The first season was not as good as the second season. Second season focuses more on facts and less emotion. I believe that's where Derrick shines best, also what I enjoy watching most.

I would definitely continue to watch new episodes! The ID channel has other shows where the crimes aren't necessarily solved but give you details of the case that could possibly contribute to someone coming forward. Once you see what the families have to live through & live with, perhaps it would drive someone that does know something to do the right thing. I thought they did a good job for the first 6 episodes! Let them take some of the constructive criticisms and apply those things going forward.

I enjoyed the show and look forward to the new episodes. It's a nice change of pace from the typical ID show which are heavy on reactments of gruesome crimes. This show is from the perspective of cold case detective and takes you along on interviews with forensic experts who analyze the autopsy, crime scene, suspect behavior. They also include interviews with people close to the victim and some of whom are potential suspects. The cases are interesting and usually complex. Each case ends with the Kris and Derrick's analysis of the evidence gathered and their theory of what happened. These are usually cases that remain open so don't expect the conclusion to include an arrest or conviction. I thought both Kris and Derrick were sincere and sensitive to the feelings of the victims families. My only criticism is many of the cases have involve 2-part episodes which I think could have been condensed into one.

It's like they pulled a couple of homeless bums to review this case - there was nothing good about this episode other than it finally ended. It took everything that I had to keep it playing.
These two start from the very beginning catching the audience up on the past, present and then watch the fallout of the new findings and or confirmations. This is entertainment, every series has it's own spin on drama so I don't even try to base my rating on the drama. The true emotional intent and their approach to the final theory are excellent and gives the viewers hope that justice will soon be served. Every episode may not keep all of us sitting on the edge of our seats but I have no doubt that Derek, Kris and the ID team will raise the bar in the hunt for justice with every cold case. The show is up to date and uses modern technology in criminal investigations. It has a young cast and crew that are working hard to crack the case and continuously keeps the viewers in the know.

If this dude wants to pull off his Tom Foolery, he should go to MTV. The audience at Investigation Discovery knows he is fake. He makes me want to never watch the channel again, especially with the non-stop commercials for S2 of this dumb show. Ugh!

I do not agree about them just agreeing. They are the reason these cases are even being dealt with. They are at a standstill & that is why they come in...What a great show!! Kris & Derrick do a pnenominal job in keeping the audience interested! The dynamic between the two of them is great! The cases they report on are heartbreaking & you find yourself in the edge of your seat, or yelling at the screen because you are so outraged by the crimes! There has not been one episode in which I was not anxious to find out what happens! We watch a ton of crime shows in our house & there are a lot of cases being repeated from one show to the next. They usually put a different spin on it & tell things you did not know before but it still makes you wonder.. Why aren't they reporting the cases we have not heard over & over?? What about everyone else?!? So it has been refreshing to see a handful of new cold cases shows. Though I really do like all of the cold case shows I have seen so far, this one is the best, in my opinion!! We really hope this goes on for a long time! These guys are doing a wonderful thing for the victims, their loved ones, & the communities affected... for America, really! Who is to say these guys will not move elsewhere one day!? Solving these cases is really helpful to all of us! It puts my mind at ease a little when at the end of a horrifying story, there is hope that one more creep is/will soon be put away, for good!! With the "flawless" work Derrick & Kris are doing, if the culprits do not get convicted, they probably will not at all because their detective skills are spot on! At the risk of sounding cliche, they leave no stone unturned! Truly!! The best part is that even though they know they are fantastic investigators, they are not so arrogant to think they cannot be wrong! They check everything, interview everyone they can, 2nd guess themselves & check themselves by collabing with each other to make sure they are not just caught up on one person! It is interesting to watch! The fact that they really seem to care for these people & have such empathy, really warms your heart & makes it that much better! If anyone I know were ever God forbid, in need of investigators, they would be one of the top 3 teams in the list of suggestions! Anyone would be blessed to have them on their side, fighting for their loved ones!! Awesome work guys!!!!

This is a pretty damn interesting show. In a nutshell they walk you through a cold case investigation and attempt to determine who was responsible. I feel that they uncovered the right suspect in Episode 1 and I'm looking forward to the rest of the first season (I'm on the 4th episode now). I can't stand seeing these ridiculous comments about thinking that the investigators are disingenuous and that Derrick shedding some tears was fake. I see nothing fake about it; he grew up in the area, knew the mother, and had to tell her about these tragic things that happened to her daughter while he himself can relate as he's a father.
Looking forward to seeing Derrick and Kris investigate more cases which hopefully leads to some being closed and justice / closure for the victims families. Thanks to I.D. for picking up this show and thanks to D and K for doing their work, it's appreciated by a lot of us.

Agree with previous post of fake crying. That was difficult to watch, and undermined credibility. In addition, I'm not sure how responsible it is to tell family members about accused when there's no indication they went to the police first. Shouldn't the authorities be involved before they give out names? What if someone in the victim's family decides to take matters into their own hands (especially since it's been a cold case for years)? Seems pretty irresponsible to me. I like many of the ID channel shows, but this one's a miss. I probably won't watch again.
They always just agree with whatever the police have already concluded. They don't have any new evidence or special access. I also agree with the other reviews that they pump up the emotional drama in an insincere way. I love most ID shows but this one's weak.

I enjoy Kris Mohandie. But Derrick has to go. He's a total narcissist! Featuring him on this show is as bad as the ID channel broadcasting charity drives for the ASPCA. Disgusting!

The closeup of Derrick fake crying ruined season 1 episode 1. Derrick fake cried just like that in his diary room sessions on Big Brother 16 (in addition to lying to the audience). The guy is disingenuous and lacks charisma.

First, I want to make it clear that I love ID and all of their series.
However, I am surprised that this terrible show is on ID.
I agree with the others in regard to Derricks's fake crying: it is uncomfortable to watch and I feel like the victim's family is being exploited when he does this.
I get an insincere and opportunistic vibe from both Derrick and Kris. I feel like the victims' families are given false hope, and it hurts me to have to see the families re-tell their stories just to get the same answers they had before.
I will not be watching this show again. Sorry.

Unless the local cops were totally inept from the beginning, I wondered if these two guys, who are clearly not detectives, just used the known suspects and evidence, re-interviewed the victims, then took credit for identifying a suspect that was already in police evidence? The tears did bother me some, but the ladies love that kind of fake stuff! I'm done with this boring show.
Don't like it at all please don't show too much on channel I would like to watch something else

So I've watched 3 episodes and calling it quitswith this show. As a true crime enthusiast & having seen 'em all, this one is a right snooze-fest. You may learn about a case you didn't already know about, but what a f.....g boring presentation. They are regurgitating facts & emotions (lots of tears as you would ecpect) but never really progress cases beyond what's already known. So much so that the show is bogged down & boring. This is a lazy, poor excuse for a true crime show.
People, I'm afraid Jo Kenda's Homicide Hunter (the Apex of true crime shows imo) has spoiled me for most of the newer generation of true crime shows.
I'd rather watch Married With Secrets or Who the Bleep Did I Marry, and that's saying something because as cheeszy as they can be, both shows are way more entertaining and engaging than Breaking Homicide.
