All the World Is Birthday Cake

During the banquet scene, Captain Mercer says "we all do better when we all do better." This is a phrase that was famously used by Minnesota Senator Paul Wellstone.

The society places a huge importance on when a child is born. The guards and camp director seem to not even notice that the pregnant lady is no longer pregnant. This seems like something they would have been monitoring especially since the timing will create either a criminal or a leader.
