Two and a half years have gone by since we heard that genre regular Samara Weaving was starring in the comedic thriller Borderline, which was filming in Vancouver with The Babysitter: Killer Queen and Cocaine Bear writer Jimmy Warden (who happens to be married to Weaving) at the helm, making his feature directorial debut. Now, a trailer for the film has arrived online, and you can check it out in the embed above!
Borderline will be getting a theatrical and digital release, courtesy of Magnet Releasing, on March 14th.
Warden’s Borderline script, which was once featured on the Black List, centers on a helplessly romantic sociopath who escapes from a mental institution and invades the home of a ’90s pop superstar. He just wants to be loved; she just wants to survive.

Paul Giamatti, who co-hosts his own podcast about all things high strange, is set to play paranormal broadcaster and author Art Bell in an upcoming biopic, Deadline reports.
The site notes that the package comes courtesy of the Radio Silence team, with Amazon and Warner Bros. among those currently interested.
Deadline details, “The pitch is a biopic about the late paranormal DJ Art Bell, who would broadcast his radio show from his home studio 65 miles west of Las Vegas, fielding unscreened telephone calls in a five-hour show on Knye-FM called Coast to Coast.”
“Guests would offer up eyewitness stories on Bell’s show about alien encounters, past lives, time travel and more X-Files-like situations,” Deadline’s article this week continues.
The aforementioned podcast Chinwag similarly features Paul Giamatti and co-host Stephen Asma covering the very same topics, so this project is very much in the actor’s wheelhouse.

Ready Or Not directors Radio Silence are to pivot from horror to biopic with a film about eccentric radio host, Art Bell. Paul Giamatti is to star.
According to a new report, several studios are vying for the next project from Radio Silence, the horror filmmakers who brought us Ready Or Not, Scream VI and Abigail. The directing duo – individually known as Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett – have so far cut their teeth in the horror genre, but their next feature will instead centre around the life of the late Art Bell. He was a legendary American radio host who would take calls from eccentrics nationwide; every night you’d get odd stories from callers who claimed they were victims of alien abductions, conspiracy theories, supernatural entities or other oddities.

From Ghostface to a paranormal DJ? Deadline reports that the filmmaking team known as Radio Silence (Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett) are teaming up with Paul Giamatti for a biopic about the late Art Bell. Best known as the founder and original host of Coast to Coast Am, Bell would field unscreened calls from all sorts of people, listening to stories of alien abduction, conspiracy theories, strange creatures, and just about everything you could imagine.
According to Deadline, several studios, including Universal, Amazon, and Warner Bros., are bidding on the Art Bell biopic. Sam Chalsen and Nelson Greaves are writing the script. This is a bit of a different project from the team that has given us Ready or Not, Abigail, and two Scream movies, but it has the potential to be quite interesting. Plus, I could watch Paul Giamatti do just about anything.

In Coast to Coast‘s heyday in the 1990s, it would pull in around 10 million listeners.

Radio Silence, the horror filmmaking banner known for reviving the Scream franchise, has signed with CAA.
The banner was previously at UTA.
Radio Silence, comprised of directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, most recently directed Universal’s 2024 vampire thriller Abigail. Producer Chad Villella is no longer with the outfit.
Radio Silence made segments of horror anthologies V/H/S and Southbound, delivering their feature debut with the supernatural horror movie Devil’s Due, which bowed in 2014 and grossed nearly $37 million on a $7 million budget But it was their 2019 black horror comedy Ready or Not that became a breakthrough hit, grossing more than $57 million on a budget of around $6 million.
That led the team to tackle a resuscitation of the Scream franchise, first with Scream, in 2022, and then Scream VI in 2023. The movies starred Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega. The duo departed the franchise in order to make Abigail, which starred Barrera,...

Ready or Not's ending reveals the complex rules of the celebrated horror film's deadly game of hide-and-seek. Directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Devil's Due), Ready or Not stars Samara Weaving as Grace, a beautiful bride marrying into the fabulously wealthy Le Domas family. Immediately after saying "I do", Grace learns from her new husband Alex (Mark O'Brien) that she must play a game at midnight as part of their eccentric tradition for anyone new joining the family.
A gleefully entertaining black comedy crossed with gruesome survival horror, Ready or Not is layered with a complex set of rules and mythology that is revealed throughout Grace's ordeal with her in-laws from hell. According to the Le Domas dynasty, Grace must survive the night to gain acceptance into the family — as if she would still want to be a part of it after her nightmarish post-wedding ordeal. The sadistic...

In “Blink Twice” (2024), billionaire tech mogul Slater King (Channing Tatum) invites nail artist/cocktail waitress Frida (Naomi Ackle) to join him and his friends for a dream vacation on his private island. As unsettling events begin to unfold, Frida is forced to unravel the island’s dark secrets if she hopes to survive. The movie’s spoiler-heavy trailer gave the impression of an “elevated” psychological horror, tapping into the social commentary thriller market of films like “Get Out” (2017), “The Menu” (2022), “Ready or Not” (2019), and “Glass Onion” (2022). Either way, it felt like a promising directing debut for Zoë Kravitz, and I was at the very least sold.

The soundtrack of Virgin River season 6 includes iconic songs and less prominent ones that fully capture the themes and atmosphere of the emotional drama romance. “Virgin River” is all about the ambiance. The cozy romance transports viewers to a tight-knit community tucked away in the scenic town of Virgin River, but the sounds are just as important as the sights in setting that scene. Especially in Season 6!
Netflix’s “Virgin River” always sets its scenes to a soundtrack full of folksy melodies and gentle acoustics, but Season 6 puts music front and center in the love story between Mel’s biological parents, which transports viewers back to Virgin River in the ’70s when her father was an aspiring musician. It even prominently features an original song by The Lumineers’ Wesley Schultz titled “This Heart of Mine.”
It’s a jam-packed soundtrack as usual, so if you’re trying to keep track of the needle drops, here’s a handy guide to all the songs in “Virgin River” Season 6.

Casting announcements for the upcoming horror film Scream 7 are coming in quickly! The latest to join the cast is Hysteria! star Anna Camp, and we're curious about who she will be playing in the new movie. Unfortunately, character details are being kept secret, but this isn't surprising, as most of the previous casting announcements didn't include character details either.
Camp's casting comes just a day after the announcement that Mason Gooding would be reprising his role as Chad Meeks-Martin from Scream (2022) and Scream VI in the seventh installment. Also joining the cast in new roles are Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace (Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire), Celeste O’Connor (Madame Web), and Sam Rechner (The Fabelmans).

Radio Silence, the filmmaking team behind Ready or Not, Abigail, and the two most recent Scream sequels, are gearing up to go into production on Ready or Not 2 – but while Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are directing that sequel and producing it with Chad Villella, the trio are also producing a feature expansion of Colleen McGuinness’ short film Loser. Deadline reports that Angourie Rice, who also starred in the short, is set to star in the Loser feature alongside Ella Purnell (Fallout), Finn Bennett (True Detective: Night Country), and Lukas Gage (The White Lotus).
Details on the characters being played by Purnell, Bennett, and Gage have not been revealed, but we know that Rice will be playing Alice, a brilliant but troubled physicist, as she attempts to heal her trauma by using time travel, but gets caught in a twisty, cat-and-mouse game of murder and violence in New York City.

But if you have already seen the movie or haven’t been avoiding spoilers, you probably know by now that Mikey Madison of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and this year’s critically acclaimed Anora was not only one of the film’s Ghostface-mask-wearing killers, but her character was even responsible for killing off the fan favorite character of Dewey Riley, played by David Arquette. Dewey survived (sometimes barely) four full Scream movies, but when he crossed paths with Mikey Madison in the fifth film, that was it for him. Christmas movies on Netflix are already hot — not frosty.
The streamer’s latest Global Top 10 list included three Christmas movies: Chad Michael Murray and Britt Robertson film “The Merry Gentlemen” debuting at No. 1, “Hot Frosty” slipping to number 2, and “Meet Me Next Christmas” with Christina Millian charting seventh in its third week on the list.
Forget Christmas — it’s not even Thanksgiving.
“The Merry Gentlemen” had 14.7 million views in the week of November 18, according to Netflix, while “Hot Frosty” with Lacey Chabert and Dustin Milligan had 12.7 million (it had 16 million views in its debut). “Meet Me Next Christmas” had 5.9 million views last week.
On the TV side, the new Mike Schur show “A Man on the Inside” starring Ted Danson crammed a lump of coal down “Arcane’s” chimney. “A Man on the Inside” debuted at number 1 with 6.9 million views, denying “Arcane” Season 2 the top spot. (The second “Arcane” season...

The first half of 2024 was pretty unkind to a lot of movies. The box office was on life support for most of that period and it all felt kind of bleak for anyone who pays attention to such things. The most depressing part was that quite a few great movies were being hung out to dry, including "The Fall Guy" and "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga," among others. "Abigail," the latest horror movie from the filmmaking collective known as Radio Silence, was also a big disappointment theatrically. Fortunately though, it's finally finding its audience.
"Abigail" is currently streaming on Prime Video and, as of this writing, is sitting in the number four spot on Amazon's most-watched movies chart (via FlixPatrol). It's currently only trailing Mark Wahlberg's 2021 sci-fi flop "Infinite" (which also recently found new life on Prime Video), Nancy Meyers' perennial 2006 rom-com "The Holiday,...

What happens when a quirky, blood-soaked horror-comedy suddenly finds itself in front of a global streaming audience? It becomes a surprise hit—again. That’s exactly what’s happening with Ready or Not, a 2019 sleeper hit that’s now taking Netflix’s global charts by storm. The film, which grossed $57.6 million on a modest $6 million budget during its theatrical run, is proving that some stories only get better with time.
Starring the fiercely talented Samara Weaving, Ready or Not mixes dark comedy, slasher thrills, and a sharp critique of societal norms. Directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett—also known as the duo behind the latest Scream films—the movie follows Grace, a bride who must survive her wedding night after discovering her new in-laws’ horrifying secret: they’re hunting her as part of a deadly ritual.

Netflix's new Christmas movie with an 89% Rotten Tomatoes score becomes the streaming service's No. 1 movie as the holiday season begins. Netflix has been producing original Christmas movies since 2017, starting with A Christmas Prince. Since then, the streaming service has solidified its reputation as a go-to platform for holiday films with titles like The Princess Switch starring Vanessa Hudgens, The Christmas Chronicles starring Kurt Russell, and Klaus, an Oscar-nominated animated movie, exemplifying the diversity of Netflix's Christmas movie catalog.
In 2024, Netflix already had the holiday romantic comedy, Meet Me Next Christmas, top its Global Top 10 chart for the week of November 410 with over 18 million views. The holiday season is just beginning, so there should be plenty more Christmas movies appearing on Netflix's global chart before the year's end. This includes Netflix's new romantic comedy Christmas movie starring Lacey Chabert, a frequent star of Hallmark's Christmas movies, which has become the streaming service's new No.

A hit 2019 horror movie that grossed more than $57 million has enjoyed a new lease of life on streaming platform Netflix. Horror has always been a popular and important genre and has allowed actors and directors alike to experiment and try new things. The recent rise of so-called "elevated horror," which has followed the found-footage craze of the early 2000s, has brought fresh and interesting horror movies to a more mainstream audience in recent times. Movies like Abigail, Hereditary, Terrifier, Speak No Evil, and Get Out have shown a range of modern horror over the past decade.
Horror movies have performed very well on streaming platforms over the past few years, and are frequently among the most watched categories, which could have a lot to do with people's innate desire to be scared, and the thrill this can bring. From previous films by Radio Silence to similarly blood-soaked vampire comedies like The Lost Boys, there are plenty of great horror movies like Abigail for fans to check out. Helmed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, known collectively as Radio Silence, Abigail puts a fresh comedic spin on the vampire mythology. It revolves around an elite group of crooks being sent to abduct the 12-year-old ballerina daughter of a powerful figure in the criminal underworld, only to find that shes actually a bloodthirsty, centuries-old vampire. Shes not trapped in a mansion with them; theyre trapped in a mansion with her.
Before turning their sights to the vampire genre, Radio Silence had put their own uniquely energetic and darkly comic stamp on horror cinema with Ready or Not and their Scream films. Abigail isnt the first movie to wring pitch-black humor out of vampires having fun; this was previously seen in From Dusk Till Dawn.

If Ready or Not had you hooked with its intense survival thrills and dark humor, there are two lesser-known gems that will scratch that same itch. Both You’re Next and The House of the Devil dive into the realms of survival horror and eerie suspense, offering unique twists on classic horror setups. They’re perfect companions for fans of Ready or Not who want more nail-biting tension and sinister secrets lurking behind family facades.
You’re Next (2011) is a home invasion thriller that flips the genre on its head with its clever twists and sharp humor. When a wealthy family gathers for a reunion in their remote mansion, they’re ambushed by a group of masked assailants. But the attackers soon realize they’ve underestimated one of their targets: Erin, played by Sharni Vinson, whose survival instincts are nothing short of lethal. Every year of late seems to be a great year for horror, so it's hardly a surprise that 2024 is holding its own in the scares department. As has been the case with the genre, the fun of this year's terror pictures have been how they attack our fears from unexpected angles while placing fresh spins on seemingly hoary forms. Think you're totally checked out on slasher flicks? Here's Chris Nash's "In a Violent Nature" to pull you back in. Feel like the serial killer procedural has aped "The Silence of the Lambs" into hideous self-parody? Oz Perkins has a little number called "Longlegs" that injects that formula with an unsettlingly atmospheric and just plain bizarre energy (that last element coming courtesy of Nicolas Cage who wanders through the film shrieking like a banshee). Done with vampires? The "Ready or Not" duo of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett have a...

Milla Jovovich's Leeloo from Luc Besson's '90s sci-fi movie, The Fifth Element, has always been a very popular costume choice among celebrities around this time of year, but we're not sure anyone has ever pulled off this look quite as well as Samara Weaving.

After a memorably viral run both in theaters and its original streaming platform, Late Night with the Devil is continuing to find success. After playing the festival circuit beginning with 2023's SXSW, Late Night with the Devil became a critical hit, garnering near universal acclaim and a solid box office haul of over $15 million.

Ready or Not 2 is officially happening, and the upcoming sequel needs to finally pay off this Melissa Barrera horror crossover that was teased six months ago. The first Ready or Not proved that directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett were some of the modern masters of horror, with the incredibly fun thriller being one of the most memorable movies of 2019. Now that the long-awaited Ready or Not sequel has finally been officially announced, Ready or Not 2 needs to flesh out a horror cinematic universe that the directors set up only a few months ago.
2019's Ready or Not was tons of fun, with it following Samara Weaving's newlywed Grace Le Domas after she realizes that she has to play an overnight game of hide and seek with her husband's family. However, if she is caught, she will die. Although Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett had directed some great movies before,...

Hip, hip, hooray! We finally have confirmation that a Ready or Not 2 is happening after months of speculation. On Oct. 12, Radio Silence (the team behind the first film) announced at a Searchlight screening for the 2019 film that started it all, Ready or Not, that a sequel was officially in the works. Here's everything we know so far about the upcoming Ready or Not 2.
Unfortunately, it's unknown when production will start on the film. A release date hasn't been revealed either. However, this isn't surprising, seeing as though the sequel was just announced. It'll be some time before these juicy deets are revealed. However, what we do know is that Samara Weaving will be returning. Weaving starred in the leading role of Grace in the first film.

Over the weekend Radio Silence, the production company behind the 2019 horror-comedy hit Ready or Not, revealed they’re now working on a sequel.
