The Danish author of 'Lykke-Per', Henrik Pontoppidan, was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature 1917.
The project was first announced in 2012 when Nordisk Film bought the rights to the novel with Bille August attached to direct. It was later announced as a TV series for TV 2, after which a theatrical version was scheduled.
