John Stevenson and Mike Osborne's 2008 film "Kung Fu Panda," on its most basic level, serves as a spoof of a certain type of martial arts film made in Hong Kong in the 1970s. Many of the tropes of martial arts cinema infiltrated American cinemas in the 1990s and 2000s thanks to the stateside releases of Jackie Chan's Hong Kong movies, the success of the wuxia film "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," and the constant bolstering of the genre by mega-fan Quentin Tarantino.
By 2008, so many American filmmakers had borrowed from Hong King cinema (including Tarantino himself with his "Kill Bill" movies), that even small children could recreate their tropes and clichés on the playground. Every kid could spot the characters: ancient wizened masters, a team of martial arts monks, and a feisty young comedic hotshot who seems ill-equipped for the asceticism of kung fu, but ultimately proves to be a champion.

Po has faced powerful villains in Kung Fu Panda, showcasing a mix of comedy and drama that continues in spinoff series. The franchise started strong in 2008, leading to sequels and TV spinoffs with their own memorable foes to challenge Po. From Tai Lung's raw power to Alfie's redemption, the Kung Fu Panda villains bring classic kung-fu movie strength to the series.
Po has faced off against several villains throughout the Kung Fu Panda franchise, with a select few standing out as the most dangerously powerful. The DreamWorks movies are an excellent combination of children's comedy and classic kung-fu drama, and this has continued to the various spinoff series as well. Kung Fu Panda came ready with a plethora of heroes to support Po the Panda, each with their own unique skills and quirks. Still, there would be no story if it wasn't for the formidable villains they've had to go up against.

It was during the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con when we first learned of Marvel Studios' plans for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (then known as Spider-Man: Freshman Year).
A great deal has changed since; for starters, we learned that the show won't take place in the MCU as originally expected. Marvel Studios has also launched its own "Marvel Animation" banner designed to exclusively oversee the likes of X-Men '97 and What If...?
Now, Screen Rant (via Toonado.com) brings word that Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man has found its composers in Zach Robinson and Leo Birenberg. They're best known for collaborating on Cobra Kai, Twisted Metal, and Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny.
"We are beyond stoked to be a part of this standout entry in the MCU," the duo tells the site. "Jeff Trammell, Mel Zwyer, and the rest of the team at Marvel could not have been better collaborators, and...

The latest installment of the Kung Fu Panda has officially become a financial success. Despite the film’s mixed reactions from longtime fans of the franchise, Kung Fu Panda 4 has already earned $275 Million worldwide on an $85 Million budget.
The film series’ success is arguably attributed to the fantastic performance of the series lead, Jack Black, who plays the titular kung fu master Po the Panda. His performance brings the character to life, and it is hard to imagine anyone else taking on the role.
Unfortunately, we may have to say farewell to the iconic actor as in a recent interview with The Sunday Times, he was asked about the franchise’s future. He stated:
“For me, I think this is the farewell. This is the last Kung Fu Panda. Ever.“
He would then go on to say:

It's been nearly a decade since "Kung Fu Panda 3" hit theaters, but the paw-punching panda hasn't been dormant the entire time. Since the sequel's arrival in theaters, there have been two DreamWorks Animation Television shows ("Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny" and "Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight") following Po's adventures after what seemed like a nice trilogy capper. So it's not as if we've been short on martial arts mayhem. The latter series even managed to lure Jack Black back to voice Po, and it just wrapped up a three-season run in September 2023. So bringing "Kung Fu Panda" back to the big screen really needed to feel worth it. How did "Shrek Forever After" director Mike Mitchell and co-director Stephanie Ma Stine ("She-Ra and the Princesses of Power") fare with the latest mystical journey for Po?

The film will mark the third sequel of the original “Kung Fu Panda,” which premiered in 2008 to become DreamWorks’ highest-grossing original animated film. Set in ancient China, the martial arts movie told the epic story of a panda named Po (Jack Black), whose love of kung fu was matched only by his insatiable appetite.
Black has voiced Po in all three films, as well as shorts “Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Furious Five,” “Kung Fu Panda Holiday,” “Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Masters,” “Kung Fu Panda: Po’s Winter Wonderland” and “Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Scroll.” He also reprised the role in the TV series “Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight,” which debuted on Netflix in July. Birenberg and Robinson have composed the score for each season of the show, including the upcoming fifth season. Earlier today it was announced that Netflix was developing a Jurassic World animated spinoff series called Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous with DreamWorks Animation. Well, we now have a teaser trailer to share with you that gives us our first look at what we can expect from the show.
While the teaser doesn’t really get into the story, we do get a look at the kind of animation we’ll be seeing, and it looks like great stuff! I’m glad to see that the animation will have a higher quality to it than many of the shows we are seeing these days.
The series will be set in the same universe and timeline as the two Jurassic World films. Here’s the official synopsis:
Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous follows a group of six teenagers chosen for a once-in-a-lifetime experience at a new adventure camp on the opposite side of Isla Nublar.

But when dinosaurs wreak havoc across the island, the campers are stranded. Unable to reach the outside world, they’ll need to go from strangers to friends to family if they’re going to survive. It’s been a quite day in the animation world.
First the hiring of former Walt Disney/Pixar boss John Lasseter to run Skydance Animation, which received an immediate backlash from Time’s Up and Women and Hollywood over the executive’s sexual harassment history. Now Universal said this afternoon that DreamWorks Animation Group president Chris deFaria, after two years in the position, is exiting the studio in the coming months.
In his place, Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley has promoted Dwa TV president Margie Cohn, who will now oversee both film and television operations. The news comes in the wake of the overseas launch of one of Dwa’s prized blockbuster and award-winning franchises, the threequel How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World. The pic opens stateside on February 22. It’s the studio’s first release since 2017’s Captain Underpants, which was made for $38M and grossed $125.5M worldwide.

Along the way, he makes a few friends and participates in high-stakes races with a pretty junky ship called the Fireball.
The show, which is set years after Return of the Jedi and just before The Force Awakens, has plenty of connections to Episode VII. The valiant Poe Dameron plays a supporting role on the show as Kazuda's mentor while Captain Phasma leads her forces in the days before her mission to Jakku.
