The problems with anthologies is that one is as bad as it's worst short story. If your worst story is good enough, you're probably into a good anthology.
But this is not the case. I enjoyed the first one although I expected a lil more. The goo one I found it the most funny, even made me lol, which is weird in me, but I like horror comedy and silly gore when done right. The last story was entertaining at parts, at other's a lil cringey. The midle stories were avarage hit or miss.
So even if I give it a 4 for it's worse stories, I'd recommend it if you feel like watching a really silly horror movie, with some good and some bleh stories, with some meta commentary about horror and jokes about it but expect silly acting, lines, expressions and gratuitous gore (which isn't that bad).

At first I wasn't sure, but stuck with it and it was a laugh. Horror comedy with lots of 80s horror references. Worth a watch if you like cheesey.

Close to two hours of the most obvious, bottom barrel, elementary level jokes. Unbelievably stupid
This movie begins with an interesting premise: make people laugh. This, in a horror movie, is absolutely key especially when your budget is tight. The work of the writers and production is excellent to bring the game to each situation to offer unexpected, hilarious moments, and the necessary dose of blood to have a nice time. The rhythm slows down in the final part but it is still a good example of the cinema to be made. Recommended.
I knew going in that this movie would be bad, in fact I absolutely expected it. However, what I did not expect was that from the beginning I would be confused as if I had just walked into the middle of a different movie. Scratch that, five different movies!!
I was hoping for something cheesy but witty. Instead, I just lost 90+ minutes of my life I could have spent getting an enema (that would have been a better use of time).
A good range of funny gory stories with a fun and relatable wraparound to tie it all together. It drags a little in the middle but it does deliver in then, while employing and mocking so many horror tropes.
This movie is funny only, when they making references to the other horror flicks. Rest of the movie, (about 90 minutes) is talking about nothing or just showing lot of blood and guts. If director had no idea how story should end, he just added more blabbing or guts. No oryginal stories, no new ideas, nothing to remember. Nice added music resembling cult classics from the eighties. Screaming girls covered with blood and guys in mask. That's it, end of the ideas for a parody of slasher movies.
Sorry for mistakes, my English is rusty.

Honestly For anthology it's pretty good. It's got a great 80s twist to everything and pokes a lot of fun jokes.
If you're into campy 80s horror and making fun at those movies... I think this will be a great fit for you. Oh It's also got a fun Cabin in the woods type of mix to it at the end if you know what I mean.

If youre a horror nerd, its a must see. if you like people mockin away on the horror genre then have a look, if youre not a horror lover then watch it. its easy, its laughter, and its good. a thumb up from the grumpy old man.
I really appreciated the way this film worked hard to turn its B-movie budget into a strength. When you're making a horror comedy and you can't afford theatrical-release-worthy effects (or actors), what do you do? You embrace the cheese! This movie is very self-aware, making no attempt to be anything other than it is: a crazy clever hodge podge of at least a dozen classic and more traditional horror films...a movie about movies in which they watch several movies before ultimately becoming part of a "movie"! (You read that correctly; quite meta. You'll have to watch to get it lol.)
Bottom line; if you have an open mind and you're not an outright film snob, give it a watch. You just might be pleasantly surprised, as I was!

As a lifelong opposer of anthology films, I thought I would give this one an open-minded chance considering it's on Shudder and I'm using the streaming service to broaden my horror-watching experience.
This started off decently. It was funny, clever, light-hearted and some of the short films were actually pretty good.
But it got to a point where it started to drag. On. And on. And on. And on.
Literally, the movie was so long that by the time I watched the end credits and I saw a recap of all the short films featured, I had forgotten about the decent ones at the beginning of the film. It literally went on for that long.
I won't be watching this, or any other anthologies, for that matter, anytime soon.

It's not even a movie, it's a collection of garbage strung together to make a movie length film. I fell asleep watching it. It's got the worst production values with fake gore and nonsense throughout.
Sorry but this film was pretty funny as long as you take it tongue in cheek and accept it is a light humoured dig at horror movies, a bit like the parody of the scream movies.Genuinly funny at the over the top deaths and gore and also the familiarity of'THE OFFICE' segments at the video shop.Yes it had continuity flaws but seriousy not that bad.Not sure why other reviews are slating the actors as ive seen much much worse and i could not find any significant problems with all involved.Possibly the editors should have deleted the first 5 to 10 minutes as this was detrimental to the entire movie and possibly why most people turn off after a short period.'THIS MOVIE GETS BETTER AND BETTER AND PISS TAKING' the further you get through.Fantastic ending and if you have a funny bone and do not mind a bit of japing this is for you.Im English so a few character references were lost on me but all in all quite funny.Hope this helps.LOL

I think In order for a movie about horror to work it still has to remain a horror. I'm not sure this would have worked even if the script and acting had been passable, but it's an embarrassing watch from start to finish. I also saw no direction, supposedly from 7 directors. I'm not sure why I'm complaining, I have yet to see a horror anthology that wasn't horrible.

Horror anthology: Check.
Loving homage to horror classics: Check.
B-movie horror-comedy: Check.
Buckets of gore: Check.
-----MILD SPOILER-------
Extra Credit--Joe Bob Briggs cameo: Check.
Extra Extra Credit--You loved "Toxic Avenger:" Check.
If you pass that check-list and are intrigued, you may enjoy "Scare Package." Unfortunately, that formula, even with an iconic horror classic trope/theme to focus on each segment, gets tedious over seven segments.
There is a lot to love, and if you've imbibed a bit, then your enjoyment will likely be greater.
And that Joe Bob Briggs Cameo! (I was given the original Joe Bob's Drive In book as a gift back in 1985). The guy rocks and was my favorite part of the movie.
My quibbles: * Having the first short before the wrap-around story intro was innovative but confusing. * The over-the-top gore get's repetitive. * It's too long.
Drive-in Academy Award for the special effects team who must have been very very busy!

The dialogue is exhaustingly stupid and just not funny. Most of the segments are really poorly written and overall this movie is a bit of a mess. I gave it two stars, instead of one, because some of the practical effects are well-done. I made it through to the first hour before bailing out...kept hoping it would get better and it never did.

This can go two ways. You take it seriously and then you are in trouble because you normally wont like it. The story is out there not to be taken for real.
The other way is of course that you watch it just as it is, and then you are in for a really nice ride. This is made just for the gore and there's a lot in it. And if you just watch it for that then the weak story doesn't bother you. Maybe you will find it funny after all because it's all about short movies in fact as being told by a VHS rental shop owner.
I loved the extreme gore used just for the gore, the story wasn't my thing. To be honest, it sometimes was just on the edge of boredom.
Gore 5/5 Nudity 0/5 Effects 5/5 Story 1/5 Comedy 0/5

I really struggled to get through this. An anthology of horror tales that parodies sub-genre is nothing new and this doesn't try to do anything new.

Although I love horror I don't really like anthologies so I had pretty low expectations, but I ended up really enjoying the movie. Most stories were fun and interesting and they managed to get the tone exactly right, which is very difficult. And the gore was lovely :)

It's not a usual horror anthology. In fact, it is far more humor than horror. However, what is extremely surprising is how creative it, from the cold open to the end you will never see it coming. The jokes are hilarious and overall just a very feel good film.

I have no idea or clue who these people are that gave this rave reviews on the back cover. That should have been my first clue. Ignoramus doesn't even began to tell the picture, what little there is of it. And thank God for that because I couldn't stand much more of it.

Aside from the 3 stinker films, this was fun! It seems that most of the directors/writers had fun in mind during the process. While the others don't know what fun is. Perhaps they were homeschooled. You wouldn't not go to a party because a few of the people there were homeschooled? They're learning! With a budget!
The good films are totally worth sticking around for. Unless you hate fun.
