Chicago Fire is the longest-running series in the One Chicago franchise. It has been able to balance the melodrama of Chicago Med and the grittiness of Chicago Pd and produce episode after episode of entertaining, firehouse-based shenanigans.

Of course, not every episode is made equal. Some of them nail this balance, and are able to produce an hour of television that gives ample screen time to each of its characters. Others try, but simply fail to hit the mark by virtue of a boring subplot or a misplaced character motivation.

Chicago Fire is always going to be the most iconic One Chicago series. It's the one that started it all, and it continues to be the anchor piece between Chicago Med and Chicago Pd in NBC's Wednesday night lineup. That doesn't mean the series is without its low points, though.

Horror legend Mike Flanagan has just picked his latest project, and it's a very exciting one. The acclaimed filmmaker has just wrapped The Life of Chuck, an adaptation of Stephen King's short story of the same name. He's working on a new Carrie television series and a reboot of The Exorcist, but in addition to all of that, Variety has reported that he will next write a script for DC's upcoming Clayface film.

The movie was announced on the heels of HBO's critically successful series The Penguin, set in the same universe as Matt Reeves' Batman played by Robert Pattinson.

Chicago Fire is no stranger to complicated dynamics. The show thrives on its ability to bring different characters together and taking them in unpredictable but ultimately satisfying directions. The bond between Sam Carver (Jake Lockett) and Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) is undoubtedly one of the most unique the show has come up with in recent years, though.

There are any number of reasons for that but as DC Studios and James Gunn continue fleshing out the new Dcu, a handful are of those definitely worth revisiting.

Look, we get it. Chicago Fire is a show predicated on melodrama, and romantic complications. This storytelling device has resulted in some of the most memorable moments in the show's history. It's also not working with Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) and his estranged wife, Monica (KaDee Strickland).

These are still new to Chicago Fire, with both having made their debuts in season 13, but every time they are onscreen together, the gloves come off and they erupt into an argument. A host of new names have been added to the cast of dark comedy The Gallerist, joining the already-announced Natalie Portman and Jenna Ortega.

Details regarding filmmaker Cathy Yan’s The Gallerist are being kept mostly under wraps, but here’s what we do know so far: the dark comedy is set to enter production next month in France and has been written by the Birds Of Prey director alongside James Pederson. Yan will direct with the story said to ‘focus on a desperate gallerist who conspires to sell a dead guy at Art Basel Miami’ – the latter being an upscale art show where tickets are around $85 per person (though kids get in for $10).

The project has already cast Natalie Portman and Jenna Ortega. Thanks to World Of Reel, we’ve picked now up details regarding the supporting cast for The Gallerist – and it’s quite an ensemble.

Netflix has debuted the trailer for their latest animated effort, “Jentry Chau vs. The Underworld,” a supernatural action series starring Ali Wong (Birds of Prey, “Paper Girls”).

“Jentry Chau vs. The Underwold” premieres on Netflix on December 5, 2024.

Wong executive produces the 13-episode series, from first-time show-runner Echo Wu, alongside Aron Eli Coleite (“Locke & Key”).

The series follows “Jentry Chau (voiced by Wong), a Chinese-American teen living in a small Texas town, who finds out a demon king is hunting her for the supernatural powers she’s been working her whole life to repress. With the help of her weapons expert great-aunt and a millennia-old jiangshi (Chinese hopping vampire), Jentry must now fight an entire underworld’s worth of monsters while balancing the horrors of high school.”

It was difficult picking the five best comic books of the week. For example, Aliens Vs. Avengers No. 2 was phenomenal, adding to the Alien movie lore that fans loved, along with some tragic moments and well-known Marvel Comics characters. There was also Kelly Thompson’s Birds of Prey which continues to be a must-read series. Nevertheless, I had to break it down to the top five.

Cassandra Cain is hands-down my favorite Batgirl, so when I heard she was getting a new solo series, I was beyond thrilledthough Ill admit, a bit apprehensive, as I'm incredibly picky about how she's portrayed. But I'm thrilled to say that this series has already delivered one of the strongest takes on her character yet, thanks to the creative teams brilliant revival of Casss signature 'superpower.'

Some fans might be scratching their heads at my mention of an iconic Batgirl 'superpower' making a comeback in Takeshi Miyazawa, Mike Spicer, and Tom Napolitano's Batgirl #1 by Tate Brombal, considering that Cass is a non-meta. When I say "superpower," Im using it loosely to refer to her iconic ability to read peoples body language with unmatched skill.

Viewers were left wondering about the fate of Sam Carver, played by Jake Lockett, after Episode 6 of Season 13, “Birds of Prey.”

During the episode, Lieutenant Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) dismissed Carver from his shift with Firehouse 51 after he slept through a call siren and forgot to change out his tank after the last call, resulting in him getting into a fight with Darren Ritter (Daniel Kyri) that Kidd overheard.
