I don't care it's lack of fidelity to historical facts, but it's just a bad movie. It is so boring, the performances are bad and the script makes no sense.

A few films have been made of the adult life of Boudica, the warrior queen who led a revolt against Roman rule in Britain. A good film on her rise to being The Warrior Queen would be interesting. Unfortunately, this is not that film: it covers that subject but is not a good film.
The central plot is okay but hardly makes for compelling viewing. Some unnecessary sub-plots weaken the overall effort (but without them the film would be too short!). There is some engagement with characters but the performances, including that of Ella Peel as Boudica, limit that.
Production values are okay, as are the action scenes, what there are. For a film on the making of one of Britain's most famous warriors there's not that many action/battle scenes.
Disappointing.

The movie poster shows Boudica in battle dress and the promotional material talks about epic battle scenes. Well the whole movie takes place before Baudica actually becomes queen so she's never actually in battle dress or the head of an army and the epic battle scenes consist of poorly acted skirmishes between 5 or six people.
I was watching this movie waiting for the preamble to end and the main movie to start when the closing credits came up. Total waste of time.

I bought this with high hopes of sharing the story of one of the greatest female leaders ever to exist, only for it to be a complete washout. A bitter disappointment. Do not waste your time.

I bought this for £3, having been impressed by the DVD cover and story on the back.
I have to say this film does not live up to the hype at all. poor lighting that made everybody look like they were under a spotlight. Epic battle scenes? were more like a few slaps and tussles with as much grace as a bunch of drunk teenagers.
Passionate Fighting Spirit? Only at the end when she actually took up the position of warrior queen.
The sad thing is this could have been brilliant even without a big budget. But it seems they wasted their mediocre budget on the costumes instead of actually writing a decent storyline.
Learn from my mistake and don't be fooled by the impressive cover and avoid this like the plague.

The only historical records of Boudica where written by the Romans who had no interest in her until she become Queen so this is pure fiction. Why does it matter ? because the actual historical events that have been written about would make a fantastic epic move but I guess that would have required a budget.
One of the things that annoy me the most about movie makers of today is they love to replace traditional male roles with women but there are many great woman like Boudica that great movies could be made about but all they get is low budget, badly written with nobody actors movie made about them ... if you have any interest in Queen Boudica don't bother with this insult to her

This is a pathetic woke rewriting of history. It does NOT follow Celtic history or legend. According to history she DID NOT run away from home to avoid a "quant traditional marriage". She lived a normal childhood for the time and married an ICENI who became the tribal king and she the queen. The had two daughters. The rest of the story is well known.

I always thought that Boudica was recognised as a Warrior Queen for the many 'bloodbath' battles she led, fought & won. That may've been the case in legendary history, but this slow-paced sombre movie doesn't show it. That leads me to think that 'Boudica' is just a 'hyped-up' part of British history, that somebody somewhere made more of her & fantasised the reality - because she was a gutsy, passionate, queen, & ruler of the Iceni Tribe who took her role as queen - seriously.
Glad I stole my copy from Walmart wasn't worth the $10.00 let alone 5.Good scenery but long and very boring.Hope they make sequel that shows the real battles but highly doubtful since that would require a better cast and budget. But ah well it's a free movie.

I watched this movie earlier today and it lacked pretty much everything that would make a movie good and enjoyable.

Except for the last 10 - 15 minutes this movie is completely devoid of anything resembling entertainment.
Watched it on Amazon which gave it an 18+ rating... can't figure out why.

I hate to say it, but I thought it dreadful. It is not at all remotely what I expected, and certainly shares precious little with the Boudicca story we grew up on.
I understand that perhaps they wanted to tell a sort of origin story, but Boudacea, of all historical figures needs that the least.
Alex Kingston made a far superior showing in my book, that was genuinely good casting, though it had it issues which were largely budget related, but I digress.
This particular offering pails in comparison, but had it had some other title and character and I had approached it with less expectation and enthusiasm , it may well have been thoroughly enjoyable. Even with the eventual predictablity once the penny dropped with the Tarantino-esque flicking back and forth to scenes which youre lead to believe are running concurrently when infact they're days apart. This is for me the highlight of the film, and honestly, I remember little else. To be fair to it, if Boudacea means nothing to you, go for it and enjoy. But if you know anything at all about Boudicca and the Iceni. . . .look elsewhere!.

First off there is hardly any action in the film for the first hour and then some. The camera work is a lot of hand held and disrupts the movie. Some of the audio mixing/levels needs some work and the plot twist in the end is nice but cannot save this movie or make it better. The main male character needs more acting classes and delivers his lines flat. The story does not go anywhere until the last ten minutes of the movie. This movie is more of a drama than action or historical and the last minute sets it up for the sequal. Something to watch, but don't expect a lot from this and would have hoped the post pdlroductiin would of seen the outcome.

It's not even laughably bad, it's just bad.
Some of the Celtic and Roman costumes and weapons are pretty good, but one of the main characters walks around in a shirt that looks manufactured and bought from Target!
The acting is pretty good in places, but it's wasted on a lackluster story with the pacing of a sloth and very little substance. It all feels like exposition for another movie we never get to see.
The overall plot is nonsensical, the meager drama is based around the characters getting away from something they end up going back to in the end.
Read the plot synopsis and leave it at that, don't waste your time.

If minus stars were available I would have left -10!
I enjoy this genre of film, and with the boss being out for a ladies night out, settled down with a drink and snacks to enjoy the film in peace.
Terrible acting. Poor direction. Shoddy story line.
Lengthy meaningless conversations between two of actors. Terrible fight scenes. Modern haircuts, especially the male actors. Dirt on faces and bodies that appeared to have been applied in patches surround by gleaming skin. I could go on...
That's a segment of time I'll never get back.
Please do yourself a favour, unless you want to watch how a film should not be made, avoid this like the plague!

This was actually a pretty good film, perhaps not entirely what you'd expect from a film about Boudica but definitely an interesting historical film, a bit more of a focus on drama than on warfare perhaps.
It's definitely worth a watch if you like historical films and don't mind that it's not constant action and fighting, although there's definitely some fighting in there.
