Instantly recognisable, this short film uses imagery that David Lynch is well known for - and indeed a lot of what is in this very short film would be part of The Return some 7 years later. The curtain in the background, the egg/head giving way to some sort of golden seed; all of it is disturbingly done and combined with the sort of soundtrack that makes so much of his work uneasy and unsettling to watch. There isn't a narrative here, just a small nightmare but I enjoyed it for the quick taste it gave me of something greater. It is a piece of art, which is to say that it is deliberately difficult and divisive, very much in the eye of the creator and not worried about the casual viewer. Simple and effective.
