This is relatable on so many levels, as I'm in age when everyone tries so much to glue themselves to someone in order to settle down and fulfill classic cliche expectations, they often forget about their own ambitions on the way.
The movie highlights it can be fun to focus on making yourself happy and successful first, as we don't necessarily need other person to live a good quality life.
I loved the ending and wish there were more inspiring stories out there that contradict what often makes us miserable.
Let's end this biased ageism for good, people. Let's just live !!!

I liked this movie. I will say, it's made for people who like romantic comedies, that is the target audience. Also, it wasn't really funny. It contains one laugh-out-loud moment, which was also included in the trailer.
Regardless, I had a good time watching, it's sort of a look at a 39-year-old woman finding her way in life and just seeing her get used to probably ending up alone. The main character is not the most likeable person in the world, but I could sympathize with her. The movie contains a lot of coded messages, no doubt aiming to educate and inspire the moure young viewers, but they do stick out in a noticeable way when you watch as an adult.
The good part about the film was how comforting it was, it demonstrated that you can find contentment in life just by prioritizng your own wants. It's not the most life-changing movie you will ever see, but it was a nice way to pass the time.

I won't say it's something huge of the movie. Just discuss a topic that single or not via a funny way. Feel life is more complete somehow when single in Gaby case. Be open minded, don't be judgemential, everyone hv their own choice. Love the concept.
You can count on anything Chelsea Peretti is in to illicit at least a few laughs. Funny movie.

It felt to me like this film was more about the substance rather than the style.
What I took from it was the realisation of the stigma and pressure that we as a society put on single women who don't want to have kids. This is an important message however it felt like they started off with this and said, okay let's build our story and characters around it in order to further explain this message, as opposed to having the foundation of the story and characters in place first.
So for most of the film I felt like it was trying to get this message across to me by creating characters with different view points so our main protagonist could make her point. This in turn took away any real interest in the story or connection with the characters and made it feel like I was watching little snippets of interactions.
If you are a Chelsea Pretti fan, or someone who enjoys a slow paced rom-com, then you will like it. For me personally I'm on the fence. Yes bits of it were good but collectively it just didn't grab my attention.

Only realized this was a comedy when I came to IMDB to review it. Not funny in the slightest, boring and a bit depressing.
Not my style but I liked it a lot. I thought the movie was good. It feels like you are watching real people being real. Definitely not a Romantic Comedy. More like a slice of someone's life.
I clicked on that movie because I like Chelsea Peretti. I think her Stand-Up is great and she's the only reason I kind of half watched Brooklyn 99. After watching this movie I like her even a little more. In short: Not a Romantic Comedy , more a slice of real life.

I'm trying to categorize this movie....it wasn't funny...it wasn't drama....it wasn't serious....it wasn't....interesting. It was however, boring....which is why I quit half way through. A dull character with a dull life does not make an interesting movie.
If you like Brooklyn Nine-Nine you'll love this show She basically is exactly the same character Gina, that pretentious obnoxious funny character she played on Brooklyn Nine nine. She shoots from the hip and say whatever is on her mind regardless of how it comes off.

It starts nowhere... goes nowhere along its journey... and ends abruptly on a beach.
The dog was the best character by a mile

First off, the fact this movie has a 5.1 review score is ridiculous. This film is not so much a romcom as it is a realistic portrayal of how and where women can find value in different areas of their lives in the absence of romantic relationships. If is really well acted, and Chelsea Perretti hits all the right marks.

I like it. It tells the story of a girl, that is brave enough to look for love, even it never happens. She doesn't settle just with somebody to have company, she is looking for meaningful relationship.

Thankfully for Chelsea Peretti's committed performance, "Spinster" succeeds at being different than most rom-com's even though it's script could've used some re-working.
In this comedy, after her boyfriend breaks up with her on her birthday, a woman tackles her fears of loneliness and what it means to be single.
An easy-going and sometimes funny film that really showcases Peretti's acting chops. I did feel as though "Spinster" lagged at some points and wondered if scenes could've been altered or re-worked. Some of the jokes didn't land as you'd expect them too but it's still a decent enough film to get through on a gloomy evening.

This movie is kind of frustrating, because I agree with a lot of the messaging behind it. It's very "a woman doesn't need to find love or have kids to live a successful, fulfilling life". But the implementation of that messaging feels very heavy-handed and clumsy. Characters will randomly ask the main character if she has kids so that they can launch into the whole conversation surrounding it, and the actual dialogue feels kind of stilted.
It's solid messaging though, and very true! Everything surrounding that is competent. Directing is solid, if unremarkable, acting is fine. There's some attempts at emotional stakes that don't always land, but the main character has a developing bond with her niece that I enjoyed.
Overall I'd say it's worth a watch if you don't have anything better going on, but you're not missing anything spectacular if you don't watch it.

It's can be parts two because it's look like presuicidal story. it' can be helpful for parents to scare teenage daughters: this is what happens if you reach 30 ... a really depressing pessimistic movie without any hope probably this is a video for a psychiatry textbook. mostly sad that it's look like real story. in certain point. every chance will be lose
p,s Those who say that there are films: good, bad, very bad and Indian simply do not know about the existence of Canadian cinema. no for real nice costumes, actors, closes and furniture almost perfect operators works but so boring.

This is one of those quiet indies that you start off thinking "why am I watching this" and end up going "that was one of the greatest movies!" I really loved it. Peretti's portrayal of the anger and hurt was so real and the growth felt earned. I really loved the changes in the cinematography and colors that mirrored her character arc. Definitely going to watch this one again.

Despite a few rough edges, I found myself captivated right the way through. Well written, completely unique, and succeeded as a mirror. Worth your time.
