This show can't be real. It seemed like a spoof of a TV show. This was the most cringe worthy thing I've ever watched!

In one show including virtually no conversation, people acted as if this were real, including the mom crying at the end. Ridiculous.
As the title says, I attempted to watch the premiere to see if maybe I could poke fun and whatnot, but you just can't.
As if The Bachelor wasn't bad enough. Instead of months to get to know someone, the contestant gets an hour. Real solid foundation for a relationship. The Miss America pageant finally got rid of the swimsuit portion of the contest, and this show just scooped it back up off the floor. And why does the contestant get to see all the people vying for them, but the people putting themselves out there don't get to see them? It's impossible to get emotionally invested in this. It makes marriage look frivolous and stupid. I would be disappointed if this got picked up for another season, or even if it got to finish airing this one.

This is the worst show to ever hit television. It is absolutely ridiculous. The show's premise is ludicrous. A complete waste of air time.

I would never admit that I watched this show to anyone! I would love to see the follow up a year from now. Will they still be married? Ha ha! Total waste of my brain. I love bad TV but this takes the cake!

Just terrible - I can't imagine being one of these poor girls being judged essentially on looks and choosing to be with this man they know literally nothing about. So shallow not worth watching at all. I expect it to be canceled within the month

This show is the epitome of what is wrong in American society. The amount of desperation someone would have to have in order to go on this show to "get married" is absurd. Dating shows are one thing but this glorifies and grossly simplifys the process of finding someone you would want spend the rest of your life with based on a few questions answered in a "beauty pageant". As someone who is recently engaged I am not only offended by the concept of this show but I have lost faith in the constitution of marriage.

Omg this show is awful, don't waste your time lol! So cheesy (which I expected) but it was even worse than I thought. The music, the host, the stage!
What an embarrassment this show is. Hopefully this will last half of its season and never to return. Shame shame ABC

My mom came into town late last night. She enjoys watching this drivel so I thought I would be kind and watch it with her. I thought the Bachelor shows were bad, but I am thinking and hoping that even a lot of people who like those won't like this.
This is basically porn for women (more conservative women at least), even more than the Bachelor is. Hardcore porn has a hot woman giving a guy oral and jumping his bones twenty seconds after she meets him. This show has a well-dressed, fit guy with an attractive occupation sweet talking a woman and proposing to her twenty seconds after he meets her face-to-face. It's ludicrous, and like all "Reality TV" you know it's fake.

I'm not gonna bother with listing the negatives of this show as the show is pure misogyny. I just have one question: What idiot at ABC screened this show and approved it to be aired?
Even Miss Universe contest drops "Bikini Parade", but someone at ABC thinks it's a good idea to bring it back.

Described as a kind of "pageant", with evening gown, swimsuit, and interview rounds, "The Proposal" replaces the judges with a bachelor or bachelorette who selects from ten suitors. Between the moments of glitz and hype, there are reminders that this is real and it involves real people with actual feelings.
One round has someone close to the bachelor(ette)-like a father or sister--meet the remaining suitors and ask tough questions. Another "real" moment is when the runner-up is standing nearby as a proposal is being delivered. Awkward, to say the least.
This can be viewed as a high stakes contest. The nerves are real. The emotional risks are substantial. But no one gets married on the show. There may or may not be a proposal, but the couple can take as long as they want to test the validity of their dramatic, on-air choice.
As entertainment, this show is similar to many others that attempt to capture and package the emotional trappings of the first meeting, the courtship, and the commitment. But viewers may feel like they are watching a train wreck, because experience tells us that it takes considerable time to discover the myriad aspects of personality and compatibility. In fact, things happen so quickly that the audience is not given enough time to adequately identify with the participants and to buy in emotionally. This is its greatest flaw.

This is the worst piece of trash on tv. It is poorly produced, appears scripted and the contestants all look embarrassed or limited mentally. Take this off!

I wanted to see how low and stupid the american public must be to even have something so , well, a mixed bag of stupid, disgusting, and totally ...no words to describe. Utter trash. Not really worth reviewing.

I am watching this show with my jaw dropped. Are these women that desperate to go out on a stage and practically beg for an engagement from someone they haven't even scene. SMH ...

I've got the perfect torture right here. Tie your enemy to a chair, prop them in front of this show, and tape their eyes open.

Is this for real? How do they get advertisers for this? Why did I even watch? At least beauty pageants only happen once a year but rolling out this garbage on a weekly basis is indictable.
I feel sorry that Jesse Palmer has made a life altering or should I say career ending decision by hosting this. As for the contestants, they are so forgettable that luckily they can probably escape the embarrassment of signing up for this.
I once imagined a world where instead of being imprisoned for a crime people awere made to play idiots on reality tv for the benefit of other people's perverse entertainment and ridicule. This show is that reality. Schadenfreude at its best.

There's no way what I watched could've been real. Aside from it being a totally absurd premise, the last 10 minutes felt insanely inauthentic. It was too smooth and scripted. Horrible, horrible stuff here.

This show is absolutely awful. I can't believe I wasted the time to even watch. It made me sick to see how much they cheapened and degraded something that's supposed to be special, sweet and amazing. I hope this gets cancelled. ABC, you've stooped to low, low levels. You must be desperate to put this kind of garbage out.

I thought the Gong show was bad. The proposal was uncomfortable and awkward to watch. How can shows like this be on and Last Man Standing goes off the air. What idiot thought this was a good idea? I hope it gets cancelled. Come on ABC is it that hard to put decent tv on the air. It might stand a chance if you show them going on dates after the selection. Well that's an hour i wont get back. Awful. Terrible. Stupid. Insulting.

I will own loving the trash factory that is the bachelor franchise but for the love of all that is holy this is rubbish and you are falling in love in 30 minutes. This makes a mockery of marriage.
And why did that girl steal Becca's line?!?

At first I was going to do a review that before I even saw the other reviews mine would be redundant. The only fresh thing I think I can offer is even as ridiculous as the show's premise is, I will let creep if these people can find happiness and it is due to the show, then I'm happy for them because it can be really hard to be happy in life. Not that I want to see them, I do wonder if they'll put the men in swimsuits because turnabout is fair play.
