Epica have announced their ninth studio album, Aspiral, arriving April 11th via Nuclear Blast Records. The video for the new single and LP opener “Cross the Divide” can be streamed now.
The upbeat track is a glorious exercise in symphonic prog metal, combining catchy riffs with bouncy keys and an air of classical decadence. Singer Simone Simons — a master of this style — plays both frontwoman and narrator, as if in an opera.
It’s the second single from Aspiral, with the band’s 2024 track “Arcana” also included on the tracklist. The 11-song album was recorded at Sandlane Studios with producer/mixing engineer Joost van den Broek and features striking artwork by Hedi Xandt.
Regarding the album title, Epica took the name from a work by Polish sculptor and painter Stanisław Szukalski: a 1965 bronze sculpture entitled Aspiral, which stands for renewal and inspiration.

Warning: Contains spoilers for Chainsaw Man Chapter #187Chainsaw Man has always excelled at subverting its readers' expectations. Part One's main villain reveal came with only 20 or so chapters remaining, following several arcs in which the Gun Devil was staged as being the series' final antagonist. Part Two, in similar fashion, turned readers' attention toward the Death Devil, only to then insert the primal fear, Aging, as the saga's most threatening villain yet. With Denji back on track and Pochita receiving some help from his best buddy, the War on Aging seems just about ready to commence.
Though he is unimaginably strong, even Pochita, the devil that devils fear most, doesn't quite have what it takes to match up with a primal fear like Aging. The most recent Chapter #187, titled, "Barf!", showcases these shortcomings, but thanks to some quick thinking on Denji's part, reinforcements are on their way. Closing the chapter...

Spanish singer Leroy Sanchez has garnered a large following over the years and he’s paying homage to his roots with a brand new holiday single.
The 33-year-old singer-songwriter just dropped his new single “To Say Feliz Navidad,” which contains both Spanish and English lyrics. The song comes on the heels of his recently released single “Nuclear.”
We caught up with Leroy to learn more about him amid the release of the song. Check out 10 Fun Facts below!
I only watch movies during the night time, I find it super strange watching a full movie while the sun is still out. The very first instrument I ever played was a wood guiro. When I was a kid I wanted to be a painter or a carpenter. The perfect date: picnic at a quiet park, book, stroll around the lake and ice cream (dairy free) or hot cider if it’s cold.

Brainy political lightning rod Oliver Stone isn’t making feature films anymore. Sure, he’d love to add a 21st to his 20 films to date; he just can’t find backers. His alternate route, like many other directors today, from fellow Cannes entrant Ron Howard (“Jim Henson: Idea Man”) to Martin Scorsese, is documentaries.
Stone has churned out a career total of ten, including recent 2021 Cannes entry “JFK Revisited” (Showtime) and 2022 eco-doc “Nuclear” (Abramorama). His latest, “Lula,” marks a move to the left from his much-criticized recent portraits of dictators such as Cuba’s Fidel Castro (HBO’s “Comandante”) and Russia’s Vladimir Putin (Showtime’s four-part “The Putin Interviews”).
Since his start as a filmmaker in the 1970s, the Yale-grad-turned-Vietnam-vet, now 77, has leaned into political fiction, from “Salvador,” “Wall Street,” and “W.,” to Best Director Oscar-winners “Platoon” and “Born on the Fourth of July.” His last Oscar nomination came in 1996, for “Nixon,...

Wes Craven almost directed Superman IV, but left due to creative differences with Christopher Reeve. Craven's dark sensibilities could have revitalized the Superman character and offered a unique take. If Craven had directed Superman IV, the film might have been darker or satirical in tone.
Wes Craven is widely revered as a horror auteur, but the Nightmare on Elm Street director could have once helmed a DC project like Superman in the 1980s. Even if he actually took on the project, this wouldnt have been Cravens first comic book film. Before being considered for a live-action Superman movie, Craven had already directed the 1982 cult classic Swamp Thing. Based on the DC comic series of the same name, Cravens superhero movie initially polarized critics but became a major success on home video and cable, and even spawned the 1989 sequel The Return of Swamp Thing.

Crates are important items in Fallout 76 that let you store your collected resources, but the Medium sized container may be the most important to get. This crate doesn't cost too much to make and doesn't sacrifice storage space for a smaller size. This item provides the perfect middle ground for those trying to organize their home and put away their most important gear.
The Medium Crate was once offered as a reward from the battle royale "Nuclear Winter" game mode. Along with the inventory updates for Fallout 76, players are allowed to keep whatever Medium Crates they earned during that event to place around their C.A.M.P. If you still have one of these containers, all you need to do is place it somewhere in your base to store items.

Nuclear Man was a wholly original villain created for Superman IV, with ferocious powers capable of challenging the Man of Steel. Doomsday was rushed in Batman v Superman, reducing one of Superman's most terrifying villains to a generic fantasy ogre. Gene Hackman's Lex Luthor remains iconic, capturing the gravitas and menace that defines the character as Superman's greatest villain.
Superman has gone up against many villains over the course of his cinematic career, with some working better than others as genuine threats to Metropolis and the world. Though perhaps not as numerous or varied as Batman's rogues gallery, Superman still has a colorful cast of nemeses in the original DC Comics that have provided films with plenty of inspiration. Across Superman's 10 movies, he has battled a diverse array of villains with varying degrees of cinematic value, some of them acting as a greater threat to the poster boy DC hero than others.

British actor David Oyelowo is drawn to portraying impactful characters, especially Black historical figures throughout the diaspora. He first gained recognition for playing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in the 2014 film Selma. He then played King Seretse Khama of Botswana in 2016’s A United Kingdom, and now he takes on title role of Lawmen: Bass Reeves, the legendary figure believed to be the inspiration for the Lone Ranger.
It earned him a Golden Globe nomination today for Best Actor in a Limited Series Made for Television in the Paramount+ drama.
As one of the first Black U.S. deputy marshals west of the Mississippi, Reeves is said to have captured over 3,000 outlaws with expert marksmanship and detective skills. In “Nuclear Now,” his intensely compelling, must-see documentary, Oliver Stone makes the vital and historical case that nuclear power has been the victim of a perception/reality conundrum, one that is now in the process of being overturned. The perception is that nuclear power is dangerous: too dangerous to be an essential component of providing our energy needs. The reality, argues Stone, is that nuclear power is clean, abundant, and safe, and that the ominous fact of our energy crisis — the looming catastrophe of climate change, the hopeful but stubbornly incremental growth of renewables like wind and solar — is too urgent for nuclear power not to be an essential component of providing our energy needs.
Those are the two sides of the debate, and they’ve been entrenched for so long that it’s hard, at a glance, to see much possibility for change. But that’s where a documentary...

"Come on down and tell Dad what you saw." Cinetic has unveiled a festival promo trailer for the film titled R.M.N., the latest from acclaimed, award-winning Romanian filmmaker Cristian Mungiu. It's premiering at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival later this week, which is where Mungiu won the Palme d'Or back in 2007 for his chilling abortion film 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days. The synopsis is a bit vague but still interesting: A non-judgmental analysis of the driving forces of human behavior when confronted with the unknown, of the way we perceive the other and on how we relate to an unsettling future. Mungiu also provides this quote about the title: "I feel I owe one explanation: Rmn in English is Nmr: Nuclear Magnetic Resonance – basically a brain investigation. Given how the world looks today, I feel we need one.” The film stars Judith State and Marin Grigore. I still have no idea what's going on,...

The Elders today welcomed the decisions by newly-inaugurated US President Joe Biden to rejoin the Paris Agreement on climate change and cease the process of withdrawal from the World Health Organization.
They encouraged similar multilateral engagement on nuclear arms control and international security issues, including a quick agreement to extend the New Start nuclear agreement with Russia, and re-engagement with Iran and the international community on the future of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (Jcpoa) to defuse tensions in the Middle East.
The Elders expressed hope that the Biden Administration will take further concrete steps to demonstrate the commitment of the United States to the values and institutions of multilateralism, including support to improve global coordination in tackling Covid-19.
Mary Robinson, Chair of The Elders and former President of Ireland, said:

The Elders today expressed concern that the severe famine and humanitarian crisis in Yemen will be worsened by the US Government’s designation of one of the parties in the conflict as terrorists.
Due to enter into force on 19 January, just one day before the Trump Administration’s term in office ends, this designation will severely impact the lives of Yemenis, and all commercial trade with the country.
This US action will punish the whole of the Yemeni population, raising the prospect of mass famine and significant loss of life, and possibly make a future diplomatic solution even more difficult, the Elders warned. Yemen is one of the poorest countries in the world and exacerbating this situation will increase instability in an already fractured and fractious region.
