Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award winner Colman Domingo stars in Netflix's conspiracy thriller series The Madness, which made its premiere on Nov. 28, Thanksgiving Day. The series has been one of the most highly anticipated Netflix new releases of 2024, Domingo's first major television role since earning his Emmy win in 2022 for his performance in HBO's Euphoria.
The Madness comes from creator Stephen Belber, who's known for his work on projects like The Laramie Project, O.G., Rescue Me, Tommy, and What We Do Next. In the series, Domingo stars as political media pundit Muncie Daniels, whose life is turned upside down when he finds a body in the woods and becomes a suspect for the crime he didn't commit. What results is a dangerous conspiracy.

Throughout the happenings at Princeton in 1955, there's an insidious feeling that Quantum Leap Season 2 Episode 6 will grow in significance as the season progresses.
On the surface, it's an exciting quest adventure, marrying the historical enchantment of the National Treasure franchise with the life-threatening pursuit by universal baddies of the Indiana Jones adventures.
But it also includes several pivotal moments for Ben and the Quantum Leap team as the secret of time travel has been revealed, and major events are set in motion.
Of course, there have canonically been others who have known about Ziggy and Quantum Leap. The O.G. series had Lothos and its Evil Leapers. Even Quantum Leap Season 1 had Martinez and his murderous military/government bosses. And, of course, there's Janis and Beth Cavalicci.
But sharing the secret of quantum time travel has always been understood by the team as something they cannot share outside the inner circle,...

For horror movie fans and collectors, there is some good news as actress Jamie Lee Curtis’ house from the original 1978 ‘Halloween’ film is now up for sale, and is nearly reaching the $2 million point, having so far been priced for $1.8 million.
The house is the original place where Curtis’ character from the movie, Laurie Strode, lived in the fictional area of Haddonfield, in the state of Illinois. In the iconic horror-slasher film, the house is glimpsed in the background in a scene in which Curtis sat on a front garden wall, holding a pumpkin on her lap.
Talking to People, Heidi Babcock of eXp Realty revealed that currently the house is priced over $1.8 million and will soon go up to $2 million, which is a highly exorbitant sum, given that despite its significance to pop culture, the house is similar to any standard American house.

“Make sure there’s scary Deadites, and use the book.”
When Lee Cronin assumed writing/directing duties for Evil Dead Rise, those were Sam Raimi’s requests. Of course, there were other ingredients for the fifth installment of The Evil Dead horror franchise—launched in 1981 by director Raimi, producer Rob Tapert, and Bruce Campbell—such as blood, gore, chainsaws, and boomsticks.
But then the Irish filmmaker and lifelong Evil Dead fan reveals to us he had his own mission: “To bring you in, wind you up, and then punch you in the face for an hour.”
Handpicked by Raimi, who was impressed by Cronin’s short film “Ghost Train” and first feature, The Hole in the Ground, the director began filming Evil Dead Rise in New Zealand in June 2021. With all three serving as producers, Tapert joined the shoot on the ground while Raimi and Campbell supported his vision from afar.

Just as film and TV have the Oscars and the Emmys, The Podcast Academy is positioning the Ambies to become the event of the year for the podcast industry as well as the newest fixture of Hollywood awards season, complete with shiny statuettes and a swanky ceremony that, for at least one evening, compels podcasters to dress for the camera.
Hosted by Larry Wilmore, the annual event’s third edition is taking place March 7 at the Westgate Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The company to beat will be Audible, which received a total of 19 nominations across the 26 Ambies categories, including several nods for podcast of the year (see below).

Tracy Lauren Marrow had one of the coolest stage names when he entered the rap game, dubbing himself with a moniker that’ll forever be synonymous with hip-hop: Ice-t. Nearly 40 years later, Mariska Hargitay has now revealed she has a fresher nickname for him, if not a cooler one.
The revelation came to light on Thursday at Ice-t’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony. While presenting the legendary rapper, and actor, Hargitay said one of the reasons why she loves Ice-t is because he allows her to call him nicknames. While at the podium, she turned to her “Law & Order: Svu” co-star and practically begged him if she could divulge the nickname only she’s allowed to call him.

Ariana Madix gives an update on her relationship with Tom Sandoval after a “cryptic” post. Pic credit: ©ImageCollect.com/Admedia
Vanderpump Rules star Ariana Madix is setting the record straight after several fans misunderstood a recent post on social media.
Ariana joined the Vanderpump Rules cast in Season 2 thanks to her close friendship with Og star Tom Sandoval. Although the pair were simply friends at the time, drama exploded between Ariana and Tom’s then-girlfriend Kristen Doute surrounding her insecurities about their friendship.
After Tom and Kristen finally called it quits, Tom and Ariana were free to explore their feelings for one another and have been one of the show’s most solid relationships since.
Although the couple has opted to remain unmarried, their commitment to one another is seemingly unwavering. However, that didn’t stop fans from questioning one of Ariana’s recent posts on social media.
Their concern isn’t completely unfounded.

Fox led the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic on Monday night with the season finales of “9-1-1” and “9-1-1: Lone Star.” The original series secured a 0.75 demo rating (the highest of the night) and 5.5 million total viewers, while “Lone Star” drew a 0.62 demo rating and 4.6 million total viewers. CBS still managed to secure the most eyeballs during primetime, with an average of 5.6 million people tuning in. The network boasted the most-watched individual show, which was “NCIS” with 6.5 million total viewers. The penultimate episode of Season 19 also got a 0.44 demo rating. The CW’s “All American” and “All American: Homecoming” saw a boost in ratings this week, as both series head toward their finales. The penultimate episode of the O.G. series scored a 0.17 demo rating, compared to 0.11 last week. “Homecoming” saw a 0.13 demo rating, up from a 0.08 last week. Audiences love a good procedural drama. Fox’s “9-1-1” and CBS’ “NCIS” both scored top spots among Monday night’s primetime ratings.
“9-1-1” earned the title of highest-rated (as did the network overall). The Ryan Murphy series secured a 0.7 demo rating and 5.1 million total viewers in the 8 p.m. slot.
In terms of viewers, “NCIS” was the clear winner with 7.3 million people tuning in at 9 p.m.. The O.G. series as well as its spinoff, “NCIS: Hawai’i” were back with new episodes on Monday after a week of re-airings. The network also dominated viewership overall, averaging about 6 million viewers throughout primetime.
“American Idol” only aired for one hour instead of two, which didn’t impact its numbers too much. The singing competition still drew a 0.68 demo rating and 5.9 million total viewers. In the second hour of primetime, ABC aired a new episode of “Shark Tank,” which also fared well with...

The Season 1 finale of “Ghosts,” which aired Thursday night on CBS, helped the network to another ratings win.
CBS’ full comedy slate won the night, led by “Young Sheldon” and the aforementioned “Ghosts.”
The “Big Bang Theory” spinoff, starring Iain Armitage, was the highest rated and most watched show of the night with a 0.58 rating in the 18-49 demo and 7.3 million total viewers.
The season finale of “Ghosts” was close behind with a 0.56 rating and 6.2 million total viewers.
ABC didn’t air any original on Thursday, taking up most of primetime with the 2019 film “Jumanji: The Next Level.” It didn’t do great ratings for the network (but it didn’t do horribly either), bringing in a 0.39 rating and 2.1 million total viewers.
Here’s how the broadcast ratings for the major networks broke down:

“American Idol” reigned supreme on Monday night, scoring the highest ratings in the key demo during primetime. The long-running singing competition’s 0.74 rating in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic helped boost ABC to the top spot for the night. But ABC couldn’t touch CBS and the “NCIS” franchise in terms of viewership. The O.G. series was the most-watched show during primetime, with 6.8 million people tuning in at 9 p.m. NBC’s “American Song Contest” fell off slightly since its premiere last week, drawing about a million less eyeballs this time around. ABC was first in ratings with a 0.64 in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic. CBS was first in total viewers with 6.1 million, according to preliminary numbers. Fox came in second in ratings with a 0.6, while ABC was second in total viewers with 5.1 million. Fox was third in total viewers with 4.4 million. NBC’s “America’s Got Talent: Extreme” series premiere was primetime’s highest rated show on Monday, but Fox’s “911: Lone Star” episode was the evening’s most-watched. Following the “AGT” spinoff, NBC debuted Morena Baccarin and Ryan Michelle Bathe’s “The Endgame” at 10 p.m. The drama’s 3.2 million total viewers made it the fourth most-watched show of the night. Continuing the post-Beijing Olympics launch trend, The CW premiered “All American” spinoff, “All American: Homecoming,” to 470,000 total viewers. The O.G. “All American” also aired Monday night, doubling its spinoff’s rating in the key 18-49 demographic. Tracy Morgan’s The Last O.G. will be back for a fourth season. TBS has renewed the critically acclaimed comedy series, with writer, comedian and producer Owen Smith (Black-ish) to serve as showrunner for the new season. Smith takes over from Season 3 showrunner Keenen Ivory Wayans, who followed Season 2 showrunner Saladin K. Patterson and series co-creator John Carcieri in Season 1.
Missing from TBS’ announcement is female lead Tiffany Haddish. Since Season 1, when Haddish broke out with her starring turn on Girls Trip, there had been rumors that she would leave the show. TBS today would not address the actress’ future on The O.G. amid speculation that she would not be returning for Season r.
Co-created and executive-produced by Oscar-winner Jordan Peele, The Last O.G. follows Tray (Morgan), an ex-con who is shocked to see just how much the world has changed when he is released from a 15-year prison stint.

Madeleine Sackler Remembers Emmy-Nominated ‘It’s a Hard Truth Ain’t It’ Co-Director Charles Lawrence
As protests have swept the country over the last several months, awakening more people to the urgent call of Black Lives Matter, Covid-19 remains a constant reminder of the inequities of our systems. Disproportionately impacting people of color, Covid-19 is in particular ravaging people locked inside our prisons, which itself disproportionately impacts people of color.
Recently, these systems failed a dear friend of mine. An actor, singer, and filmmaker who I worked with inside a prison, Charles Lawrence, needlessly died of Covid while incarcerated in a maximum-security prison in Indiana.
One of the films we worked on together, “It’s a Hard Truth Ain’t It,” was just nominated for an Emmy, marking the first time anyone in prison has made a nominated film. “Hard Truth” was co-directed by 13 men from inside prison and released by HBO. But many of these men don’t even know their film was nominated.

The original series’ spinoff “The Deed: Chicago,” which stars Sean Conlon as host, lender and mentor, continues its sophomore season tonight with Episode 202.

Christmas week may seem an unusual time to release a pair of movies that largely take place on death row. But the folks behind “Just Mercy” and “Clemency” hope the holiday spirit will be open-hearted, and that the timing is, in fact, appropriate.
Two feature films round out a year where various media shed light on the plight of prisoners, especially those wrongfully convicted or harshly sentenced.
“Clemency,” which opens Friday, stars Alfre Woodard as a warden who witnesses two executions, leading to a personal crisis of conscience.
In “Just Mercy,” opening Christmas Day,” Michael B. Jordan stars in the true story of Harvard graduate Bryan Stevenson, who has spent decades fighting for the exoneration of erroneously charged prisoners. This film, in particular, will surely be noted come Oscar time, with newly-minted SAG Award nominee Jamie Foxx — who portrays the key defendant in a Stevenson case — a likely candidate for Best Supporting Actor.

The 48-year-old legend made history at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards on Monday by becoming the first female rapper to receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. The showstopper marked the first time she had returned to the VMAs stage since 2006. And for one of the most exciting parts of the show, the rapper brought out her O.G. hype girl, Alyson Stoner. The pendulum swings in the Emmys limited-series and television-movie categories, which were merged for three years beginning in 2011 because there weren’t enough limited series to fill out their own category. These days, though, there are more limited series than TV movies competing for Emmys, and the heat is all on the side of the multi-part dramas that tend to attract top-drawer talent both in front of and behind the cameras.
It wouldn’t be surprising to find no more than one or two TV-movie actors nominated in the four acting categories in which limited series and movie performances go head-to-head. And you can expect to find lots of Academy Award winners and big movie stars competing for Emmys in these categories, because potential nominees include Sam Rockwell, Patricia Arquette, Mahershala Ali, Emma Thompson, Anthony Hopkins, Amy Adams, Benedict Cumberbatch, Michelle Williams and Benicio Del Toro.

The limited series race at this year’s Emmys may be the most cutthroat, high-stakes battle of any category. Though featuring only a fraction of the hundreds of submissions featured in comedy and drama, the unusually strong crop of limited series means that multiple big-name, big budget projects are on a crash course to duking it out in September. Assuming, of course, that voters can determine which shows are worthy of nominations.
IndieWire is here to help. As we did with both drama and comedy, TV Awards Editor Libby Hill and TV Critic Ben Travers have selected an ideal ballot of more-than-worthy contenders from the 35 limited series, 21 TV movies, and 300-some performers submitted.
While there’s no way to represent all the excellent would-be Emmy nominees out there, the list below highlights critical voices in the TV industry and cuts out the riffraff so you have a clear picture of the best options.

“It was probably the most powerful experience I’ve had, and probably the most challenging,” admits Jeffrey Wright about his role as a convicted murderer in HBO’s film, “O.G.” A Tony and Emmy winner for the stage and television versions of Tony Kushner‘s “Angels in America,” Wright has earned two additional Emmy nominations for his role as Bernard on “Westworld.” In our exclusive interview (watch the video above), Wright discusses the impact the telefilm had on him and how it shines a light on the link between violence, mass incarceration, and poverty.
“O.G.” tells the story of Louis, a middle-aged convicted murderer who is about to be released after 24 years in prison. The movie is unique in that it was shot in an actual maximum security prison in Indiana, and much of the supporting cast consists of many of the inmates housed at that prison. Wright jokingly says...

What a difference a year can make when it comes to Emmy eligibility. In the 12 months since the window opened for series to compete at the 71st annual Primetime Emmy Awards, quite a number of once heavy-hitters opted to sit on the bench, while multiple-time champ “Veep” returned for one final Emmy ceremony.
Out of last year’s seven drama series contenders, only two are eligible to be back on the ballot: HBO’s “Game of Thrones” will compete for the final time, as the fantasy epic launched its last season in mid-April, approximately six weeks before the close of eligibility (May 31), and NBC’s family tearjerker “This Is Us” is also in contention for its third season.
While FX’s Soviet spy series “The Americans” took its final lap around the Television Academy voting pool last year, the other four series are airing new seasons too late to be considered.

Last Year’s Winner: Darren Criss, “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story”

Yesterday, the Tribeca Film Festival announced its lineup for 2019. Each year, the fest offers up a number of interesting movie options, some of which have even gone on to crack my year end top ten lists. Last year, for example, All About Nina remained one of my top five films of 2018 from its debut at Tribeca through the conclusion of the season. Coming right before the summer movie season, it offers up a tonic before the blockbusters fully descend upon us. What will this year bring? Well, that’ll be determined in late April when the festival begins, but the lineup offers a few hints about the higher profile titles that will be playing. Tribeca will be home to Georgetown, for example, marking the directorial debut of Christoph Waltz. He’ll also star. Jared Leto will screen his documentary A Day in the Life of America for the first time.

Jeffrey Wright walked out of his cell when the man locked up next door asked him for a favor. Wearing his tan prison onesie, the Emmy-winner and “Westworld” star looked like everyone else inside Indiana’s Pendleton Correctional Facility — an active maximum security prison. Just another guy, in another cell (cell No. 5), serving another sentence. Wright was used to people thinking this. Throughout the shoot, prison guards and the men they’re guarding mistook him for a convict. Most of the time, Wright said they “would literally look directly through me,” but his neighbor on the block was different.
“He said, ‘Hey man, you got any books?'” Wright recalled. “‘I read all my books.'”
So Wright walked back to his cell and picked out some books he thought this guy would appreciate. “[He was an] older tall and lanky white guy, so I got him some Louis L’Amour, I got him ‘Moby Dick,...

‘It’s a Hard Truth Ain’t It’: Prisoners Direct Their Own Stories in HBO’s Groundbreaking Doc — Watch
“It’s a Hard Truth Ain’t It” is the first widely released documentary to be directed by men still incarcerated in a maximum security prison, but its innovative storytelling doesn’t stop there. As the prisoners interview each other and come to terms with how they received decades-long sentences, their memories are depicted in animated sequences by Yoni Goodman, of “Waltz With Bashir” fame.
In the exclusive behind-the-scenes video below, co-director Madeleine Sackler, the film’s producers, and the incarcerated men themselves take you through the documentary’s premise and purpose.
“The men try to unpack how they all ended up in prison with violent sentences, and they use the experience of learning how to make a film to try to figure those things out,” Sackler says.
Alternating roles in front of and behind the camera, the men of Indiana’s Pendleton Correctional Facility study documentary filmmaking as they create their own autobiographical documentary.

Jeffrey Wright plays an incarcerated man on HBO’s “O.G.” And the actor was, for all intents and purposes, somewhat of an incarcerated man himself for the duration of filming, which was done entirely on location at an active, maximum-security prison in Indiana.
Premiering on HBO this Saturday after debuting at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival, “O.G.” was shot over a five-week period in the summer of 2016 at Pendleton Correctional Facility. Several of the staff and men incarcerated at the prison are featured as first-time actors in the film, which was written by Stephen Belber and directed by Madeleine Sackler.
But Wright, who is obviously not actually imprisoned himself, tells TheWrap that he became so comfortable shooting inside a prison cell that it was a “little unsettling.”

Burke recently collaborated with Nike to launch his own “Roc-a-Fella” Air Force 1 design.

In recent years, pop culture has witnessed the true-crime genre dominate podcasts, films, and series with works such as Serial, American Crime Story, and The Staircase. But seldom has the world seen a production process quite as involved as that of HBO's upcoming drama O.G., which is shot inside of an actual prison and stars real inmates. Because of the relevant and believable storyline, you may be wondering if it's inspired by a true story. Before the movie and its complementary documentary (more on that below) air, here's what you need to know about its story and groundbreaking film-making approach.
O.G. Is Not Based on a True Story
O.G. is about Louis, an incarcerated man who was once the head of a prison gang and now awaits his impending release after a 24-year sentence. As Louis tries to save a new inmate named Beecher from trouble, he...

Jeffrey Wright, the most compelling reason to watch HBO’s new film “O.G.,” is among television’s best actors at switching between codes or manners of being. On “Westworld,” his timeline-toggling android swaps personae so delicately that his performance gains in resonance when recalled in retrospect. (Perhaps that’s why Wright has been so oddly underrated through the show’s first two seasons.) And, in the more earthbound “O.G.,” Wright plays a longtime prisoner who’s learned the ways to deal both with his captors and his fellow incarcerated men, but who faces the pressure of impending release. It’s a typically well-wrought performance in a film not quite built to hold it; the actor shows us new things about the plight of the individuals caught up in mass incarceration and given too few resources for life after, even as the film itself deals in heavy-handed and often obvious notes.
