
The episodes goes beyond the basics of the shootings by explaining how the first responders had to quickly adapt to unique situations plus also show what the families and the community also went thru.
There are also plenty of interviews from a number of people involved providing additional details not previously known.

Enforces the statement, ' better to carry a gun and not need it ,than not have one and need it,.

This series uses a combination of authentic video feeds, news media, official public safety media (audio, video), role-playing, and interviews with involved personnel (victims, families, public safety). It is gut-wrenching and some scenes are not suitable for young children.
As a member of Public Safety, I feel it is important to understand what happened in order to deal with possible future incidents.
One never knows when the next one will occur. Be alert, be aware.
The producers aren't afraid to tackle the tough calls. Sadly, there are enough of these events to keep this series going for a while. Remember, active shooter incidents are not a new to our society.

This is a very personal, in-depth dive into what happens during an Active Shooter situation. It forces you to think about what you would do in a similar situation.
Will there be a 2nd season? Unfortunately, there's enough material. I would love to see a what goes into making a documentary like this.

My cousin was gunned down and killed in August '18. This show makes you feel exactly the way our family feels as though you're there and mourning the victims. It's the realest I've ever seen a documentary portray what it's like to experience gun violence firsthand.

This is one of the best series I've seen in a while, and will continue to watch weekly. I honestly have not felt so much emotion and even my Marine best friend who's as tough as they come couldn't hold it back and had the tears flowing. I love the way it shows how people came together in such horrible situations and how it brings out the true American spirit when in crisis. We need more shows like this on TV. I believe there is a hero in all of us.
Who knows, maybe this series will make a mass murderer think before acting on racism, or radicalization, or mental illness. I sure hope so. Highly recommended.

Real witness accounts of some of the most horrific acts of gun violence our western world has seen in our life times. It is absolutely despicable and cowardly to see others perceive these first hand accounts to be self serving cherry picked malevolent and agenda driven. The only agenda displayed in this series is that of truth and the heart ache first responders and victims experienced in these acts of violence. The real terrorists are those who abide and allow these acts of gun violence to continue. Those who watch this show, and submit reviews of spite, have you no shame, that it is your will alone that allows these mass murders to continue in this modern day and age.

Mass shootings are no longer a surprising occurrence to Americans. In fact, we've essentially let them become a part of what to expect in American culture. We have become so desensitized that these events are barely able to register as significant to us unless they break records in terms of casualties.
This show allows viewers to gain insight from the surving victims, witnesses, and law enforcement involved. It helps provide the essential empathy that we need to have for one another if we are to seriously address and alleviate the amount of senseless violence that we exact on one another.
The production quality is excellent. The content involves interviews along with actual footage (no dramatizations). There is no narration, although significant captions are periodically shown onscreen in between segments.

I watched the first episode and could not believe hw atrocious some people are. Iam an old guy, and I couold not help but cry for the victims and families that were forced to live this horror.
I applaud the survivors and victims for their courage and ability to speak about this. It is so hard to watch the senselessness and cowwardice of the perpetrators.
I applaud law enforcement for some of their finest hours, by placing themselves in danger to save others! A big thank you to all law enforcement, and civilians that step up and make this world a better place!

Emotional & anxiety ridden doc series on unnecessary hate, violence, and mental illness. There's still hope for humanity if this somehow prevents even one further incident.

Every episode brought me to tears. This is a very well constructed, perfectly planned and produced series. Living in Australia, I had heard of some of these horrific active shooter stories on the news, but some of them I had only heard fragments of the actual story. This was a real eye opener for me. Each episode delves into the police procedures and the issues they run into dealing with an active shooter situation. This show will break you, over and over again.
There have been countless other shootings across America since this series ended production. It's time to do something about gun laws...

Powerful. Jaw dropping. Heartbreaking. I binge watched the entire series; it's very well done. My heart was pounding. There were times I actually had to pause the show and process the witness' testimonies. It's hard to hear and hard to believe. All the first responders did an incredible job during these horrific and terrifying crisis situations.

the previous reviewer provides no citation for his questionable assertions. I would just comment as follows:
Firstly Cairn is not in Canada as he seems to think, but in Australia and secondly, the tragic murders he refers to were a terrible domestic incident by a disturbed mother involving suffocation and have no relevance in gun crime discussion.
The series under review provides a welcome entry in a very serious debate about the almost medieval level of violence in what is considered to be a civilized nation.
