Frikkadel starts his own business after losing his job. Before he realizes, he hires two unplanned staff members who change his own ideas about his business.
The Vetkoek Paleis opens with a few problems. Frik is visited by a "health inspector" and is so nervous that he gives away 22 vetkoeks before Worsie and Boeboe convince him that business according to the rules is the best.
While Boeboe is writing exams at the Polly-Anne School of Beauty, her niece, Sue-Ellen, works in her place. Sue-Ellen convinces Frik and Worsie that Spiros Takanakis wants to steal their vetkoek recipe.
Business is quiet at the Vetkoekpaleis. Spiros hired a belly dancer to lure customers to his store. Frik also decides to arrange a show. To his surprise, the dancer who arrives, Lolita Queen of Love, is an old girl of his.
Frik arranges with the Sun City bus driver to stop at Eugene's shop for souvenirs, at the Vetkoekpaleis for food and at Tiger's garage for fuel. However, things get all mixed up and Worsie comes to the rescue.
Frik realises that business is not easy, and hires a consultant. The consultant is way too expensive but things improve when Boeboe finds his little black book. Worsie attracts business through a radio station where his friend works.
There's chaos when Worsie discovers women. Frik and Boeboe can't talk to him at all and his mother is upset. Frik gets Worsie an apartment and his mother is initially opposed to it but concedes when she realizes that she can't stop him.
Boeboe is injured and must lie in traction for a week. Frik has to get someone to help out because he has an important rugby game. Tiger gives him a place's name where he can get waitresses, but to his shock it's an "escort agency".
Frik has to tread lightly to stay in Poppie's good books. Poppie feels ill and goes home early, Boeboe is convinced she is pregnant. The 'news' spreads like a wild fire. Poppie is furious and things get worse when Frik hears about it.
Worsie is convinced that Boeboe leads a double life, when he sees her picture in a magazine. Boeboe denies this and after some chaos, she finds out that she has a look-alike in Benoni.
There's drama in Nigel when Tiger fails to get tickets for the Springboks against the All Blacks Test. There is only one ticket available and everyone wants it. Worsie wins a second prize in a competition and the prize is two test tickets.
Poppie's work sends her for a course in Durban. Frik isn't very happy when he finds out that she'll be the only woman on the bus and buys her a plane ticket. A girl who was at school with Worsie makes her appearance in town.
