Alien Goddess. Lovecraftian? Using that adjective is really stretching things. Migraine inducing? Most definitely. Badly lighted, (you can barely see much after about 7 minutes into the movie,) the constant strobe effect gave me a raging headache, and I would caution anyone subject to seizures from watching. The performances were, by and large not bad, but many of the characters are either unlikable, or just downright annoying. As much as I hate to say it, I couldn't finish the movie. From a technical perspective, it looks like it had a budget of about $5.00. Seriously, if you want to waste an hour and 45 minutes of your life, time you'll never get back, watch "Alien Goddess."

I got about 26% of the way through before I wanted to give up. Instead my friends and I sped the film up to 1.3x speed. This made the acting much better. The lines are read out robotic-ally (without emotion), slow and often stilted. I don't think the acting suffered due to a language barrier. Some of the actors/actresses clearly spoke perfect English. And others struggled partly because they added affectations that they don't normally have, and of course, most just can't recite their lines with any acting abilities.
Everything about this film was annoying. Instead of creating scary monsters and scenes, often we're left with poor lighting and annoying sounds. Those are our cues to know something "scary" is occurring. The near constant strobe lights. The affectation that the actor with the wig used. So many aspects of this film were clearly designed to annoy. I supposed if you want to be annoyed, this is a good thing?
We ended up watching the entire film, but I wouldn't suggest this film to anyone, not even if you love bad movies. The highlight of the film, from a cinematography standpoint, comes at the end, but it's not worth sitting though to get to. Everyone agreed that this film was easily one of the worst to get through.

I don't normally write reviews but this was both so great and so bad I had to. It delivered and yet it was not as fantastic as it could have been. Or was it? I t's weird. I wondered who made this? A charlatan or a wizard? Some will say an imbecile some will say a genius, some will say the director is sleazy, others will just scratch their heads. Though many times it really was fantastic!... Let me just say that I'm a huge fan of H. P LOVECRAFT and the movie was at times moving into Lovecraft territory. Though a lot of the SLEAZY stuff ejected it from those worlds and in many ways those less serious scenes made the movie collide with the underlying atmosphere. And sometimes it actually really had a deep atmosphere. It was as if it had its legs in two very different worlds. So those who want only one world will perhaps be disappointed. Personally I wasn't disappointed. The WEIRDNESS was what made me not care about the low budget, which will turn off a lot of people. - In the end the movie left me with a lot of ...hmm questions. And I guess it's a movie that has some sort of mystery to it. I don't know. Is it to be taken seriously or is it more like a joke? It's definitely intriguing though. And sometimes it approaches something truly powerful actually. Despite the mirroring worlds of nonsense sleaze - gory horror splashing - and eldritch atmospheres, it has something ...hmmm...What ? Will watch it again...
Atmospheric and claustrophobic. Probably a headache to watch if you have problems with strobing flashing lights - but I didn't (at the time) I dug the vibe. It's a slasher type of weird low budget horror movie. Not plot driven but really entertaining. I guess I was in the right mood for it. If you're critical and analyse stuff from a film making PoV there will be flaws to find.( Like with all movies not made by armies of people, in which the individual is a cog in the industrial machinery - yes there will be imperfections)
So if you like the wild, the flawed and the wicked - then this might be cool. If you're in the right mood for this type of atmosphere that is. And if you're ready for flashing strobes and garish colours. Which I was at the time...
