A film adaptation of the viral found-footage films created by YouTuber Kane Parsons was announced to be in development at A24 back in 2023, with minimal updates since. But it looks like A24 is finally preparing to move full steam ahead with the project as a new report from Deadline suggests casting is underway. Cristin Milioti has been cast in the FX drama pilot “Seven Sisters,” Variety has learned.

Milioti will appear alongside previously announced lead Elizabeth Olsen in the pilot, which was first announced in March. The pilot is said to follow a young mother (Olsen) who begins hearing a mysterious voice, forcing her large family to confront long-buried secrets. The pilot is slated to begin production in May.

Milioti’s casting will no doubt delight comic book media fans, as Milioti and Olsen have both led projects for DC and Marvel respectively. The Amazon Freevee comedy, which became a surprise hit for the platform and migrated over to Prime Video after the sibling streamer’s shuttering, already produced its next installment, according to media reports.

Amazon representatives declined to comment for the story.

The new season is believed to be set at a corporate retreat instead of a courtroom, according to a report from Variety. Filming took place in Los Angeles and Deadline reported the story will center around a David vs. Goliath theme.

Premiering this Sunday, Oct.6 at 10/9c and counting two-time James Bond movie director Sam Mendes among its executive producers, The Franchise follows the crew of an unloved franchise movie — Tecto: Eye of the Storm — as they fight for their place “in a savage and unruly cinematic universe.”

As it turns out, Milioti has actually tried very hard over the years to get into the superhero genre, but she just hasn’t been having any luck until the Batman spinoff started coming around.

In a recent interview with Showsha, Milioti talked about wanting to land a superhero role ever since she was a kid. She says, “It’s like a dream of a lifetime. I’ve dreamt of being, not just a villain, but like a Batman villain since I was so small, since I started watching movies.

Cristin Milioti has ventured across a lot of genres ever since her professional career started somewhere in the 2000s, pulling diverse roles ranging from sitcoms to thrillers to action pieces to rom-coms. Her exclusive role is in the currently raging critically commended R-rated miniseries The Penguin, which features her starring as Sofia Falcone alongside Collin Farrell’s Oz Cobbs.

While her other roles also hold significant resonance with her, this latest one, in particular, is a bit closer to Milioti’s heart than the rest. Pretty Little Liars season 3 is not happening, as Max canceled the reboot three months after a cliffhanger ending. Hailing from Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon-Bring, the fourth outing in the overall franchise had a slasher movie focus, paying homage to classics of the subgenre with a Pretty Little Liars reboot cast that included Bailee Madison, Chandler Kinney, Zaria, Malia Pyles, Maia Reficco, and Mallory Bechtel.

TVLine has confirmed that the rebooted Pretty Little Liars has been canceled by Max after two seasons. The news comes exactly three months after the conclusion of the reboot's second installment, Summer School, which wrapped up with a major cliffhanger. Premiering on HBO on Thursday, September 19, “The Penguin” takes place just a few weeks after the events of “The Batman,” but centers on crime boss Oz Cobb — better known as the Penguin. Paramount Global’s decision to shutter its namesake TV studio means the loss of dozens of jobs, the shifting of several series to another banner and a consolidation of power within the company’s two remaining TV studios — at least until a potential Skydance-Paramount merger is complete.

Paramount TV Studios ceased operations Aug. 16 as part of heavy layoffs at the parent company. Paramount is cutting 15 percent of its U.S.-based employees in an effort to lop $500 million off its balance sheet. The studio’s current productions, including the Prime Video hit Reacher and Apple TV+’s Time Bandits, along with upcoming shows Cross (Prime Video), Before and Murderbot (both at Apple TV+) and any projects in development, will move to corporate sibling CBS Studios.

Cristin Milioti is lending her voice to Season 2 of the Hulu adult animated series “Hit-Monkey,” Variety has learned exclusively.

As previously reported, Season 2 will see Monkey (Fred Tatasciore) and the ghost of American assassin Bryce (Jason Sudeikis) travel from Japan to New York. It is due to premiere on Hulu in July 15.

Milioti will star as Iris. Her official character description states, “Iris has grown up vowing never to be like the father, Bryce, who abandoned her, but when fate brings them back together, she realizes that she and her old man are cut from the same cloth as they hurtle towards a final reconciliation.”
