‘Tis the season to watch holiday-themed horror, so we here at Arrow in the Head have decided to compile a list of the Best Christmas Horror Movies! All of the films below are, at the very least, set around Christmastime, and some of them take the connection to the holidays further than that. Here are the top 12 horror movies that we recommend checking out over the next week:
I Come In Peace (1990)
It’s easy to forget that I Come in Peace (a.k.a. Dark Angel) is set around the Christmas holiday, because Christmas is mostly just represented by some set decorations – and you’re distracted from those decorations by all the awesome stuff going on around them. Dolph Lundgren stars as Jack Caine, a Houston detective who doesn’t play by the rules. He’s stuck working with stuffy, suit-wearing FBI agent Larry Smith (Brian Benben), and these...

This episode of the Horror TV Shows We Miss video series was Written and Narrated by Niki Minter, Edited by Lance Vlcek, Produced by John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
Horror for Christmas? Yes, I’m here to holly your jolly, deck your halls, and sacrifice your children to Krampus. What a merry holiday season indeed! Since our October vid focused on Halloween Specials, I figured the Spooky Christmas crossovers deserved some attention as well.
As a kid, my family did have Christmas watching traditions like most. We did Scrooged, A Christmas Story, Frosty, Charlie Brown, Garfield, Home Alone, Gremlins (Ahhhh it’s controversial), Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands…and my mom may have snuck in Black Christmas. She was and is a fan of Holiday-based Horror. Her favorite being My Bloody Valentine. All of this is totally normal. So, as you can probably guess, the tradition has continued.

Ah, Christmas. It’s a time of family get-togethers, going into debt, and TV and movie studios trying their best to cater to everyone. Unless you’re on the Hallmark Channel, and it’s pretty obvious you’ve got one specific demo you are targeting with extreme prejudice.
Over the years, many Christmas-themed movies and TV specials have danced across screens, both big and small. Some of them are classics like A Muppet Christmas Carol, or It’s a Wonderful Life. Others go out of their way to try and be extreme in their counter-programming, like Silent Night, Deadly Night (which has somehow made six total films over the years…good lord).
And then others are just so odd and unexpected that they deserve their own list, and that’s what we’re doing today. I’m not sure this list should be counted as Nice or Naughty; we’ll say...

On the first day of Creepmas, my true love gave to me…12 Killer Santa horror movies to herald in Bloody Disgusting’s 12 Days of Creepmas. This year, we’re reinterpreting the “Twelve Days of Christmas” to bring twelve days of holiday horror. ‘Tis the season to be naughty, after all.
It feels only right to kick things off with a look at one of holiday horror’s most prominent icons: the Killer Santa Claus. The niche subgenre of Killer Santa holiday horror movies is as robust as ever, offering ample murderous maniacs to spread holiday fear this season. Here are 12 of the most prominent and bloodthirsty of the bunch.
If your favorites are missing, don’t worry; there’s still plenty of holiday horror fun on the way.
Violent Night
Violent Night introduces Santa Claus (David Harbour) as a cynic drowning his frustrations in booze at a bar on Christmas Eve.

Christmas, as Hans Gruber once proclaimed, is a time for miracles. Marvel could certainly use some of that magic given the year it has had. Animated multiverse series What If…? is back later this month and a new festive-themed teaser is here to remind us of that fact. Take a look:
Narrated once more by The Watcher (Jeffrey Wright) and featuring a variety of MCU movie and TV stars reprising their roles for some intriguing looking new twists on established Marvel continuity.
So if you were wondering what pleasures the new season might have to deliver, you'll have more of a clue.
And given the 22 December launch (the nine episodes of the new season will roll out across nine consecutive days this festive season), this "12 Days Of Christmas"-flavoured teaser certainly has plenty of fun to offer.
If you're a fan of these stories, you'll no doubt be happy...

Eddie Murphy as ‘Chris Carver’ stars in Candy Cane Lane Photo: Claudette Barius © Amazon Content Services LLC
Candy Cane Lane is a light, pleasant little holiday treat, much like the candy its name suggests. The family comedy takes place on one of those streets nearly every town has, the one where neighbors out-do each other with the decorations, competing for the neighborhood honor of being named the annual winner. This story centers on one of those suburban families, headed by dad Chris Carver (Eddie Murphy). Chris Carver does indeed carve, in this case, handmade holiday decorations, which are overlooked for the prize every year. He is married to Carol (Tracee Ellis Ross), and they have three kids, Nicholas (Thaddeus J. Mixson), Joy (Genneya Walton), and Holly (Madison Thomas). Seeing a pattern here?
In case you missed, the film thoughtfully points that Christmas naming theme out for you in one scene.

“Christmas is not about money,” says Pepper (Jillian Bell), the passive-aggressive Christmas store elf in “Candy Cane Lane.” “Except that it is.” She could almost be describing Christmas movies. From the start, they’ve paired a celebration of the Christmas spirit, in all its enveloping toastiness, with a theme of raw economic desperation. You can trace this right back to the original Christmas movie — “A Christmas Carol,” and by that I don’t even mean the assorted film versions (though I grew up with them and especially loved the 1951 version with Alastair Sim) but the Charles Dickens novella, published in 1843, which essentially invented the modern Christmas.
It was a tale built around money, and the fear of poverty as embodied in Bob Cratchit. A century later, “It’s a Wonderful Life” was essentially a remake of “A Christmas Carol,” albeit it with a small-town American mensch at the center and Scrooge...

Candy Cane Lane is a fun-filled Christmas movie that takes place in El Segundo and draws inspiration from the local tradition. The movie cleverly incorporates the "12 Days of Christmas" carol, bringing its characters to life and adding to the festive atmosphere. The Carver family, led by Eddie Murphy's character, is determined to win the neighborhood decoration competition, but their quest leads to unexpected consequences and showcases the ups and downs of holiday traditions.

Candy Cane Lane explores the true meaning of Christmas through chaos and comedy, teaching Eddie Murphy's character valuable lessons. Chris Carver, played by Murphy, strives to win a $100,000 prize for the best-decorated home to salvage his final Christmas with his family. Chris and his family face challenges collecting the "Five Golden Rings" but are saved by a technicality and Santa Claus, ensuring a happy ending.

"We gotta catch an elf." "You messed with the wrong family!" The latest trailer for Amazon’s “Candy Cane Lane” is little different than the previous announcement teaser, just with more visuals and slightly more exposition offered up.
It’s the same beat, with Murphy as a husband/father who takes the concept of Christmas decorations way too far and accidentally sells his soul to an evil elf played by Jillian Bell. It’s the same beat, with Murphy as a husband/father who takes the concept of Christmas decorations way too far and accidentally sells his soul to an evil elf played by Jillian Bell. That wish brings about not world peace but the 12 Days of Christmas coming to life via unleashing PG-rated chaos on the town.

[Editor’s Note: This article contains spoilers for Amazon Prime Video’s “The Wilds.”]
Not to get too “12 Days of Christmas” about it, but on Amazon Prime Video’s “The Wilds” there are nine female leads, six female directors, four female executive producers, four female writers, and a female stunt coordinator. It’s a series by women, for women, and about women — and given the rigors of the emotional subject manner and the YA audience’s bloodhound instinct for phoniness, using a cast and crew composed of people who have actually been teenage girls makes perfect sense.
It shouldn’t be that audacious, and yet it feels like it is. It also breaks boundaries because of the cross-genre storytelling — it’s both a survival tale and a coming-of-age story — and the fact that many of the characters are forced to deal with intersectional bias in their arcs.
The logline is deceptively simple: Nine teenage girls are, ostensibly,...

As a December baby, Christmas has always been my favorite holiday. I'm that person who will gladly put up my tree early and start playing festive music before Thanksgiving. While I love all the traditions that come with the holiday, my favorite Christmas album is a bit untraditional. When everyone else is blasting Mariah Carey or Michael Bublé, you can find me scream-singing along to Relient K's 2007 album, Let It Snow, Baby . . . Let It Reindeer.
The Christian rock group first rose to fame in the early 2000s with hits like "Be My Escape" and "Who I Am Hates Who I've Been," but if you ask me, their holiday album is one of their best records of all time. It stays true to the band's signature sound by weaving upbeat tempo tracks and heartbreakingly beautiful melodies throughout. Sure, a rock Christmas album isn't exactly conventional, but that's what makes it so memorable.

Hallmark’s 2020 “Countdown to Christmas” has already begun, with a total of 40 new holiday movies set to air this season across the Hallmark Channel and sister network Hallmark Movies & Mysteries — some of which started rolling out well before Halloween.
While there are some fan-favorite Hallmark actors and actresses starring in the lineup, like Candace Cameron Bure, Lacey Chabert, Will Kemp, Holly Robinson Peete and Danica McKellar, there are several newcomers leading films, including Aaron Tveit, Krystal Joy Brown, Victoria Clark, Tom McGowan, Alvina August, Janel Parrish, Jeremy Jordan and Marisol Nichols, among many others.
This year’s slate also includes “The Christmas House,” which stars Jonathan Bennett and features a storyline about a gay couple looking to adopt their first child. Hallmark and its competitor Lifetime have been criticized over the years for not including LGBTQ lead characters and related plots in their Christmas movies. Hallmark said it would commit...

Who isn't a sucker for childhood best friends falling in love with each other as adults?
It's one of the best tropes, and The Christmas Aunt gave it to us in all of its glory with Becca and Drew.
Aren't you thrilled those two worked through their differences and found happiness by the end of the film?
Jarod Joseph is in his element as the pining best friend. It's the same setup he had during last year's The Christmas Pact with Kyla Pratt.
And of course, Keisha Knight-Pulliam is a Lifetime Christmas Movie queen. The two of them played off of each other well, and you couldn't help counting down the seconds until they hashed out their differences.
It took some time before we got to the core of what separated the two friends. It was apparent they had a close rapport with one another, and their reconnection had...
